Titus 3

Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,

To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.

att de icke må smäda någon, icke vara stridslystna, utan vara fogliga, och att de i allt skola visa sig saktmodiga mot alla människor.Fil. 4:5. 2 Tim. 2:24 f.

For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

Vi voro ju själva förut oförståndiga, ohörsamma och vilsefarande, vi voro trälar under allahanda begärelser och lustar, vi levde i ondska och avund, vi voro värda att avskys, och vi hatade varandra.1 Kor. 6:11. Ef. 2:1 f. 5:8. Kol. 3:7. 1 Petr. 4:3.

But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

Men när Guds, vår Frälsares, godhet och kärlek till människorna uppenbarades,Tit 2:11.

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

då frälste han oss, icke på grund av rättfärdighetsgärningar som vi hade gjort, utan efter sin barmhärtighet, genom ett bad till ny födelse och förnyelse i helig ande,Joh. 3:5. Apg. 15:11. Rom. 3:20 f. 4:6. 9:11 f. 11:6. Gal. 2:16. Ef. 2:4 f. 5:26. 2 Tim. 1:9.

Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

som han rikligen utgöt över oss genom Jesus Kristus, vår Frälsare,Hes. 36:27. Joel 2:28. Apg. 2:33. Rom. 5:5.

That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

för att vi, rättfärdiggjorda genom hans nåd, skulle, såsom vårt hopp är, få evigt liv till arvedel.Rom. 8:23 f.

This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

Detta är ett fast ord, och jag vill att du med kraft vittnar härom, för att de som sätta tro till Gud må beflita sig om att rätt utöva goda gärningar. Sådant är gott och gagneligt för människorna.

But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

Men dåraktiga tvistefrågor och släktledningshistorier må du undfly, så ock trätor och strider om lagen; ty sådant är gagnlöst och fåfängligt.1 Tim. 1:4. 4:7. 6:20. 2 Tim. 2:23. Tit. 1:14.

A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;

En man som kommer partisöndring åstad må du visa ifrån dig, sedan du en eller två gånger har förmanat honom;Matt. 18:17. Rom. 16:17. 2 Tess. 3:6. 2 Tim. 3:5. 2 Joh. v. 10.

Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

ty du vet att en sådan är förvänd och begår synd, ja, han har själv fällt domen över sig.1 Tim. 6:4 f.

When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter.

När jag framdeles sänder Artemas eller Tykikus till dig, låt dig då angeläget vara att komma till mig i Nikopolis, ty jag har beslutit att stanna där över vintern.Ef. 6:21.

Bring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them.

Senas, den lagkloke, och Apollos må du med all omsorg utrusta för deras resa, så att intet fattas dem.Apg. 18:24. 3 Joh. v. 6.

And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.

Och må jämväl våra bröder, för att icke bliva utan frukt, lära sig att rätt utöva goda gärningar, där hjälp är av nöden.Tit. 2:14.
