Joshua 1

رب کے خادم موسیٰ کی موت کے بعد رب موسیٰ کے مددگار یشوع بن نون سے ہم کلام ہوا۔ اُس نے کہا،

Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying,

”میرا خادم موسیٰ فوت ہو گیا ہے۔ اب اُٹھ، اِس پوری قوم کے ساتھ دریائے یردن کو پار کر کے اُس ملک میں داخل ہو جا جو مَیں اسرائیلیوں کو دینے کو ہوں۔

Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

جس زمین پر بھی تُو اپنا پاؤں رکھے گا اُسے مَیں موسیٰ کے ساتھ کئے گئے وعدے کے مطابق تجھے دوں گا۔

Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

تمہارے ملک کی سرحدیں یہ ہوں گی: جنوب میں نجب کا ریگستان، شمال میں لبنان، مشرق میں دریائے فرات اور مغرب میں بحیرۂ روم۔ حِتّی قوم کا پورا علاقہ اِس میں شامل ہو گا۔

From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.

تیرے جیتے جی کوئی تیرا سامنا نہیں کر سکے گا۔ جس طرح مَیں موسیٰ کے ساتھ تھا، اُسی طرح تیرے ساتھ بھی ہوں گا۔ مَیں تجھے کبھی نہیں چھوڑوں گا، نہ تجھے ترک کروں گا۔

There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

مضبوط اور دلیر ہو، کیونکہ تُو ہی اِس قوم کو میراث میں وہ ملک دے گا جس کا مَیں نے اُن کے باپ دادا سے قَسم کھا کر وعدہ کیا تھا۔

Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

لیکن خبردار، مضبوط اور بہت دلیر ہو۔ احتیاط سے اُس پوری شریعت پر عمل کر جو میرے خادم موسیٰ نے تجھے دی ہے۔ اُس سے نہ دائیں اور نہ بائیں طرف ہٹنا۔ پھرجہاں کہیں بھی تُو جائے کامیاب ہو گا۔

Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

جو باتیں اِس شریعت کی کتاب میں لکھی ہیں وہ تیرے منہ سے نہ ہٹیں۔ دن رات اُن پر غور کرتا رہ تاکہ تُو احتیاط سے اِس کی ہر بات پر عمل کر سکے۔ پھر تُو ہر کام میں کامیاب اور خوش حال ہو گا۔

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

مَیں پھر کہتا ہوں کہ مضبوط اور دلیر ہو۔ نہ گھبرا اور نہ حوصلہ ہار، کیونکہ جہاں بھی تُو جائے گا وہاں رب تیرا خدا تیرے ساتھ رہے گا۔“

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

پھر یشوع قوم کے نگہبانوں سے مخاطب ہوا،

Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,

”خیمہ گاہ میں ہر جگہ جا کر لوگوں کو اطلاع دیں کہ سفر کے لئے کھانے کا بندوبست کر لیں۔ کیونکہ تین دن کے بعد آپ دریائے یردن کو پار کر کے اُس ملک پر قبضہ کریں گے جو رب آپ کا خدا آپ کو ورثے میں دے رہا ہے۔“

Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.

پھر یشوع روبن، جد اور منسّی کے آدھے قبیلے سے مخاطب ہوا،

And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying,

”یہ بات یاد رکھیں جو رب کے خادم موسیٰ نے آپ سے کہی تھی، ’رب تمہارا خدا تم کو دریائے یردن کے مشرقی کنارے پر کا یہ علاقہ دیتا ہے تاکہ تم یہاں امن و امان کے ساتھ رہ سکو۔‘

Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, The LORD your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.

اب جب ہم دریائے یردن کو پار کر رہے ہیں تو آپ کے بال بچے اور مویشی یہیں رہ سکتے ہیں۔ لیکن لازم ہے کہ آپ کے تمام جنگ کرنے کے قابل مرد مسلح ہو کر اپنے بھائیوں کے آگے آگے دریا کو پار کریں۔ آپ کو اُس وقت تک اپنے بھائیوں کی مدد کرنا ہے

Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side Jordan; but ye shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and help them;

جب تک رب اُنہیں وہ آرام نہ دے جو آپ کو حاصل ہے اور وہ اُس ملک پر قبضہ نہ کر لیں جو رب آپ کا خدا اُنہیں دے رہا ہے۔ اِس کے بعد ہی آپ کو اپنے اُس علاقے میں واپس جا کر آباد ہونے کی اجازت ہو گی جو رب کے خادم موسیٰ نے آپ کو دریائے یردن کے مشرقی کنارے پر دیا تھا۔“

Until the LORD have given your brethren rest, as he hath given you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the LORD'S servant gave you on this side Jordan toward the sunrising.

اُنہوں نے جواب میں یشوع سے کہا، ”جو بھی حکم آپ نے ہمیں دیا ہے وہ ہم مانیں گے اور جہاں بھی ہمیں بھیجیں گے وہاں جائیں گے۔

And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go.

جس طرح ہم موسیٰ کی ہر بات مانتے تھے اُسی طرح آپ کی بھی ہر بات مانیں گے۔ لیکن رب آپ کا خدا اُسی طرح آپ کے ساتھ ہو جس طرح وہ موسیٰ کے ساتھ تھا۔

According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee: only the LORD thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.

جو بھی آپ کے حکم کی خلاف ورزی کر کے آپ کی وہ تمام باتیں نہ مانے جو آپ فرمائیں گے اُسے سزائے موت دی جائے۔ لیکن مضبوط اور دلیر ہوں!“

Whosoever he be that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.
