Hosea 11

When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

 När Israel var ung, fick jag honom kär,  och ut ur Egypten kallade jag min son.2 Mos. 3,8. 4,22 f. Matt. 2,15.

As they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images.

 Men ju mer de hava blivit kallade,      dess mer hava de dragit sig undan;  de frambära offer åt Baalerna,      och åt belätena tända de offereld.

I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.

 Och likväl var det jag som lärde Efraim att gå,  och som tog dem upp i mina armar.  Men de förstodo icke att jag ville hela dem.2 Mos. 13,21. 5 Mos. 1,31.

I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.

 Med lena band drog jag dem,  med kärlekens tåg;  jag lättade oket över deras halsar,  jag sänkte mig ned till dem och gav dem föda.

He shall not return into the land of Egypt, but the Assyrian shall be his king, because they refused to return.

 Borde de då icke få vända tillbaka till Egyptens land  eller få Assur till sin konung,  eftersom de icke vilja omvända sig?

And the sword shall abide on his cities, and shall consume his branches, and devour them, because of their own counsels.

 Ja, svärdet skall rasa i deras städer  och förstöra deras bommar och frossa omkring sig,  för deras anslags skull.

And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him.

 Ty mitt folks håg står till avfall från mig;  och huru mycket man än kallar dem till den som är därovan,  så höjer sig ändå ingen.

How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? how shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.

 Men huru skall jag kunna giva dig till pris, Efraim,      och låta dig fara, Israel?  Icke kan jag giva dig till pris såsom Adma      och låta det gå dig såsom Seboim?  Mitt hjärta vänder sig i mig,      all min barmhärtighet vaknar.5 Mos. 29,23.

I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city.

 Jag vill icke låta dig känna      min vredes glöd,  jag skall icke vidare      fördärva Efraim.  Ty jag är Gud      och icke en människa;  helig är jag bland eder,  och med vrede vill jag ej komma.4 Mos. 23,19. 1 Sam. 15,29. Hes. 18,23. 33,11.

They shall walk after the LORD: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.

 Efter HERREN skola de så draga åstad,      och han skall ryta såsom ett lejon;  ja, han skall upphäva ett rytande,      och hans barn skola då med bävan      samlas västerifrån;Joel 3,16. Am. 1,2.

They shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria: and I will place them in their houses, saith the LORD.

 såsom fåglar skola de med bävan komma från Egypten      och såsom duvor från Assurs land.  Och sedan skall jag låta dem bo kvar i sina hus,      säger HERREN.                    Hosea, 12 Kapitlet             Efraims trolöshet.  Drag ur hans                   stamfaders historia.

Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.

 Efraim har omvärvt mig med lögn      och Israels hus med svek  Juda är alltjämt trolös mot Gud,      mot den Helige, den Trofaste.
