Ecclesiastes 12

Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;

Και ενθυμου τον Πλαστην σου εν ταις ημεραις της νεοτητος σου πριν ελθωσιν αι κακαι ημεραι, και φθασωσι τα ετη εις τα οποια θελεις ειπει, Δεν εχω ευχαριστησιν εις αυτα

While the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain:

πριν σκοτισθη ο ηλιος και το φως και σεληνη και οι αστερες, και επανελθωσι τα νεφη μετα την βροχην

In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened,

οτε οι φυλακες της οικιας θελουσι τρεμει, και οι ανδρες οι ισχυροι θελουσι κλονιζεσθαι, και αι αλεθουσαι θελουσι παυσει διοτι ωλιγοστευθησαν, και αι βλεπουσαι δια των θυριδων θελουσιν αμαυρωθη

And the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of musick shall be brought low;

και αι θυραι θελουσι κλεισθη εν τη οδω, οτε θελει ασθενησει η φωνη της αλεθουσης, και ο ανθρωπος θελει εξεγειρεσθαι εις την φωνην του στρουθιου, και πασαι αι θυγατερες του ασματος ατονισωσιν

Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets:

οτε θελουσι φοβεισθαι το υψος και θελουσι τρεμει εν τη οδω οτε η αμυγδαλεα θελει ανθησει και η ακρις θελει προξενει βαρος και η ορεξις θελει εκλειψει διοτι ο ανθρωπος υπαγει εις τον αιωνιον οικον αυτου και οι πενθουντες περικυκλουσι τας οδους

Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern.

πριν λυθη η αργυρα αλυσος και σπαση ο λυχνος ο χρυσους η συντριφθη η υδρια εν τη πηγη η χαλαση ο τροχος εν τω φρεατι,

Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

και επιστρεψη το χωμα εις την γην, καθως ητο, και το πνευμα επιστρεψη εις τον Θεον, οστις εδωκεν αυτο.

Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity.

Ματαιοτης ματαιοτητων, ειπεν ο Εκκλησιαστης τα παντα ματαιοτης.

And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.

Και οσον περισσοτερον ο Εκκλησιαστης εσταθη σοφος, τοσον περισσοτερον εδιδαξε την γνωσιν εις τον λαον μαλιστα επροσεξε και ηρευνησε και εβαλεν εις ταξιν πολλας παροιμιας.

The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.

Ο Εκκλησιαστης εζητησε να ευρη λογους ευαρεστους και το γεγραμμενον ητο ευθυτης και λογοι αληθειας.

The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.

Οι λογοι των σοφων ειναι ως βουκεντρα και ως καρφια εμπεπηγμενα υπο των διδασκαλων των συναθροισαντων αυτους εδοθησαν δε παρα του αυτου ποιμενος.

And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.

Περιπλεον δε τουτων, μαθε, υιε μου, οτι το να καμνη τις πολλα βιβλια δεν εχει τελος, και η πολλη μελετη ειναι μοχθος εις την σαρκα.

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Ας ακουσωμεν το τελος της ολης υποθεσεως φοβου τον Θεον και φυλαττε τας εντολας αυτου, επειδη τουτο ειναι το παν του ανθρωπου.

For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Διοτι ο Θεος θελει φερει εις κρισιν παν εργον και παν κρυπτον, ειτε αγαθον ειτε πονηρον.
