Ruth 1

И в дните, когато съдеха съдиите, в земята настана глад. И един човек от Витлеем Юдейски отиде да живее като чужденец в моавските полета — той и жена му, и двамата му сина.

Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Beth–lehem–judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.

Името на човека беше Елимелех, името на жена му — Ноемин, а името на двамата му сина — Маалон и Хелеон; те бяха ефратци от Витлеем Юдейски. И те отидоха в моавските полета и останаха там.

And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Beth–lehem–judah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there.

И Елимелех, мъжът на Ноемин, умря и тя остана с двамата си сина.

And Elimelech Naomi's husband died; and she was left, and her two sons.

И те си взеха моавки за жени: името на едната беше Орфа, а името на другата — Рут. И живяха там около десет години.

And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years.

И двамата, Маалон и Хелеон, също умряха, и жената остана без двамата си сина и мъжа си.

And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband.

И тя стана със снахите си и се върна от моавските полета, защото беше чула в моавските полета, че ГОСПОД посетил народа Си и му дал хляб.

Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread.

Затова тя излезе от мястото, където беше, и двете й снахи с нея; и поеха по пътя, за да се върнат в земята на Юда.

Wherefore she went forth out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in law with her; and they went on the way to return unto the land of Judah.

И Ноемин каза на двете си снахи: Идете, върнете се всяка в дома на майка си. ГОСПОД да ви окаже милост, както вие оказвахте на умрелите и на мен.

And Naomi said unto her two daughters in law, Go, return each to her mother's house: the LORD deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead, and with me.

ГОСПОД да ви даде да намерите спокойствие, всяка в дома на мъжа си. И тя ги целуна. А те издигнаха гласовете си и заплакаха.

The LORD grant you that ye may find rest, each of you in the house of her husband. Then she kissed them; and they lifted up their voice, and wept.

И й казаха: Не, непременно ще се върнем с теб при твоя народ!

And they said unto her, Surely we will return with thee unto thy people.

А Ноемин каза: Върнете се, дъщери мои. Защо да идвате с мен? Имам ли още синове в утробата си, че да ви станат мъже?

And Naomi said, Turn again, my daughters: why will ye go with me? are there yet any more sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?

Върнете се, дъщери мои, идете, защото аз съм прекалено стара, за да се омъжа. Ако кажех, че имам надежда, даже ако се омъжех тази нощ и родях синове,

Turn again, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have an husband. If I should say, I have hope, if I should have an husband also to night, and should also bear sons;

вие бихте ли ги чакали, докато пораснат? Бихте ли се въздържали затова да не се омъжите? Не, дъщери мои — понеже моята горчивина е по-голяма от вашата, защото ръката на ГОСПОДА се е простряла против мен.

Would ye tarry for them till they were grown? would ye stay for them from having husbands? nay, my daughters; for it grieveth me much for your sakes that the hand of the LORD is gone out against me.

И те издигнаха гласовете си и отново заплакаха. И Орфа целуна свекърва си за сбогом, а Рут се прилепи към нея.

And they lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law; but Ruth clave unto her.

И тя каза: Ето, етърва ти се върна при народа си и при боговете си; върни се и ти след етърва си.

And she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law.

Но Рут каза: Не ме убеждавай да те оставя и да не дойда след теб, защото, където отидеш ти, ще отида и аз и където останеш, ще остана и аз; твоят народ ще бъде мой народ и твоят Бог — мой Бог;

And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:

където умреш ти, ще умра и аз и там ще бъда погребана. Така да ми направи ГОСПОД и така да прибави — само смъртта ще ме раздели от теб!

Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.

И като видя Ноемин, че беше решена да отиде с нея, престана да я уговаря.

When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her.

И двете вървяха, докато дойдоха във Витлеем. И когато стигнаха във Витлеем, целият град се раздвижи заради тях и жените казваха: Това ли е Ноемин?

So they two went until they came to Beth–lehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Beth–lehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, Is this Naomi?

А тя им каза: Не ме наричайте Ноемин, наричайте ме Мера, защото Всесилният ми е направил живота много горчив.

And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.

Пълна излязох, а ГОСПОД ме доведе обратно празна. Защо ме наричате Ноемин, когато ГОСПОД свидетелства против мен и Всесилният ми стори зло?

I went out full, and the LORD hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the LORD hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me?

Така Ноемин се върна и с нея снаха й Рут, моавката, която се върна от моавските полета. А те дойдоха във Витлеем в началото на ечемичната жетва.

So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter in law, with her, which returned out of the country of Moab: and they came to Beth–lehem in the beginning of barley harvest.
