Judges 17

मीका नामक एक व्यक्ति था जो एप्रैम के पहाड़ी प्रदेश में रहता था।

And there was a man of mount Ephraim, whose name was Micah.

मीका ने अपनी माँ से कहा, “क्या तुम्हें चाँदी के ग्यारह सौ सिक्के याद हैं जो तुमसे चुरा लिये गए थे। मैंने तुम्हें उसके बारे में शाप देते सुना। वह चाँदी मेरे पास है। मैंने उसे लिया है।” उसकी माँ ने कहा, “मेरे पुत्र, तुम्हें यहोवा आशीर्वाद दे।”

And he said unto his mother, The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken from thee, about which thou cursedst, and spakest of also in mine ears, behold, the silver is with me; I took it. And his mother said, Blessed be thou of the LORD, my son.

मीका ने अपनी माँ को ग्यारह सौ सिक्के वापस दिये। तब उसने कहा, “मैं ये सिक्के यहोवा को एक विशेष भेंट के रूप में दूँगी। मैं यह चाँदी अपने पुत्र को दूँगी और वह एक मूर्ती बनाएगा और उसे चाँदी से ढक देगा। इसलिए पुत्र, अब यह चाँदी मैं तुम्हें लौटाती हूँ।”

And when he had restored the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, his mother said, I had wholly dedicated the silver unto the LORD from my hand for my son, to make a graven image and a molten image: now therefore I will restore it unto thee.

लेकिन मीका ने वह चाँदी अपनी माँ को लौटा दी। अत: उसने दो सौ शेकेल चाँदी लिये और एक सुनार को दे दिया। सुनार ने चाँदी का उपयोग चाँदी से ढकी एक मूर्ति बनाने में किया। मूर्ति मीका के घर में रखी गई।

Yet he restored the money unto his mother; and his mother took two hundred shekels of silver, and gave them to the founder, who made thereof a graven image and a molten image: and they were in the house of Micah.

मीका का एक मन्दिर मूर्तियों की पूजा के लिये था। उसने एक एपोद और कुछ घरेलू मूर्तियाँ बनाईं। तब मीका ने अपने पुत्रों में से एक को अपना याजक चुना।

And the man Micah had an house of gods, and made an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.

(उस समय इस्राएल के लोगों का कोई राजा नहीं था। इसलिए हर एक व्यक्ति वह करता था जो उसे ठीक जचता था।)

In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

एक लेवीवंशी युवक था। वह यहूदा प्रदेश में बेतलेहेम नगर का निवासी था। वह यहूदा के परिवार समूह में रह रहा था।

And there was a young man out of Beth–lehem–judah of the family of Judah, who was a Levite, and he sojourned there.

उस युवक ने यहूदा में बेतलेहेम को छोड़ दिया। वह रहने के लिये दूसरी जगह ढूँढ रहा था। जब वह यात्रा कर रहा था, वह मीका के घर आया। मीका का घर एप्रैम के पहाड़ी प्रदेश में था।

And the man departed out of the city from Beth–lehem–judah to sojourn where he could find a place: and he came to mount Ephraim to the house of Micah, as he journeyed.

मीका ने उससे पूछा, “तुम कहाँ से आए हो?” युवक ने उत्तर दिया, “मैं उस बेतेलेहम नगर का लेवीवंशी हूँ जो यहूदा प्रदेश में है। मैं रहने के लिये स्थान ढूँढ रहा हूँ।”

And Micah said unto him, Whence comest thou? And he said unto him, I am a Levite of Beth–lehem–judah, and I go to sojourn where I may find a place.

तब मीका ने उससे कहा, “मेरे साथ रहो। मेरे पिता और मेरे याजक बनो। मैं हर वर्ष तुम्हें दस चाँदी के सिक्के दूँगा। मैं तुम्हें वस्त्र और भोजन भी दूँगा।” लेवीवंशी ने वह किया जो मीका ने कहा।

And Micah said unto him, Dwell with me, and be unto me a father and a priest, and I will give thee ten shekels of silver by the year, and a suit of apparel, and thy victuals. So the Levite went in.

लेवीवंशी युवक मीका के साथ रहने को तैयार हो गया। युवक मीका के पुत्रों के जैसा हो गया।

And the Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man was unto him as one of his sons.

मीका ने युवक को अपना याजक बनाया। इस प्रकार युवक याजक बन गया और मीका के घर में रहने लगा।

And Micah consecrated the Levite; and the young man became his priest, and was in the house of Micah.

मीका ने कहा, “अब मैं समझता हूँ कि यहोवा मेरे प्रति अच्छा होगा। मैं यह इसलिए जानता हूँ कि मैंने लेवीवंशी के परिवार के एक व्यक्ति को याजक रखा है।”

Then said Micah, Now know I that the LORD will do me good, seeing I have a Levite to my priest.
