Hosea 7

«هرگاه خواستم قوم اسرائیل را شفا بدهم و آنها را دوباره کامران سازم، دیدم که افرایم و سامره از گناه و کارهای بد دست نمی‌کشند. آنها مردم را فریب می‌دهند و دزدی و راهزنی می‌کنند.

When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria: for they commit falsehood; and the thief cometh in, and the troop of robbers spoileth without.

آنها نمی‌دانند که من از کردار زشت آنها چشم نمی‌پوشم. کارهای بدشان آنها را از هر طرف احاطه کرده است و من همه را به چشم خود می‌بینم.

And they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now their own doings have beset them about; they are before my face.

«پادشاه را با شرارت خود و رهبران را با دروغ خود شاد می‌سازند.

They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies.

آنها همگی زناکارند و آتش شهوت آنها مانند تنوری است که نانوا آن را شعله‌ور می‌سازد تا زمانی که خمیر آمادهٔ پختن شود.

They are all adulterers, as an oven heated by the baker, who ceaseth from raising after he hath kneaded the dough, until it be leavened.

در روزی که پادشاه جشن می‌گیرد، رهبران مست شراب می‌شوند و او هم با کسانی‌که مسخره‌اش می‌کنند، هم پیاله می‌گردد.

In the day of our king the princes have made him sick with bottles of wine; he stretched out his hand with scorners.

دلهایشان از مکر و فریب همچون تنور داغی است. خشم و غضب آنها تمام شب به آرامی می‌سوزد و همین که صبح شد، آتش آن شعله‌ور می‌گردد.

For they have made ready their heart like an oven, whiles they lie in wait: their baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming fire.

«همهٔ آنها مثل تنورِ سوزان هستند، رهبران خود را کشتند. پادشاهانشان یکی پس از دیگری به قتل رسیده‌اند، ولی هیچ‌کسی نیست که از من کمک بطلبد.

They are all hot as an oven, and have devoured their judges; all their kings are fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me.

«اسرائیل با بیگانگان آمیزش کرده و مانند نان نیم پخته قابل خوردن نیست.

Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned.

آمیزش با اقوام بیگانه نیرویش را از بین برده است، امّا خودش نمی‌داند. موی سرش سفید شده است، ولی او از آن بی‌خبر است.

Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not.

خودخواهی اسرائیل او را رسوا می‌کند، امّا با همهٔ اینها طالب خداوند، خدای خود نیستند و به سوی او باز نمی‌گردند.

And the pride of Israel testifieth to his face: and they do not return to the LORD their God, nor seek him for all this.

اسرائیل مانند کبوتر، نادان و بی‌شعور است. او گاهی از مصر کمک می‌خواهد و گاهی به طرف آشور می‌رود.

Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.

امّا من تور خود را بر او می‌اندازم و او را مانند پرنده‌ای از هوا به زمین می‌آورم. آنگاه او را مطابق کارهای زشتی که انجام داده است مجازات می‌کنم.

When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven; I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.

«وای به حال آنها زیرا از من فرار کردند، باید هلاک شوند زیرا که بر من عصیان ورزیدند. خواستم آنها را نجات بدهم، ولی آنها با من صادق نبودند.

Woe unto them! for they have fled from me: destruction unto them! because they have transgressed against me: though I have redeemed them, yet they have spoken lies against me.

آنها از صمیم دل به حضور من دعا نمی‌کنند، بلکه به بستر خود می‌روند و ناله و گریه سر می‌دهند. به شیوهٔ بت‌پرستان برای غلّه و شراب دعا می‌کنند و علیه من شورش می‌کنند.

And they have not cried unto me with their heart, when they howled upon their beds: they assemble themselves for corn and wine, and they rebel against me.

این من بودم که آنها را پرورش دادم و به آنها نیرو بخشیدم، ولی آنها در عوض، برضد من توطئه چیدند.

Though I have bound and strengthened their arms, yet do they imagine mischief against me.

آنها به چیزی رو می‌آورند که سودی ندارد. مانند کمان کجی هستند که نمی‌توان بر آن اعتماد کرد. رهبران آنها به‌خاطر زبان بد خویش با شمشیر کشته می‌شوند و مصریان به آنها می‌خندند و آنها را مسخره می‌‌کنند.»

They return, but not to the most High: they are like a deceitful bow: their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.
