II Chronicles 31

Now when all this was finished, all Israel that were present went out to the cities of Judah, and brake the images in pieces, and cut down the groves, and threw down the high places and the altars out of all Judah and Benjamin, in Ephraim also and Manasseh, until they had utterly destroyed them all. Then all the children of Israel returned, every man to his possession, into their own cities.

När nu allt detta var till ända, drogo alla israeliter som hade varit där tillstädes ut till Juda städer och slogo sönder stoderna, höggo ned Aserorna och bröto ned offerhöjderna och altarna i hela Juda och Benjamin och i Efraim och Manasse, till dess att de hade gjort ände på dem; sedan vände alla Israels barn tillbaka till sina städer, var och en till sin egendom.2 Kon. 18,4. 2 Krön. 32,12.

And Hezekiah appointed the courses of the priests and the Levites after their courses, every man according to his service, the priests and Levites for burnt offerings and for peace offerings, to minister, and to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the tents of the LORD.

Och Hiskia förordnade om prästernas och leviternas avdelningar, alltefter som de tillhörde den ena eller den andra avdelningen, så att var och en av såväl prästerna som leviterna fick sitt bestämda göromål, när brännoffer och tackoffer skulle offras, till att därvid göra tjänst och tacka och lovsjunga i portarna till HERRENS läger.3 Mos. 8,35. 4 Mos. 4,3 f.

He appointed also the king's portion of his substance for the burnt offerings, to wit, for the morning and evening burnt offerings, and the burnt offerings for the sabbaths, and for the new moons, and for the set feasts, as it is written in the law of the LORD.

Och konungen anslog en del av sin egendom till brännoffren, nämligen till att offra brännoffer morgon och afton, och till att offra brännoffer på sabbaterna, vid nymånaderna och vid högtiderna, såsom det var föreskrivet i HERRENS lag.4 Mos. 28,1 f.

Moreover he commanded the people that dwelt in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and the Levites, that they might be encouraged in the law of the LORD.

Och han befallde folket som bodde i Jerusalem att giva prästerna och leviterna deras del, för att de skulle kunna hålla fast vid HERRENS lag.4 Mos. 18,8 f. Neh. 13,10 f.

And as soon as the commandment came abroad, the children of Israel brought in abundance the firstfruits of corn, wine, and oil, and honey, and of all the increase of the field; and the tithe of all things brought they in abundantly.

Och när denna befallning blev känd, gåvo Israels barn rikligen en förstling av säd, vin, olja och honung och av all markens avkastning; och tionde av allt förde de fram i myckenhet.2 Mos. 23,19. 5 Mos. 14,22.

And concerning the children of Israel and Judah, that dwelt in the cities of Judah, they also brought in the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the tithe of holy things which were consecrated unto the LORD their God, and laid them by heaps.

Och de av Israels och Juda barn, som bodde i Juda städer, förde ock fram tionde av fäkreatur och små boskap, så ock tionde av de heliga gåvor som helgades åt HERRENS, deras Gud, och lade upp dem i särskilda högar.

In the third month they began to lay the foundation of the heaps, and finished them in the seventh month.

I tredje månaden begynte de att lägga upp högarna, och i sjunde månaden hade de slutat därmed.

And when Hezekiah and the princes came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD, and his people Israel.

När då Hiskia och de överste kommo och sågo högarna, prisade de HERREN och hans folk Israel.

Then Hezekiah questioned with the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps.

Och Hiskia frågade prästerna och leviterna om högarna.

And Azariah the chief priest of the house of Zadok answered him, and said, Since the people began to bring the offerings into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat, and have left plenty: for the LORD hath blessed his people; and that which is left is this great store.

Då svarade honom översteprästen Asarja, av Sadoks hus, och sade; »Alltsedan man begynte föra fram offergärden till HERRENS hus, hava vi ätit och blivit mätta och dock fått mycket kvar; ty HERREN har välsignat sitt folk, och vad som är kvar är denna stora rikedom.»

Then Hezekiah commanded to prepare chambers in the house of the LORD; and they prepared them,

Och Hiskia befallde att man skulle inreda förrådskamrar i HERRENS hus, och man inredde sådana.

And brought in the offerings and the tithes and the dedicated things faithfully: over which Cononiah the Levite was ruler, and Shimei his brother was the next.

Och i dem förde man in offergärden och tionden och de heliga gåvorna, allt på heder och tro. Och överuppsyningsman däröver var leviten Konanja, och hans närmaste man var hans broder Simei.

And Jehiel, and Azaziah, and Nahath, and Asahel, and Jerimoth, and Jozabad, and Eliel, and Ismachiah, and Mahath, and Benaiah, were overseers under the hand of Cononiah and Shimei his brother, at the commandment of Hezekiah the king, and Azariah the ruler of the house of God.

Men Jehiel, Asasja, Nahat, Asael, Jerimot, Josabad, Eliel, Jismakja, Mahat och Benaja voro tillsyningsmän under Konanja och hans broder Simei, efter förordnande av konung Hiskia och Asarja, fursten i Guds hus.

And Kore the son of Imnah the Levite, the porter toward the east, was over the freewill offerings of God, to distribute the oblations of the LORD, and the most holy things.

Och leviten Kore, Jimnas son, som var dörrvaktare på östra sidan, hade uppsikten över de frivilliga gåvorna åt Gud och skulle fördela HERRENS offergärd och det högheliga av offren.

And next him were Eden, and Miniamin, and Jeshua, and Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah, in the cities of the priests, in their set office, to give to their brethren by courses, as well to the great as to the small:

Och under honom sattes Eden, Minjamin, Jesua, Semaja, Amarja och Sekanja till förtroendemän i präststäderna för att ombesörja utdelningen åt sina bröder, efter deras avdelningar, åt den minste såväl som åt den störste.5 Mos. 18,8. Jos. 21,9 f.

Beside their genealogy of males, from three years old and upward, even unto every one that entereth into the house of the LORD, his daily portion for their service in their charges according to their courses;

Härifrån voro undantagna alla sådana i sina släktregister upptecknade personer av mankön, från tre års ålder och därutöver, som skulle infinna sig i HERRENS hus, där var dag de för den dagen bestämda sysslorna skulle utföras genom dem som hade tjänstgöringen, med de särskilda åligganden de hade efter sina avdelningar.

Both to the genealogy of the priests by the house of their fathers, and the Levites from twenty years old and upward, in their charges by their courses;

Och vad angick prästernas släktregister, så var det uppgjort efter deras familjer; och av leviterna voro de upptagna, som voro tjugu år gamla eller därutöver, efter sina särskilda åligganden, alltefter sina avdelningar.1 Krön. 23,27 f.

And to the genealogy of all their little ones, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, through all the congregation: for in their set office they sanctified themselves in holiness:

Och i släktregistret skulle de vara upptecknade jämte alla sina späda barn, hustrur, söner och döttrar, så många de voro. Ty på heder och tro skulle de förvalta det heliga såsom heligt.

Also of the sons of Aaron the priests, which were in the fields of the suburbs of their cities, in every several city, the men that were expressed by name, to give portions to all the males among the priests, and to all that were reckoned by genealogies among the Levites.

Och för dem av Arons söner, prästerna, som bodde på sina städers utmarker, voro i var särskild stad namngivna män tillsatta, som åt allt mankön bland prästerna och åt alla de leviter som voro upptecknade i släktregistret skulle utdela vad dem tillkom.

And thus did Hezekiah throughout all Judah, and wrought that which was good and right and truth before the LORD his God.

Så förfor Hiskia i hela Juda, och han gjorde inför HERREN, sin Gud, vad gott och rätt och sant var.

And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.

Och allt som han företog sig, när han nu sökte sin Gud, allt, vare sig det angick tjänstgöringen i Guds hus eller det angick lagen och budorden, det gjorde han av allt sitt hjärta, och det lyckades honom väl.
