Psalms 4

Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.

Au chef des chantres. Avec instruments à cordes. Psaume de David. Quand je crie, réponds-moi, Dieu de ma justice! Quand je suis dans la détresse, sauve-moi! Aie pitié de moi, écoute ma prière!

O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.

Fils des hommes, jusques à quand ma gloire sera-t-elle outragée? Jusques à quand aimerez-vous la vanité, Chercherez-vous le mensonge? -Pause.

But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.

Sachez que l'Eternel s'est choisi un homme pieux; L'Eternel entend, quand je crie à lui.

Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

Tremblez, et ne péchez point; Parlez en vos coeurs sur votre couche, puis taisez-vous. -Pause.

Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.

Offrez des sacrifices de justice, Et confiez-vous à l'Eternel.

There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.

Plusieurs disent: Qui nous fera voir le bonheur? Fais lever sur nous la lumière de ta face, ô Eternel!

Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.

Tu mets dans mon coeur plus de joie qu'ils n'en ont Quand abondent leur froment et leur moût.

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.

Je me couche et je m'endors en paix, Car toi seul, ô Eternel! tu me donnes la sécurité dans ma demeure.
