I Samuel 24

And it came to pass, when Saul was returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying, Behold, David is in the wilderness of En–gedi.

(24:2) Khi Sau-lơ đuổi theo Phi-li-tin trở về rồi, có người đến nói cùng Sau-lơ rằng: Kìa, Ða-vít ở trong đồng vắng Eân-ghê-đi.

Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men upon the rocks of the wild goats.

(24:3) Sau-lơ bèn đem ba ngàn người chọn trong cả dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, kéo ra đi kiếm Ða-vít và những kẻ theo người cho đến các hòn đá của dê rừng.

And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave.

(24:4) Sau-lơ đi đến gần chuồng chiên ở trên đường. Tại đó có một hang đá; Sau-lơ bèn vào đó đặng đi tiện. Vả, Ða-vít và bọn theo người ở trong cùng hang.

And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the LORD said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe privily.

(24:5) Những kẻ theo Ða-vít nói cùng người rằng: Nầy là ngày mà Ðức Giê-hô-va có phán cùng ông: Ta sẽ phó kẻ thù nghịch ngươi vào tay ngươi. Hãy xử người tùy ý ông. Nhưng Ða-vít đứng dậy, cắt trộm vạt áo tơi của Sau-lơ.

And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt.

(24:6) Ðoạn lòng người tự trách về điều mình đã cắt vạt áo tơi của vua.

And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORD'S anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD.

(24:7) Người nói cùng kẻ theo mình rằng: Nguyện Ðức Giê-hô-va chớ để ta phạm tội cùng chúa ta, là kẻ chịu xức dầu của Ðức Giê-hô-va, mà tra tay trên mình người, vì người là kẻ chịu xức dầu của Ðức Giê-hô-va.

So David stayed his servants with these words, and suffered them not to rise against Saul. But Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.

(24:8) Ða-vít nói những lời ấy quở trách các kẻ theo mình, mà ngăn cản chúng xông vào mình Sau-lơ. Sau-lơ đứng dậy, ra khỏi hang đá, và cứ đi đường mình.

David also arose afterward, and went out of the cave, and cried after Saul, saying, My lord the king. And when Saul looked behind him, David stooped with his face to the earth, and bowed himself.

(24:9) Ðoạn Ða-vít cũng chổi dậy, đi ra khỏi hang đá, gọi Sau-lơ, mà nói rằng: Hỡi vua, chúa tôi! Sau-lơ ngó lại sau mình, thì Ða-vít cúi mặt xuống đất mà lạy.

And David said to Saul, Wherefore hearest thou men's words, saying, Behold, David seeketh thy hurt?

(24:10) Ða-vít nói cùng Sau-lơ rằng: Nhân sao vua nghe những lời của kẻ nói rằng: Ða-vít kiếm thế làm hại vua?

Behold, this day thine eyes have seen how that the LORD had delivered thee to day into mine hand in the cave: and some bade me kill thee: but mine eye spared thee; and I said, I will not put forth mine hand against my lord; for he is the LORD'S anointed.

(24:11) Kìa, hãy xem, chính mắt vua có thế thấy được rằng ngày nay, trong hang đá, Ðức Giê-hô-va đã phó vua vào tay tôi. Có người biểu giết vua; nhưng tôi dong-thứ cho vua, mà rằng: ta không tra tay trên mình chúa ta, vì người là đấng chịu xức dầu của Ðức Giê-hô-va.

Moreover, my father, see, yea, see the skirt of thy robe in my hand: for in that I cut off the skirt of thy robe, and killed thee not, know thou and see that there is neither evil nor transgression in mine hand, and I have not sinned against thee; yet thou huntest my soul to take it.

(24:12) Vậy, cha ôi! hãy xem cái vạt áo tơi cha mà tôi cầm trong tay; bởi vì tôi có vạt ái tơi của cha, mà không giết cha, thì nhơn đó khá biết và nhận rằng nơi tôi chẳng có sự ác, hoặc sự phản nghịch, tôi chẳng có phạm tội gì với cha. Còn cha, lại săn mạng sống tôi để cất nó đi. Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ đoán xét cha và tôi.

The LORD judge between me and thee, and the LORD avenge me of thee: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.

(24:13) Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ báo thù cha cho tôi, nhưng tôi không tra tay vào mình cha.

As saith the proverb of the ancients, Wickedness proceedeth from the wicked: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.

(24:14) Như câu cổ ngữ nói: Sự ác do kẻ ác ra, nhưng tay tôi sẽ không đụng đến mình cha.

After whom is the king of Israel come out? after whom dost thou pursue? after a dead dog, after a flea.

(24:15) Vua Y-sơ-ra-ên kéo ra đánh ai? Cha đuổi theo ai? Một con chó chết! Một con bọ chét!

The LORD therefore be judge, and judge between me and thee, and see, and plead my cause, and deliver me out of thine hand.

(24:16) Thế thì, Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ làm quan xét, sẽ đoán xét cha và tôi; Ngài sẽ xem xét, binh vực cớ lý tôi, và xử cách công bình mà giải cứu tôi khỏi tay cha.

And it came to pass, when David had made an end of speaking these words unto Saul, that Saul said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And Saul lifted up his voice, and wept.

(24:17) Khi Ða-vít nói xong các lời nầy, thì Sau-lơ đáp rằng: Hỡi Ða-vít, con ta, có phải tiếng con chăng? Sau-lơ cất tiếng lên khóc,

And he said to David, Thou art more righteous than I: for thou hast rewarded me good, whereas I have rewarded thee evil.

(24:18) nói cùng Ða-vít rằng: Con thật công bình hơn cha; vì con có lấy điều thiện mà báo điều ác cha đã làm cho con.

And thou hast shewed this day how that thou hast dealt well with me: forasmuch as when the LORD had delivered me into thine hand, thou killedst me not.

(24:19) Ngày nay, con đã tỏ ra con lấy điều thiện đối cùng cha; vì Ðức Giê-hô-va đã phó cha vào tay con, song con không có giết cha.

For if a man find his enemy, will he let him go well away? wherefore the LORD reward thee good for that thou hast done unto me this day.

(24:20) Khi người nào gặp kẻ thù nghịch mình, há để cho nó đi bình yên vô sự sao? Nguyện Ðức Giê-hô-va lấy điều thiện báo cho con về sự con đã làm cho cha ngày nay!

And now, behold, I know well that thou shalt surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in thine hand.

(24:21) Quả hẳn ta biết rằng con sẽ làm vua, và nước Y-sơ-ra-ên sẽ bền lâu ở trong tay con.

Swear now therefore unto me by the LORD, that thou wilt not cut off my seed after me, and that thou wilt not destroy my name out of my father's house.

(24:22) Vậy bây giờ, hãy nhơn danh Ðức Giê-hô-va thề cùng ta rằng con sẽ chẳng diệt dòng dõi ta, và chẳng hủy danh ta khỏi nhà tổ phụ ta.

And David sware unto Saul. And Saul went home; but David and his men gat them up unto the hold.

(24:23) Ða-vít lập lời thề cùng Sau-lơ. Sau-lơ bèn trở về nhà mình; còn Ða-vít và các kẻ theo người trở lên nơi đồn.
