Zechariah 1

فارس کے بادشاہ دارا کی حکومت کے دوسرے سال اور آٹھویں مہینے میں رب کا کلام نبی زکریاہ بن برکیاہ بن عِدّو پر نازل ہوا،

In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,

”لوگوں سے کہہ کہ رب تمہارے باپ دادا سے نہایت ہی ناراض تھا۔ اب رب الافواج فرماتا ہے کہ میرے پاس واپس آؤ تو مَیں بھی تمہارے پاس واپس آؤں گا۔

The LORD hath been sore displeased with your fathers.

”لوگوں سے کہہ کہ رب تمہارے باپ دادا سے نہایت ہی ناراض تھا۔ اب رب الافواج فرماتا ہے کہ میرے پاس واپس آؤ تو مَیں بھی تمہارے پاس واپس آؤں گا۔

Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the LORD of hosts.

اپنے باپ دادا کی مانند نہ ہو جنہوں نے نہ میری سنی، نہ میری طرف توجہ دی، گو مَیں نے اُس وقت کے نبیوں کی معرفت اُنہیں آگاہ کیا تھا کہ اپنی بُری راہوں اور شریر حرکتوں سے باز آؤ۔

Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the LORD.

اب تمہارے باپ دادا کہاں ہیں؟ اور کیا نبی ابد تک زندہ رہتے ہیں؟ دونوں بہت دیر ہوئی وفات پا چکے ہیں ۔

Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live for ever?

لیکن تمہارے باپ دادا کے بارے میں جتنی بھی باتیں اور فیصلے مَیں نے اپنے خادموں یعنی نبیوں کی معرفت فرمائے وہ سب پورے ہوئے۔ تب اُنہوں نے توبہ کر کے اقرار کیا، ’رب الافواج نے ہماری بُری راہوں اور حرکتوں کے سبب سے وہ کچھ کیا ہے جو اُس نے کرنے کو کہا تھا‘۔“

But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? and they returned and said, Like as the LORD of hosts thought to do unto us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so hath he dealt with us.

تین ماہ کے بعد رب نے نبی زکریاہ بن برکیاہ بن عِدّو پر ایک اَور کلام نازل کیا۔ سباط یعنی11ویں مہینے کا 24واں دن تھا۔

Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,

اُس رات مَیں نے رویا میں ایک آدمی کو سرخ رنگ کے گھوڑے پر سوار دیکھا۔ وہ گھاٹی کے درمیان اُگنے والی مہندی کی جھاڑیوں کے بیچ میں رُکا ہوا تھا۔ اُس کے پیچھے سرخ، بُھورے اور سفید رنگ کے گھوڑے کھڑے تھے۔ اُن پر بھی آدمی بیٹھے تھے ۔

I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him were there red horses, speckled, and white.

جو فرشتہ مجھ سے بات کر رہا تھا اُس سے مَیں نے پوچھا، ”میرے آقا، اِن گھڑسواروں سے کیا مراد ہے؟“ اُس نے جواب دیا، ”مَیں تجھے اُن کا مطلب دکھاتا ہوں۔“

Then said I, O my lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these be.

تب مہندی کی جھاڑیوں میں رُکے ہوئے آدمی نے جواب دیا، ”یہ وہ ہیں جنہیں رب نے پوری دنیا کی گشت کرنے کے لئے بھیجا ہے۔“

And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom the LORD hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth.

اب دیگر گھڑسوار رب کے اُس فرشتے کے پاس آئے جو مہندی کی جھاڑیوں کے درمیان رُکا ہوا تھا۔ اُنہوں نے اطلاع دی، ”ہم نے دنیا کی گشت لگائی تو معلوم ہوا کہ پوری دنیا میں امن و امان ہے۔“

And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.

تب رب کا فرشتہ بولا، ”اے رب الافواج، اب تُو 70 سالوں سے یروشلم اور یہوداہ کی آبادیوں سے ناراض رہا ہے۔ تُو کب تک اُن پر رحم نہ کرے گا؟“

Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?

جواب میں رب نے میرے ساتھ گفتگو کرنے والے فرشتے سے نرم اور تسلی دینے والی باتیں کیں۔

And the LORD answered the angel that talked with me with good words and comfortable words.

فرشتہ دوبارہ مجھ سے مخاطب ہوا، ”اعلان کر کہ رب الافواج فرماتا ہے، ’مَیں بڑی غیرت سے یروشلم اور کوہِ صیون کے لئے لڑوں گا۔

So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.

مَیں اُن دیگر اقوام سے نہایت ناراض ہوں جو اِس وقت اپنے آپ کو محفوظ سمجھتی ہیں۔ بےشک مَیں اپنی قوم سے کچھ ناراض تھا، لیکن اِن دیگر قوموں نے اُسے حد سے زیادہ تباہ کر دیا ہے۔ یہ کبھی بھی میرا مقصد نہیں تھا۔‘

And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.

رب فرماتا ہے، ’اب مَیں دوبارہ یروشلم کی طرف مائل ہو کر اُس پر رحم کروں گا۔ میرا گھر نئے سرے سے اُس میں تعمیر ہو جائے گا بلکہ پورے شہر کی پیمائش کی جائے گی تاکہ اُسے دوبارہ تعمیر کیا جائے۔‘ یہ رب الافواج کا فرمان ہے۔

Therefore thus saith the LORD; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem.

مزید اعلان کر کہ رب الافواج فرماتا ہے، ’میرے شہروں میں دوبارہ کثرت کا مال پایا جائے گا۔ رب دوبارہ کوہِ صیون کو تسلی دے گا، دوبارہ یروشلم کو چن لے گا‘۔“

Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.

مَیں نے اپنی نگاہ اُٹھائی تو کیا دیکھتا ہوں کہ چار سینگ میرے سامنے ہیں۔

Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw, and behold four horns.

جو فرشتہ مجھ سے بات کر رہا تھا اُس سے مَیں نے پوچھا، ”اِن کا کیا مطلب ہے؟“ اُس نے جواب دیا، ”یہ وہ سینگ ہیں جنہوں نے یہوداہ اور اسرائیل کو یروشلم سمیت منتشر کر دیا تھا۔“

And I said unto the angel that talked with me, What be these? And he answered me, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.

پھر رب نے مجھے چار کاری گر دکھائے۔

And the LORD shewed me four carpenters.

مَیں نے سوال کیا، ”یہ کیا کرنے آ رہے ہیں؟“ اُس نے جواب دیا، ”مذکورہ سینگوں نے یہوداہ کو اِتنے زور سے منتشر کر دیا کہ آخرکار ایک بھی اپنا سر نہیں اُٹھا سکا۔ لیکن اب یہ کاری گر اُن میں دہشت پھیلانے آئے ہیں۔ یہ اُن قوموں کے سینگوں کو خاک میں ملا دیں گے جنہوں نے اُن سے یہوداہ کے باشندوں کو منتشر کر دیا تھا۔“

Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to scatter it.
