Exodus 18

И мадиамският свещеник Йотор, тъстът на Мойсей, чу за всичко, което Бог извършил за Мойсей и за Своя народ Израил, как ГОСПОД извел Израил от Египет.

When Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses' father in law, heard of all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel his people, and that the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt;

И Йотор, тъстът на Мойсей, взе Сепфора, жената на Мойсей, след като той я беше изпратил обратно,

Then Jethro, Moses' father in law, took Zipporah, Moses' wife, after he had sent her back,

и двамата й сина, от които единият се казваше Гирсом, защото Мойсей беше казал: Пришълец станах в чужда земя. --

And her two sons; of which the name of the one was Gershom; for he said, I have been an alien in a strange land:

а другият се казваше Елиезер, защото беше казал: Бащиният ми Бог ми стана помощник и ме избави от меча на фараона.

And the name of the other was Eliezer; for the God of my father, said he, was mine help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh:

И Йотор, тъстът на Мойсей, дойде при Мойсей със синовете му и с жена му в пустинята до Божията планина, където се беше разположил на стан.

And Jethro, Moses' father in law, came with his sons and his wife unto Moses into the wilderness, where he encamped at the mount of God:

И съобщи на Мойсей: Аз, тъст ти Йотор, идвам при теб с жена ти и двамата й сина с нея.

And he said unto Moses, I thy father in law Jethro am come unto thee, and thy wife, and her two sons with her.

Тогава Мойсей излезе да посрещне тъста си, поклони се и го целуна; и като се поздравиха, влязоха в шатрата.

And Moses went out to meet his father in law, and did obeisance, and kissed him; and they asked each other of their welfare; and they came into the tent.

И Мойсей разказа на тъста си всичко, което ГОСПОД беше направил на фараона и на египтяните заради Израил, и всичките трудности, които ги бяха сполетели по пътя, и как ГОСПОД ги беше избавил.

And Moses told his father in law all that the LORD had done unto Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel's sake, and all the travail that had come upon them by the way, and how the LORD delivered them.

И Йотор много се зарадва за цялата добрина, която ГОСПОД беше оказал на Израил, като го беше избавил от ръката на египтяните.

And Jethro rejoiced for all the goodness which the LORD had done to Israel, whom he had delivered out of the hand of the Egyptians.

И Йотор каза: Благословен ГОСПОД, който ви избави от ръката на египтяните и от ръката на фараона; който избави народа от ръката на египтяните!

And Jethro said, Blessed be the LORD, who hath delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of Pharaoh, who hath delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians.

Сега познавам, че ГОСПОД е велик над всичките богове, защото в това, в което се възгордяха, Той беше над тях.

Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them.

Тогава Йотор, тъстът на Мойсей, взе всеизгаряне и жертви да принесе на Бога; и Аарон и всичките израилеви старейшини дойдоха да ядат хляб с тъста на Мойсей пред Бога.

And Jethro, Moses' father in law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God: and Aaron came, and all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses' father in law before God.

На другия ден Мойсей седна да съди народа. И народът стоеше пред Мойсей от сутрин до вечер.

And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moses from the morning unto the evening.

А когато тъстът на Мойсей видя всичко, което той вършеше за народа, каза: Какво е това, което правиш с народа? Защо седиш сам и целият народ стои пред теб от сутрин до вечер?

And when Moses' father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even?

А Мойсей каза на тъста си: Защото народът идва при мен да се допитва до Бога.

And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to enquire of God:

Когато имат нещо, идват при мен, и аз съдя между единия и другия, и аз им показвам Божиите наредби и закони.

When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.

Но тъстът на Мойсей каза: Това, което правиш, не е добро.

And Moses' father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good.

Ти съвсем ще се изтощиш -- и ти, и този народ, който е с теб -- защото това е много тежко за теб; не можеш да го вършиш сам.

Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.

Сега послушай гласа ми; ще те посъветвам и Бог да бъде с теб. Ти представлявай народа пред Бога и ти представяй делата пред Бога,

Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God:

и ги учи на наредбите и законите и им показвай пътя, по който трябва да ходят, и делата, които трябва да вършат.

And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.

Но си избери измежду целия народ способни мъже, които се боят от Бога, обичат истината и мразят несправедливата печалба, и ги постави над тях за хилядници, стотници, петдесетници и десетници.

Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:

И нека те всякога съдят народа. Всяко голямо дело нека донасят пред теб, а всяко малко дело нека отсъждат сами. Така ще ти олекне и те ще носят товара заедно с теб.

And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee.

Ако направиш това и ако Бог така ти заповяда, тогава ще можеш да издържиш, а и целият този народ ще стигне на мястото си с мир.

If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace.

И Мойсей послуша гласа на тъста си и направи всичко, което той му каза.

So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said.

Мойсей избра способни мъже измежду целия Израил и ги постави началници над народа -- хилядници, стотници, петдесетници и десетници.

And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

Те съдеха народа по всяко време. Трудните дела донасяха на Мойсей, а всяко малко дело съдеха сами.

And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.

След това Мойсей изпрати тъста си и той отиде в своята земя.

And Moses let his father in law depart; and he went his way into his own land.
