I Samuel 27

And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me any more in any coast of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand.

اِس تجربے کے بعد داؤد سوچنے لگا، ”اگر مَیں یہیں ٹھہر جاؤں تو کسی دن ساؤل مجھے مار ڈالے گا۔ بہتر ہے کہ اپنی حفاظت کے لئے فلستیوں کے ملک میں چلا جاؤں۔ تب ساؤل پورے اسرائیل میں میرا کھوج لگانے سے باز آئے گا، اور مَیں محفوظ رہوں گا۔“

And David arose, and he passed over with the six hundred men that were with him unto Achish, the son of Maoch, king of Gath.

چنانچہ وہ اپنے 600 آدمیوں کو لے کر جات کے بادشاہ اَکیس بن معوک کے پاس چلا گیا۔

And David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, even David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal's wife.

اُن کے خاندان ساتھ تھے۔ داؤد کی دو بیویاں اخی نوعم یزرعیلی اور نابال کی بیوہ ابی جیل کرملی بھی ساتھ تھیں۔ اَکیس نے اُنہیں جات شہر میں رہنے کی اجازت دی۔

And it was told Saul that David was fled to Gath: and he sought no more again for him.

جب ساؤل کو خبر ملی کہ داؤد نے جات میں پناہ لی ہے تو وہ اُس کا کھوج لگانے سے باز آیا۔

And David said unto Achish, If I have now found grace in thine eyes, let them give me a place in some town in the country, that I may dwell there: for why should thy servant dwell in the royal city with thee?

ایک دن داؤد نے اَکیس سے بات کی، ”اگر آپ کی نظرِ کرم مجھ پر ہے تو مجھے دیہات کی کسی آبادی میں رہنے کی اجازت دیں۔ کیا ضرورت ہے کہ مَیں یہاں آپ کے ساتھ دار الحکومت میں رہوں؟“

Then Achish gave him Ziklag that day: wherefore Ziklag pertaineth unto the kings of Judah unto this day.

اَکیس متفق ہوا۔ اُس دن اُس نے اُسے صِقلاج شہر دے دیا۔ یہ شہر اُس وقت سے یہوداہ کے بادشاہوں کی ملکیت میں رہا ہے۔

And the time that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines was a full year and four months.

داؤد ایک سال اور چار مہینے فلستی ملک میں ٹھہرا رہا۔

And David and his men went up, and invaded the Geshurites, and the Gezrites, and the Amalekites: for those nations were of old the inhabitants of the land, as thou goest to Shur, even unto the land of Egypt.

صِقلاج سے داؤد اپنے آدمیوں کے ساتھ مختلف جگہوں پر حملہ کرنے کے لئے نکلتا رہا۔ کبھی وہ جسوریوں پر دھاوا بولتے، کبھی جرزیوں یا عمالیقیوں پر۔ یہ قبیلے قدیم زمانے سے یہوداہ کے جنوب میں شُور اور مصر کی سرحد تک رہتے تھے۔

And David smote the land, and left neither man nor woman alive, and took away the sheep, and the oxen, and the asses, and the camels, and the apparel, and returned, and came to Achish.

جب بھی کوئی مقام داؤد کے قبضے میں آ جاتا تو وہ کسی بھی مرد یا عورت کو زندہ نہ رہنے دیتا لیکن بھیڑبکریوں، گائےبَیلوں، گدھوں، اونٹوں اور کپڑوں کو اپنے ساتھ صِقلاج لے جاتا۔ جب بھی داؤد کسی حملے سے واپس آ کر بادشاہ اَکیس سے ملتا

And Achish said, Whither have ye made a road to day? And David said, Against the south of Judah, and against the south of the Jerahmeelites, and against the south of the Kenites.

تو وہ پوچھتا، ”آج آپ نے کس پر چھاپہ مارا؟“ پھر داؤد جواب دیتا، ”یہوداہ کے جنوبی علاقے پر،“ یا ”یرحمئیلیوں کے جنوبی علاقے پر،“ یا ”قینیوں کے جنوبی علاقے پر۔“

And David saved neither man nor woman alive, to bring tidings to Gath, saying, Lest they should tell on us, saying, So did David, and so will be his manner all the while he dwelleth in the country of the Philistines.

جب بھی داؤد کسی آبادی پر حملہ کرتا تو وہ تمام باشندوں کو موت کے گھاٹ اُتار دیتا اور نہ مرد، نہ عورت کو زندہ چھوڑ کر جات لاتا۔ کیونکہ اُس نے سوچا، ”ایسا نہ ہو کہ فلستیوں کو پتا چلے کہ مَیں اصل میں اسرائیلی آبادیوں پر حملہ نہیں کر رہا۔“ جتنا وقت داؤد نے فلستی ملک میں گزارا وہ ایسا ہی کرتا رہا۔

And Achish believed David, saying, He hath made his people Israel utterly to abhor him; therefore he shall be my servant for ever.

اَکیس نے داؤد پر پورا بھروسا کیا، کیونکہ اُس نے سوچا، ”اب داؤد کو ہمیشہ تک میری خدمت میں رہنا پڑے گا، کیونکہ ایسی حرکتوں سے اُس کی اپنی قوم اُس سے سخت متنفر ہو گئی ہے۔“
