I Samuel 28

And it came to pass in those days, that the Philistines gathered their armies together for warfare, to fight with Israel. And Achish said unto David, Know thou assuredly, that thou shalt go out with me to battle, thou and thy men.

اُن دنوں میں فلستی اسرائیل سے لڑنے کے لئے اپنی فوجیں جمع کرنے لگے۔ اَکیس نے داؤد سے بھی بات کی، ”توقع ہے کہ آپ اپنے فوجیوں سمیت میرے ساتھ مل کر جنگ کے لئے نکلیں گے۔“

And David said to Achish, Surely thou shalt know what thy servant can do. And Achish said to David, Therefore will I make thee keeper of mine head for ever.

داؤد نے جواب دیا، ”ضرور۔ اب آپ خود دیکھیں گے کہ آپ کا خادم کیا کرنے کے قابل ہے!“ اَکیس بولا، ”ٹھیک ہے۔ پوری جنگ کے دوران آپ میرے محافظ ہوں گے۔“

Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land.

اُس وقت سموایل انتقال کر چکا تھا، اور پورے اسرائیل نے اُس کا ماتم کر کے اُسے اُس کے آبائی شہر رامہ میں دفنایا تھا۔ اُن دنوں میں اسرائیل میں مُردوں سے رابطہ کرنے والے اور غیب دان نہیں تھے، کیونکہ ساؤل نے اُنہیں پورے ملک سے نکال دیا تھا۔

And the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and pitched in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they pitched in Gilboa.

اب فلستیوں نے اپنی لشکرگاہ شونیم کے پاس لگائی جبکہ ساؤل نے تمام اسرائیلیوں کو جمع کر کے جِلبوعہ کے پاس اپنا کیمپ لگایا۔

And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled.

فلستیوں کی بڑی فوج دیکھ کر وہ سخت دہشت کھانے لگا۔

And when Saul enquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.

اُس نے رب سے ہدایت حاصل کرنے کی کوشش کی، لیکن کوئی جواب نہ ملا، نہ خواب، نہ مُقدّس قرعہ ڈالنے سے اور نہ نبیوں کی معرفت۔

Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.

تب ساؤل نے اپنے ملازموں کو حکم دیا، ”میرے لئے مُردوں سے رابطہ کرنے والی ڈھونڈو تاکہ مَیں جا کر اُس سے معلومات حاصل کر لوں۔“ ملازموں نے جواب دیا، ”عین دور میں ایسی عورت ہے۔“

And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.

ساؤل بھیس بدل کر دو آدمیوں کے ساتھ عین دور کے لئے روانہ ہوا۔ رات کے وقت وہ جادوگرنی کے پاس پہنچ گیا اور بولا، ”مُردوں سے رابطہ کر کے اُس روح کو پاتال سے بُلا دیں جس کا نام مَیں آپ کو بتاتا ہوں۔“

And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?

جادوگرنی نے اعتراض کیا، ”کیا آپ مجھے مروانا چاہتے ہیں؟ آپ کو پتا ہے کہ ساؤل نے تمام غیب دانوں اور مُردوں سے رابطہ کرنے والوں کو ملک میں سے مٹا دیا ہے۔ آپ مجھے کیوں پھنسانا چاہتے ہیں؟“

And Saul sware to her by the LORD, saying, As the LORD liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.

تب ساؤل نے کہا، ”رب کی حیات کی قَسم، آپ کو یہ کرنے کے لئے سزا نہیں ملے گی۔“

Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.

عورت نے پوچھا، ”مَیں کس کو بُلاؤں؟“ ساؤل نے جواب دیا، ”سموایل کو بُلا دیں۔“

And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul.

جب سموایل عورت کو نظر آیا تو وہ چیخ اُٹھی، ”آپ نے مجھے کیوں دھوکا دیا؟ آپ تو ساؤل ہیں!“

And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth.

ساؤل نے اُسے تسلی دے کر کہا، ”ڈریں مت۔ بتائیں تو سہی، کیا دیکھ رہی ہیں؟“ عورت نے جواب دیا، ”مجھے ایک روح نظر آ رہی ہے جو چڑھتی چڑھتی زمین میں سے نکل کر آ رہی ہے۔“

And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself.

ساؤل نے پوچھا، ”اُس کی شکل و صورت کیسی ہے؟“ جادوگرنی نے کہا، ”چوغے میں لپٹا ہوا بوڑھا آدمی ہے۔“ یہ سن کر ساؤل نے جان لیا کہ سموایل ہی ہے۔ وہ منہ کے بل زمین پر جھک گیا۔

And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.

سموایل بولا، ”تُو نے مجھے پاتال سے بُلوا کر کیوں مضطرب کر دیا ہے؟“ ساؤل نے جواب دیا، ”مَیں بڑی مصیبت میں ہوں۔ فلستی مجھ سے لڑ رہے ہیں، اور اللہ نے مجھے ترک کر دیا ہے۔ نہ وہ نبیوں کی معرفت مجھے ہدایت دیتا ہے، نہ خواب کے ذریعے۔ اِس لئے مَیں نے آپ کو بُلوایا ہے تاکہ آپ مجھے بتائیں کہ مَیں کیا کروں۔“

Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy?

لیکن سموایل نے کہا، ”رب خود ہی تجھے چھوڑ کر تیرا دشمن بن گیا ہے تو پھر مجھ سے دریافت کرنے کا کیا فائدہ ہے؟

And the LORD hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the LORD hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbour, even to David:

رب اِس وقت تیرے ساتھ وہ کچھ کر رہا ہے جس کی پیش گوئی اُس نے میری معرفت کی تھی۔ اُس نے تیرے ہاتھ سے بادشاہی چھین کر کسی اَور یعنی داؤد کو دے دی ہے۔

Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the LORD, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the LORD done this thing unto thee this day.

جب رب نے تجھے عمالیقیوں پر اُس کا سخت غضب نازل کرنے کا حکم دیا تھا تو تُو نے اُس کی نہ سنی۔ اب تجھے اِس کی سزا بھگتنی پڑے گی۔

Moreover the LORD will also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines: and to morrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me: the LORD also shall deliver the host of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.

رب تجھے اسرائیل سمیت فلستیوں کے حوالے کر دے گا۔ کل ہی تُو اور تیرے بیٹے یہاں میرے پاس پہنچیں گے۔ رب تیری پوری فوج بھی فلستیوں کے قبضے میں کر دے گا۔“

Then Saul fell straightway all along on the earth, and was sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night.

یہ سن کر ساؤل سخت گھبرا گیا، اور وہ گر کر زمین پر دراز ہو گیا۔ جسم کی پوری طاقت ختم ہو گئی تھی، کیونکہ اُس نے پچھلے پورے دن اور رات روزہ رکھا تھا۔

And the woman came unto Saul, and saw that he was sore troubled, and said unto him, Behold, thine handmaid hath obeyed thy voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and have hearkened unto thy words which thou spakest unto me.

جب جادوگرنی نے ساؤل کے پاس جا کر دیکھا کہ اُس کے رونگٹے کھڑے ہو گئے ہیں تو اُس نے کہا، ”جناب، مَیں نے آپ کا حکم مان کر اپنی جان خطرے میں ڈال دی۔

Now therefore, I pray thee, hearken thou also unto the voice of thine handmaid, and let me set a morsel of bread before thee; and eat, that thou mayest have strength, when thou goest on thy way.

اب ذرا میری بھی سنیں۔ مجھے اجازت دیں کہ مَیں آپ کو کچھ کھانا کھلاؤں تاکہ آپ تقویت پا کر واپس جا سکیں۔“

But he refused, and said, I will not eat. But his servants, together with the woman, compelled him; and he hearkened unto their voice. So he arose from the earth, and sat upon the bed.

لیکن ساؤل نے انکار کیا، ”مَیں کچھ نہیں کھاؤں گا۔“ تب اُس کے آدمیوں نے عورت کے ساتھ مل کر اُسے بہت سمجھایا، اور آخرکار اُس نے اُن کی سنی۔ وہ زمین سے اُٹھ کر چارپائی پر بیٹھ گیا۔

And the woman had a fat calf in the house; and she hasted, and killed it, and took flour, and kneaded it, and did bake unleavened bread thereof:

جادوگرنی کے پاس موٹا تازہ بچھڑا تھا۔ اُسے اُس نے جلدی سے ذبح کروا کر تیار کیا۔ اُس نے کچھ آٹا بھی لے کر گوندھا اور اُس سے بےخمیری روٹی بنائی۔

And she brought it before Saul, and before his servants; and they did eat. Then they rose up, and went away that night.

پھر اُس نے کھانا ساؤل اور اُس کے ملازموں کے سامنے رکھ دیا، اور اُنہوں نے کھایا۔ پھر وہ اُسی رات دوبارہ روانہ ہو گئے۔
