Amos 8

Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and behold a basket of summer fruit.

Ουτως εδειξεν εις εμε Κυριος ο Θεος και ιδου, κανιστρον καρπου θερινου.

And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more.

Και ειπε, Τι βλεπεις συ, Αμως; Και ειπα, Κανιστρον καρπου θερινου. Τοτε ειπε Κυριος προς εμε, Ηλθε το τελος επι τον λαον μου Ισραηλ δεν θελω πλεον παρατρεξει αυτον του λοιπου.

And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord GOD: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them forth with silence.

Και τα ασματα του ναου θελουσιν εισθαι ολολυγμοι εν τη ημερα εκεινη, λεγει Κυριος ο Θεος πολλα πτωματα θελουσιν εισθαι εν παντι τοπω θελουσιν εκριψει αυτα εν σιωπη.

Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail,

Ακουσατε τουτο, οι �οφουντες τους πενητας και οι αφανιζοντες τους πτωχους του τοπου,

Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?

λεγοντες, Ποτε θελει παρελθει ο μην, δια να πωλησωμεν γεννηματα; και το σαββατον, δια να ανοιξωμεν σιτον, σμικρυνοντες το εφα και μεγαλυνοντες τον σικλον και νοθευοντες τα ζυγια της απατης;

That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat?

δια να αγορασωμεν τους πτωχους με αργυριον και τον πενητα δια ζευγος υποδηματων, και να πωλησωμεν τα σκυβαλα του σιτου;

The LORD hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works.

Ο Κυριος ωμοσεν εις την δοξαν του Ιακωβ, λεγων, Βεβαιως δεν θελω λησμονησει ποτε ουδεν εκ των εργων αυτων.

Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.

Η γη δεν θελει ταραχθη δια τουτο και πενθησει πας ο κατοικων εν αυτη; και δεν θελει υπερεκχειλισει ολη ως ποταμος και δεν θελει απορριφθη και καταποντισθη ως υπο του ποταμου της Αιγυπτου;

And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day:

Και εν τη ημερα εκεινη, λεγει Κυριος ο Θεος, θελω καμει τον ηλιον να δυση εν καιρω μεσημβριας και θελω συσκοτασει την γην εν φωτεινη ημερα.

And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.

Και θελω μεταστρεψει τας εορτας σας εις πενθος και παντα τα ασματα σας εις θρηνον, και θελω αναβιβασει σακκον επι πασαν οσφυν και φαλακρωμα επι πασαν κεφαλην, και θελω καταστησει αυτον ως τον πενθουντα υιον μονογενη και το τελος αυτου θελει εισθαι ως ημερα πικριας.

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:

Ιδου, ερχονται ημεραι, λεγει Κυριος ο Θεος, και θελω εξαποστειλει πειναν επι την γην ουχι πειναν αρτου ουδε διψαν υδατος, αλλ ακροασεως των λογων του Κυριου.

And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

Και θελουσι περιπλανασθαι απο θαλασσης εως θαλασσης, και απο βορρα εως ανατολης θελουσι περιτρεχει, ζητουντες τον λογον του Κυριου, και δεν θελουσιν ευρει.

In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.

Εν τη ημερα εκεινη θελουσι λιποθυμησει αι ωραιαι παρθενοι και οι νεανισκοι υπο διψης,

They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beer–sheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again.

οι ομνυοντες εις την αμαρτιαν της Σαμαρειας και οι λεγοντες, Ζη ο Θεος σου, Δαν, και, Ζη η οδος της Βηρσαβεε, και θελουσι πεσει και δεν θελουσι σηκωθη πλεον.
