Jeremiah 11

رب یرمیاہ سے ہم کلام ہوا،

The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

”یروشلم اور یہوداہ کے باشندوں سے کہہ کہ اُس عہد کی شرائط پر دھیان دو جو مَیں نے تمہارے ساتھ باندھا تھا۔

Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;

رب جو اسرائیل کا خدا ہے فرماتا ہے کہ اُس پر لعنت جو اُس عہد کی شرائط پوری نہ کرے

And say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant,

جو مَیں نے تمہارے باپ دادا سے باندھا تھا جب اُنہیں مصر سے نکال لایا، اُس مقام سے جو لوہا پگھلانے والی بھٹی کی مانند تھا۔ اُس وقت مَیں بولا، ’میری سنو اور میرے ہر حکم پر عمل کرو تو تم میری قوم ہو گے اور مَیں تمہارا خدا ہوں گا۔

Which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God:

پھر مَیں وہ وعدہ پورا کروں گا جو مَیں نے قَسم کھا کر تمہارے باپ دادا سے کیا تھا، مَیں تمہیں وہ ملک دوں گا جس میں دودھ اور شہد کی کثرت ہے۔‘ آج تم اُسی ملک میں رہ رہے ہو۔“ مَیں، یرمیاہ نے جواب دیا، ”اے رب، آمین، ایسا ہی ہو!“

That I may perform the oath which I have sworn unto your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. Then answered I, and said, So be it, O LORD.

تب رب نے مجھے حکم دیا کہ یہوداہ کے شہروں اور یروشلم کی گلیوں میں پھر کر یہ تمام باتیں سنا دے۔ اعلان کر، ”عہد کی شرائط پر دھیان دے کر اُن پر عمل کرو۔

Then the LORD said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them.

تمہارے باپ دادا کو مصر سے نکالتے وقت مَیں نے اُنہیں آگاہ کیا کہ میری سنو۔ آج تک مَیں بار بار یہی بات دہراتا رہا،

For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.

لیکن اُنہوں نے نہ میری سنی، نہ دھیان دیا بلکہ ہر ایک اپنے شریر دل کی ضد کے مطابق زندگی گزارتا رہا۔ عہد کی جن باتوں پر مَیں نے اُنہیں عمل کرنے کا حکم دیا تھا اُن پر اُنہوں نے عمل نہ کیا۔ نتیجے میں مَیں اُن پر وہ تمام لعنتیں لایا جو عہد میں بیان کی گئی ہیں۔“

Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the imagination of their evil heart: therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do; but they did them not.

رب مزید مجھ سے ہم کلام ہوا، ”یہوداہ اور یروشلم کے باشندوں نے میرے خلاف سازش کی ہے۔

And the LORD said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

اُن سے وہی گناہ سرزد ہوئے ہیں جو اُن کے باپ دادا نے کئے تھے۔ کیونکہ یہ بھی میری باتیں سننے کے لئے تیار نہیں ہیں، یہ بھی اجنبی معبودوں کے پیچھے ہو لئے ہیں تاکہ اُن کی خدمت کریں۔ اسرائیل اور یہوداہ نے مل کر وہ عہد توڑا ہے جو مَیں نے اُن کے باپ دادا سے باندھا تھا۔

They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.

اِس لئے رب فرماتا ہے کہ مَیں اُن پر ایسی آفت نازل کروں گا جس سے وہ بچ نہیں سکیں گے۔ تب وہ مدد کے لئے مجھ سے فریاد کریں گے، لیکن مَیں اُن کی نہیں سنوں گا۔

Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.

پھر یہوداہ اور یروشلم کے باشندے اپنے شہروں سے نکل کر چیختے چلّاتے اُن دیوتاؤں سے منت کریں گے جن کے سامنے بخور جلاتے رہے ہیں۔ لیکن اب جب وہ مصیبت میں مبتلا ہوں گے تو یہ اُنہیں نہیں بچائیں گے۔

Then shall the cities of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem go, and cry unto the gods unto whom they offer incense: but they shall not save them at all in the time of their trouble.

اے یہوداہ، تیرے دیوتا تیرے شہروں جیسے بےشمار ہو گئے ہیں۔ شرم ناک دیوتا بعل کے لئے بخور جلانے کی اِتنی قربان گاہیں کھڑی کی گئی ہیں جتنی یروشلم میں گلیاں ہوتی ہیں۔

For according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to that shameful thing, even altars to burn incense unto Baal.

اے یرمیاہ، اِس قوم کے لئے دعا مت کرنا! اِس کے لئے نہ منت کر، نہ سماجت۔ کیونکہ جب آفت اُن پر آئے گی اور وہ چلّا کر مجھ سے فریاد کریں گے تو مَیں اُن کی نہیں سنوں گا۔

Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me for their trouble.

میری پیاری قوم میرے گھر میں کیوں حاضر ہوتی ہے؟ وہ تو اپنی بےشمار سازشوں سے باز ہی نہیں آتی۔ کیا آنے والی آفت قربانی کا مُقدّس گوشت پیش کرنے سے رُک جائے گی؟ اگر ایسا ہوتا تو تُو خوشی منا سکتی۔

What hath my beloved to do in mine house, seeing she hath wrought lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee? when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.

رب نے تیرا نام ’زیتون کا پھلتا پھولتا درخت جس کا خوب صورت پھل ہے‘ رکھا، لیکن اب وہ زبردست آندھی کا شور مچا کر درخت کو آگ لگائے گا۔ تب اُس کی تمام ڈالیاں بھسم ہو جائیں گی۔

The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.

اے اسرائیل اور یہوداہ، رب الافواج نے خود تمہیں زمین میں لگایا۔ لیکن اب اُس نے تم پر آفت لانے کا فیصلہ کیا ہے۔ کیوں؟ تمہارے غلط کام کی وجہ سے، اور اِس لئے کہ تم نے بعل دیوتا کو بخور کی قربانیاں پیش کر کے مجھے طیش دلایا ہے۔“

For the LORD of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal.

رب نے مجھے اطلاع دی تو مجھے معلوم ہوا۔ ہاں، اُس وقت تُو ہی نے مجھے اُن کے منصوبوں سے آگاہ کیا۔

And the LORD hath given me knowledge of it, and I know it: then thou shewedst me their doings.

پہلے مَیں اُس بھولے بھالے بھیڑ کے بچے کی مانند تھا جسے قصائی کے پاس لایا جا رہا ہو۔ مجھے کیا پتا تھا کہ یہ میرے خلاف سازشیں کر رہے ہیں۔ آپس میں وہ کہہ رہے تھے، ”آؤ، ہم درخت کو پھل سمیت ختم کریں، آؤ ہم اُسے زندوں کے ملک میں سے مٹائیں تاکہ اُس کا نام و نشان تک یاد نہ رہے۔“

But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.

اے رب الافواج، تُو عادل منصف ہے جو لوگوں کے سب سے گہرے خیالات اور راز جانچ لیتا ہے۔ اب بخش دے کہ مَیں اپنی آنکھوں سے وہ انتقام دیکھوں جو تُو میرے مخالفوں سے لے گا۔ کیونکہ مَیں نے اپنا معاملہ تیرے ہی سپرد کر دیا ہے۔

But, O LORD of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I revealed my cause.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”عنتوت کے آدمی تجھے قتل کرنا چاہتے ہیں۔ وہ کہتے ہیں، ’رب کا نام لے کر نبوّت مت کرنا، ورنہ تُو ہمارے ہاتھوں مار دیا جائے گا‘۔“

Therefore thus saith the LORD of the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying, Prophesy not in the name of the LORD, that thou die not by our hand:

چونکہ یہ لوگ ایسی باتیں کرتے ہیں اِس لئے رب الافواج فرماتا ہے، ”مَیں اُنہیں سزا دوں گا! اُن کے جوان آدمی تلوار سے اور اُن کے بیٹے بیٹیاں کال سے ہلاک ہو جائیں گے۔

Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine:

اُن میں سے ایک بھی نہیں بچے گا۔ کیونکہ جس سال اُن کی سزا نازل ہو گی، اُس وقت مَیں عنتوت کے آدمیوں پر سخت آفت لاؤں گا۔“

And there shall be no remnant of them: for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation.
