Ezekiel 33

رب مجھ سے ہم کلام ہوا،

Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

”اے آدم زاد، اپنے ہم وطنوں کو یہ پیغام پہنچا دے، ’جب کبھی مَیں کسی ملک میں جنگ چھیڑتا ہوں تو اُس ملک کے باشندے اپنے مردوں میں سے ایک کو چن کر اپنا پہرے دار بنا لیتے ہیں۔

Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:

پہرے دار کی ذمہ داری یہ ہے کہ جوں ہی دشمن نظر آئے توں ہی نرسنگا بجا کر لوگوں کو آگاہ کرے۔

If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people;

اُس وقت جو نرسنگے کی آواز سن کر پروا نہ کرے وہ خود ذمہ دار ٹھہرے گا اگر دشمن اُس پر حملہ کر کے اُسے قتل کرے۔

Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.

یہ اُس کا اپنا قصور ہو گا، کیونکہ اُس نے نرسنگے کی آواز سننے کے باوجود پروا نہ کی۔ لیکن اگر وہ پہرے دار کی خبر مان لے تو اپنی جان کو بچائے گا۔

He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.

اب فرض کرو کہ پہرے دار دشمن کو دیکھے لیکن نہ نرسنگا بجائے، نہ لوگوں کو آگاہ کرے۔ اگر نتیجے میں کوئی قتل ہو جائے تو وہ اپنے گناہوں کے باعث ہی مر جائے گا۔ لیکن مَیں پہرے دار کو اُس کی موت کا ذمہ دار ٹھہراؤں گا۔‘

But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.

اے آدم زاد، مَیں نے تجھے اسرائیلی قوم کی پہرہ داری کرنے کی ذمہ داری دی ہے۔ اِس لئے لازم ہے کہ جب بھی مَیں کچھ فرماؤں تو تُو میری سن کر اسرائیلیوں کو میری طرف سے آگاہ کرے۔

So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.

اگر مَیں کسی بےدین کو بتانا چاہوں، ’تُو یقیناً مرے گا‘ تو لازم ہے کہ تُو اُسے یہ سنا کر اُس کی غلط راہ سے آگاہ کرے۔ اگر تُو ایسا نہ کرے تو گو بےدین اپنے گناہوں کے باعث ہی مرے گا تاہم مَیں تجھے ہی اُس کی موت کا ذمہ دار ٹھہراؤں گا۔

When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

لیکن اگر تُو اُسے اُس کی غلط راہ سے آگاہ کرے اور وہ نہ مانے تو وہ اپنے گناہوں کے باعث مرے گا، لیکن تُو نے اپنی جان کو بچایا ہو گا۔

Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

اے آدم زاد، اسرائیلیوں کو بتا، تم آہیں بھر بھر کر کہتے ہو، ’ہائے ہم اپنے جرائم اور گناہوں کے باعث گل سڑ کر تباہ ہو رہے ہیں۔ ہم کس طرح جیتے رہیں؟‘

Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Israel; Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins be upon us, and we pine away in them, how should we then live?

لیکن رب قادرِ مطلق فرماتا ہے، ’میری حیات کی قَسم، مَیں بےدین کی موت سے خوش نہیں ہوتا بلکہ مَیں چاہتا ہوں کہ وہ اپنی غلط راہ سے ہٹ کر زندہ رہے۔ چنانچہ توبہ کرو! اپنی غلط راہوں کو ترک کر کے واپس آؤ! اے اسرائیلی قوم، کیا ضرورت ہے کہ تُو مر جائے؟‘

Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

اے آدم زاد، اپنے ہم وطنوں کو بتا، ’اگر راست باز غلط کام کرے تو یہ بات اُسے نہیں بچائے گی کہ پہلے راست باز تھا۔ اگر وہ گناہ کرے تو اُسے زندہ نہیں چھوڑا جائے گا۔ اِس کے مقابلے میں اگر بےدین اپنی بےدینی سے توبہ کر کے واپس آئے تو یہ بات اُس کی تباہی کا باعث نہیں بنے گی کہ پہلے بےدین تھا۔‘

Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth.

ہو سکتا ہے مَیں راست باز کو بتاؤں، ’تُو زندہ رہے گا۔‘ اگر وہ یہ سن کر سمجھنے لگے، ’میری راست بازی مجھے ہر صورت میں بچائے گی‘ اور نتیجے میں غلط کام کرے تو مَیں اُس کے تمام راست کاموں کا لحاظ نہیں کروں گا بلکہ اُس کے غلط کام کے باعث اُسے سزائے موت دوں گا۔

When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.

لیکن فرض کرو مَیں کسی بےدین آدمی کو بتاؤں، ’تُو یقیناً مرے گا۔‘ ہو سکتا ہے وہ یہ سن کر اپنے گناہ سے توبہ کر کے انصاف اور راست بازی کرنے لگے۔

Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right;

وہ اپنے قرض دار کو وہ کچھ واپس کرے جو ضمانت کے طور پر ملا تھا، وہ چوری ہوئی چیزیں واپس کر دے، وہ زندگی بخش ہدایات کے مطابق زندگی گزارے، غرض وہ ہر بُرے کام سے گریز کرے۔ اِس صورت میں وہ مرے گا نہیں بلکہ زندہ ہی رہے گا۔

If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die.

جو بھی گناہ اُس سے سرزد ہوئے تھے وہ مَیں یاد نہیں کروں گا۔ چونکہ اُس نے بعد میں وہ کچھ کیا جو منصفانہ اور راست تھا اِس لئے وہ یقیناً زندہ رہے گا۔

None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live.

تیرے ہم وطن اعتراض کرتے ہیں کہ رب کا سلوک صحیح نہیں ہے جبکہ اُن کا اپنا سلوک صحیح نہیں ہے۔

Yet the children of thy people say, The way of the Lord is not equal: but as for them, their way is not equal.

اگر راست باز اپنا راست چال چلن چھوڑ کر بدی کرنے لگے تو اُسے سزائے موت دی جائے گی۔

When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby.

اِس کے مقابلے میں اگر بےدین اپنا بےدین چال چلن چھوڑ کر وہ کچھ کرنے لگے جو منصفانہ اور راست ہے تو وہ اِس بنا پر زندہ رہے گا۔

But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby.

اے اسرائیلیو، تم دعویٰ کرتے ہو کہ رب کا سلوک صحیح نہیں ہے۔ لیکن ایسا ہرگز نہیں ہے! تمہاری عدالت کرتے وقت مَیں ہر ایک کے چال چلن کا خیال کروں گا۔“

Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. O ye house of Israel, I will judge you every one after his ways.

یہویاکین بادشاہ کی جلاوطنی کے 12ویں سال میں ایک آدمی میرے پاس آیا۔ 10ویں مہینے کا پانچواں دن تھا۔ یہ آدمی یروشلم سے بھاگ نکلا تھا۔ اُس نے کہا، ”یروشلم دشمن کے قبضے میں آ گیا ہے!“

And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, that one that had escaped out of Jerusalem came unto me, saying, The city is smitten.

ایک دن پہلے رب کا ہاتھ شام کے وقت مجھ پر آیا تھا، اور اگلے دن جب یہ آدمی صبح کے وقت پہنچا تو رب نے میرے منہ کو کھول دیا، اور مَیں دوبارہ بول سکا۔

Now the hand of the LORD was upon me in the evening, afore he that was escaped came; and had opened my mouth, until he came to me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and I was no more dumb.

رب مجھ سے ہم کلام ہوا،

Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

”اے آدم زاد، ملکِ اسرائیل کے کھنڈرات میں رہنے والے لوگ کہہ رہے ہیں، ’گو ابراہیم صرف ایک آدمی تھا توبھی اُس نے پورے ملک پر قبضہ کیا۔ اُس کی نسبت ہم بہت ہیں، اِس لئے لازم ہے کہ ہمیں یہ ملک حاصل ہو۔‘

Son of man, they that inhabit those wastes of the land of Israel speak, saying, Abraham was one, and he inherited the land: but we are many; the land is given us for inheritance.

اُنہیں بتا، ’رب قادرِ مطلق فرماتا ہے کہ تم گوشت کھاتے ہو جس میں خون ہے، تمہارے ہاں بُت پرستی اور خوں ریزی عام ہے۔ تو پھر ملک کس طرح تمہیں حاصل ہو سکتا ہے؟

Wherefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Ye eat with the blood, and lift up your eyes toward your idols, and shed blood: and shall ye possess the land?

تم اپنی تلوار پر بھروسا رکھ کر قابلِ گھن حرکتیں کرتے ہو، حتیٰ کہ ہر ایک اپنے پڑوسی کی بیوی سے زنا کرتا ہے۔ تو پھر ملک کس طرح تمہیں حاصل ہو سکتا ہے؟‘

Ye stand upon your sword, ye work abomination, and ye defile every one his neighbour's wife: and shall ye possess the land?

اُنہیں بتا، ’رب قادرِ مطلق فرماتا ہے کہ میری حیات کی قَسم، جو اسرائیل کے کھنڈرات میں رہتے ہیں وہ تلوار کی زد میں آ کر ہلاک ہو جائیں گے، جو بچ کر کھلے میدان میں جا بسے ہیں اُنہیں مَیں درندوں کو کھلا دوں گا، اور جنہوں نے پہاڑی قلعوں اور غاروں میں پناہ لی ہے وہ مہلک بیماریوں کا شکار ہو جائیں گے۔

Say thou thus unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely they that are in the wastes shall fall by the sword, and him that is in the open field will I give to the beasts to be devoured, and they that be in the forts and in the caves shall die of the pestilence.

مَیں ملک کو ویران و سنسان کر دوں گا۔ جس طاقت پر وہ فخر کرتے ہیں وہ جاتی رہے گی۔ اسرائیل کا پہاڑی علاقہ بھی اِتنا تباہ ہو جائے گا کہ لوگ اُس میں سے گزرنے سے گریز کریں گے۔

For I will lay the land most desolate, and the pomp of her strength shall cease; and the mountains of Israel shall be desolate, that none shall pass through.

پھر جب مَیں ملک کو اُن کی مکروہ حرکتوں کے باعث ویران و سنسان کر دوں گا تب وہ جان لیں گے کہ مَیں ہی رب ہوں۔‘

Then shall they know that I am the LORD, when I have laid the land most desolate because of all their abominations which they have committed.

اے آدم زاد، تیرے ہم وطن اپنے گھروں کی دیواروں اور دروازوں کے پاس کھڑے ہو کر تیرا ذکر کرتے ہیں۔ وہ کہتے ہیں، ’آؤ، ہم نبی کے پاس جا کر وہ پیغام سنیں جو رب کی طرف سے آیا ہے۔‘

Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the LORD.

لیکن گو اِن لوگوں کے ہجوم آ کر تیرے پیغامات سننے کے لئے تیرے سامنے بیٹھ جاتے ہیں توبھی وہ اُن پر عمل نہیں کرتے۔ کیونکہ اُن کی زبان پر عشق کے ہی گیت ہیں۔ اُن ہی پر وہ عمل کرتے ہیں، جبکہ اُن کا دل ناروا نفع کے پیچھے پڑا رہتا ہے۔

And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.

اصل میں وہ تیری باتیں یوں سنتے ہیں جس طرح کسی گلوکار کے گیت جو مہارت سے ساز بجا کر سُریلی آواز سے عشق کے گیت گائے۔ گو وہ تیری باتیں سن کر خوش ہو جاتے ہیں توبھی اُن پر عمل نہیں کرتے۔

And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.

لیکن یقیناً ایک دن آنے والا ہے جب وہ جان لیں گے کہ ہمارے درمیان نبی رہا ہے۔“

And when this cometh to pass, (lo, it will come,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them.
