Ezekiel 2

And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee.

او به من گفت: «ای انسان فانی، بر پاهای خود بایست تا با تو سخن گویم.»

And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me.

هنگامی‌که او با من حرف می‌زد، روح خدا بر من آمد و مرا از زمین بلند کرد و به سخن خود این چنین ادامه داد:

And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day.

«ای انسان فانی، من تو را نزد قوم اسرائیل می‌فرستم، نزد ملّتی سرکش که علیه من سرکشی کرده‌اند. آنان و نیاکانشان تا به امروز از من سرپیچی کرده‌اند.

For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD.

بازماندگان ایشان نیز گستاخ و سرسخت می‌باشند. من، تو را نزد ایشان می‌فرستم و تو به ایشان خواهی گفت: خداوند متعال چنین می‌فرماید:

And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.

این قوم سرکش خواه بشنوند و خواه نشنوند، خواهند دانست که نبی‌ای در میان ایشان هست.

And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.

«ای انسان فانی، از ایشان هراسان مشو و از سخنان ایشان ترسان مباش؛ گرچه خار و خاربن تو را در برگیرند و در میان کژدم‌ها زندگی کنی، از سخنان ایشان نترس و از چهره‌های ایشان نهراس، زیرا ایشان خاندان سرکشی هستند.

And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious.

تو کلام مرا به ایشان خواهی گفت، خواه بشنوند و خواه نشنوند، زیرا ایشان خاندان سرکشی هستند.

But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.

«امّا تو، ای انسان فانی، به من گوش فرا ده. همچون این خاندان سرکش، سرکش نباش! دهان بگشای و آنچه را به تو می‌دهم، بخور.»

And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein;

آنگاه دستی را دیدم که به سوی من دراز شد و در آن طوماری بود.

And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.

او طومار را گشود، در پشت و روی آن، سوگنامه، زاری و اندوه نوشته شده بود.
