Isaiah 60

Stå op, bli lys! For ditt lys kommer, og Herrens herlighet går op over dig.

Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.

Se, mørke dekker jorden, og mulm folkene, men over dig skal Herren opgå, og over dig skal hans herlighet åpenbare sig,

For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

og folkeslag skal søke til ditt lys, og konger til den glans som er gått op over dig.

And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

Løft dine øine og se dig omkring! De samler sig alle sammen, de kommer til dig; dine sønner skal komme fra det fjerne, og dine døtre skal bæres på armen.

Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.

Da skal du se det og stråle av glede, og ditt hjerte skal banke og utvide sig; for havets rikdom skal vende sig til dig, folkenes gods skal komme til dig.

Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.

Et mylder av kameler skal dekke dig, Midians og Efas kamelføll; alle sammen skal de komme fra Sjeba; gull og virak skal de føre til dig, og Herrens pris skal de forkynne.

The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all they from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall shew forth the praises of the LORD.

Alle Kedars får skal samles til dig, Nebajots værer skal tjene dig; til mitt velbehag skal de ofres på mitt alter, og min herlighets hus vil jeg herliggjøre.

All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together unto thee, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister unto thee: they shall come up with acceptance on mine altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory.

Hvem er disse som kommer flyvende som skyer, som duer til sine dueslag?

Who are these that fly as a cloud, and as the doves to their windows?

For på mig skal øene vente, og fremst seiler Tarsis-skibene og fører dine barn hit fra det fjerne, deres sølv og gull kommer med dem - for Herrens, din Guds navns skyld, for Israels Helliges skyld, for han herliggjør dig.

Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the LORD thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath glorified thee.

Og fremmede skal bygge dine murer, og deres konger skal tjene dig; i min harme har jeg slått dig, men i min nåde har jeg forbarmet mig over dig.

And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee.

Og dine porter skal holdes åpne all tid, hverken dag eller natt skal de lukkes, så folkenes gods kan føres inn til dig, og deres konger føres med som fanger.

Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought.

For det folk og det rike som ikke vil tjene dig, skal gå til grunne, og hedningene skal bli aldeles ødelagt.

For the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted.

Libanons herlighet skal komme til dig, både cypress og lønn og buksbom, for å pryde det sted der min helligdom er, og det sted hvor mine føtter står, vil jeg herliggjøre.

The glory of Lebanon shall come unto thee, the fir tree, the pine tree, and the box together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious.

Og barna til dem som har plaget dig, skal komme bøiede til dig, og alle de som har foraktet dig, skal kaste sig ned for dine føtter, og de skal kalle dig Herrens stad, Israels Helliges Sion.

The sons also of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee; and all they that despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee, The city of the LORD, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

I stedet for at du var forlatt og hatet, så det ikke var nogen som drog igjennem dig, vil jeg gjøre dig til en evig herlighet, en fryd for slekt efter slekt.

Whereas thou hast been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through thee, I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations.

Og du skal die hedningefolks melk, ja, kongers bryst skal du die, og du skal kjenne at jeg, Herren, er din frelser, og Jakobs Veldige din gjenløser.

Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings: and thou shalt know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.

I stedet for kobber vil jeg gi gull, i stedet for jern vil jeg gi sølv, i stedet for tre kobber og i stedet for sten jern, og jeg vil gjøre fred til din øvrighet og rettferdighet til din styrer.

For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron: I will also make thy officers peace, and thine exactors righteousness.

Det skal ikke mere høres om vold i ditt land, ikke om hærfang og ødeleggelse innen dine landemerker, og du skal kalle frelsen dine murer og lovsangen dine porter.

Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise.

Solen skal ikke mere være ditt lys om dagen, og månen skal ikke skinne og lyse for dig; men Herren skal være et evig lys for dig, og din Gud skal være din herlighet.

The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.

Din sol skal ikke mere gå ned, og din måne ikke miste sitt skinn; for Herren skal være et evig lys for dig, og din sorgs dager skal være til ende.

Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.

Og ditt folk - de er alle sammen rettferdige; til evig tid skal de eie landet; de er jo en kvist som jeg har plantet, et verk av mine hender til min ære.

Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified.

Den minste skal bli til tusen, og den ringeste til et veldig folk; jeg, Herren, jeg vil la det skje hastig, i sin tid.

A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the LORD will hasten it in his time.
