Jeremiah 21

The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, when king Zedekiah sent unto him Pashur the son of Melchiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, saying,

Có lời từ nơi Ðức Giê-hô-va phán cho Giê-rê-mi, khi vua Sê-đê-kia sai Pha-su-rơ, con trai Manh-ki-gia, và Sô-phô-ni, con trai thầy tế lễ Ma-a-sê-gia, đến cùng người mà rằng:

Enquire, I pray thee, of the LORD for us; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon maketh war against us; if so be that the LORD will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us.

Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa, vua Ba-by-lôn, đến đánh chúng ta, nên hãy vì chúng ta cầu hỏi Ðức Giê-hô-va; có lẽ Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ vì chúng ta làm y theo mọi việc lạ lùng của Ngài, cho người lìa khỏi chúng ta.

Then said Jeremiah unto them, Thus shall ye say to Zedekiah:

Giê-rê-mi đáp rằng: Các ông hãy tâu lại cùng Sê-đê-kia như vầy:

Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, wherewith ye fight against the king of Babylon, and against the Chaldeans, which besiege you without the walls, and I will assemble them into the midst of this city.

Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên, phán như vầy: Nầy, những binh khí trong tay các ngươi đương cầm để đánh đuổi vua Ba-by-lôn và người Canh-đê hiện vây các ngươi ở ngoài tường thành, thì ta sẽ khiến lui về, và thâu lại vào giữa thành nầy.

And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath.

Chính ta sẽ chiến đấu nghịch cùng các ngươi, dùng tay giang ra, cánh tay mạnh sức, nổi nóng, phát giận và sự thạnh nộ lớn.

And I will smite the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast: they shall die of a great pestilence.

Ta sẽ đánh dân cư thành nầy cả người và vật: chúng nó sẽ chết dịch rất lớn.

And afterward, saith the LORD, I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, and such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those that seek their life: and he shall smite them with the edge of the sword; he shall not spare them, neither have pity, nor have mercy.

Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Sau đó, ta sẽ phó Sê-đê-kia, vua Giu-đa, tôi tớ và dân nó, tức những kẻ còn lại trong thành, đã tránh khỏi dịch lệ, gươm dao, đói kém, ta sẽ phó chúng nó vào tay Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa, vua Ba-by-lôn, vào tay những kẻ cừu thù và những kẻ đòi mạng chúng nó. Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa sẽ đánh chúng nó bằng lưỡi gươm, không dè tiếc, không áy náy, không thương xót.

And unto this people thou shalt say, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death.

Ngươi khá nói cùng dân nầy rằng: Ðức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Nầy, ta đặt trước mặt các ngươi con đường sống và con đường chết.

He that abideth in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goeth out, and falleth to the Chaldeans that besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be unto him for a prey.

Kẻ nào cứ ở lại trong thành nầy sẽ chết bởi gươm dao, đói kém, và ôn dịch; nhưng kẻ nào ra khỏi, đi sang cùng người Canh-đê, tức người đương vây mình, thì sẽ sống, và sự sống mình sẽ làm của cướp cho mình.

For I have set my face against this city for evil, and not for good, saith the LORD: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.

Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Vì ta để mặt ta trên thành nầy mà xuống họa cho, chớ không phải xuống phước; thành ấy sẽ bị phó vào tay vua Ba-by-lôn, người sẽ lấy lửa đốt đi.

And touching the house of the king of Judah, say, Hear ye the word of the LORD;

Luận về nhà vua Giu-đa, hãy nghe lời của Ðức Giê-hô-va:

O house of David, thus saith the LORD; Execute judgment in the morning, and deliver him that is spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my fury go out like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.

Ðức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Hỡi nhà Ða-vít, vừa lúc ban mai hãy làm sự công bình, hãy cứu kẻ bị cướp ra khỏi tay người ức hiếp, e rằng vì các ngươi làm điều ác, mà ta phát giận ra như lửa, cháy không ai tắt được chăng.

Behold, I am against thee, O inhabitant of the valley, and rock of the plain, saith the LORD; which say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations?

Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Nầy, hỡi kẻ ở trong nơi trũng, trên vầng đá nơi đồng bằng kia, ta nghịch các ngươi, là những người nói rằng: Ai sẽ xuống nghịch cùng chúng ta? ai sẽ sấn vào nơi chúng ta ở?

But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith the LORD: and I will kindle a fire in the forest thereof, and it shall devour all things round about it.

Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Ta sẽ phạt các ngươi theo quả của việc làm các ngươi; ta sẽ đốt lửa trong rừng nó, lửa sẽ nuốt hết mọi vật ở chung quanh nó.
