II Chronicles 30

And Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, to keep the passover unto the LORD God of Israel.

Så sendte Esekias bud omkring til hele Israel og Juda og skrev også brev til Efra'im og Manasse at de skulde komme til Herrens hus i Jerusalem og holde påske for Herren, Israels Gud.

For the king had taken counsel, and his princes, and all the congregation in Jerusalem, to keep the passover in the second month.

Og kongen og hans høvdinger og hele menigheten i Jerusalem holdt råd om å holde påske i den annen måned;

For they could not keep it at that time, because the priests had not sanctified themselves sufficiently, neither had the people gathered themselves together to Jerusalem.

for de kunde ikke holde den med det samme, fordi det ennu ikke var prester nok som hadde helliget sig, og folket ikke var samlet i Jerusalem.

And the thing pleased the king and all the congregation.

Det syntes kongen og hele menigheten var rett.

So they established a decree to make proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beer–sheba even to Dan, that they should come to keep the passover unto the LORD God of Israel at Jerusalem: for they had not done it of a long time in such sort as it was written.

De vedtok derfor å la utrope i hele Israel, fra Be'erseba like til Dan, at folk skulde komme og holde påske for Herren, Israels Gud, i Jerusalem; for de hadde ikke holdt den i samlet mengde, således som foreskrevet er.

So the posts went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, Ye children of Israel, turn again unto the LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and he will return to the remnant of you, that are escaped out of the hand of the kings of Assyria.

Så tok da ilbudene avsted med brevene fra kongen og hans høvdinger og drog omkring i hele Israel og Juda, således som kongen hadde befalt, og sa: I Israels barn! Vend om til Herren, Abrahams, Isaks og Israels Gud, så han kan vende sig til den levning av eder som har sloppet unda assyrerkongenes hånd;

And be not ye like your fathers, and like your brethren, which trespassed against the LORD God of their fathers, who therefore gave them up to desolation, as ye see.

vær ikke som eders fedre og eders brødre, som bar sig troløst at mot Herren, sine fedres Gud, så han overgav dem til ødeleggelse, således som I selv ser.

Now be ye not stiffnecked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves unto the LORD, and enter into his sanctuary, which he hath sanctified for ever: and serve the LORD your God, that the fierceness of his wrath may turn away from you.

Vær nu ikke hårdnakkede som eders fedre! Gi Herren hånden og kom til hans helligdom, som han har helliget for alle tider, og tjen Herren eders Gud, så hans brennende vrede må vende sig bort fra eder.

For if ye turn again unto the LORD, your brethren and your children shall find compassion before them that lead them captive, so that they shall come again into this land: for the LORD your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him.

For når I vender om til Herren, da skal eders brødre og eders sønner finne barmhjertighet hos dem som holder dem fangne, og komme tilbake til dette land; for Herren eders Gud er nådig og barmhjertig; han vil ikke vende sitt åsyn bort fra eder, dersom I vender om til ham.

So the posts passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh even unto Zebulun: but they laughed them to scorn, and mocked them.

Ilbudene drog omkring fra by til by i Efra'ims og Manasses land og like til Sebulon; men folk bare lo av dem og spottet dem.

Nevertheless divers of Asher and Manasseh and of Zebulun humbled themselves, and came to Jerusalem.

Det var bare nogen få i Aser og Manasse og Sebulon som ydmyket sig og kom til Jerusalem.

Also in Judah the hand of God was to give them one heart to do the commandment of the king and of the princes, by the word of the LORD.

Også i Juda rådet Guds hånd, så han gav dem et samdrektig sinn til å gjøre det som kongen og høvdingene hadde befalt efter Herrens ord.

And there assembled at Jerusalem much people to keep the feast of unleavened bread in the second month, a very great congregation.

Således samlet det sig en mengde folk i Jerusalem for å holde de usyrede brøds høitid i den annen måned - det blev en meget stor forsamling.

And they arose and took away the altars that were in Jerusalem, and all the altars for incense took they away, and cast them into the brook Kidron.

Først fikk de bort de alter som fantes i Jerusalem; også alle røkelsekarene tok de bort og kastet dem i Kidron-bekken.

Then they killed the passover on the fourteenth day of the second month: and the priests and the Levites were ashamed, and sanctified themselves, and brought in the burnt offerings into the house of the LORD.

Så slaktet de påskelammet på den fjortende dag i den annen måned, og prestene og levittene blev skamfulle og helliget sig og førte frem brennoffere til Herrens hus;

And they stood in their place after their manner, according to the law of Moses the man of God: the priests sprinkled the blood, which they received of the hand of the Levites.

de stilte sig på sin plass, som det var dem foreskrevet, efter den Guds mann Moses' lov; og prestene sprengte blodet, som levittene rakte dem.

For there were many in the congregation that were not sanctified: therefore the Levites had the charge of the killing of the passovers for every one that was not clean, to sanctify them unto the LORD.

For det var mange i forsamlingen som ikke hadde helliget sig, og derfor utførte levittene slaktningen av påskelammene for alle dem som ikke var rene, så de kunde hellige dem for Herren.

For a multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim, and Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet did they eat the passover otherwise than it was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, The good LORD pardon every one

For en mengde av folket, mange fra Efra'im og Manasse, Issakar og Sebulon, hadde ikke renset sig, men åt påskelammet uten å iaktta det som var foreskrevet; men Esekias bad for dem og sa: Herren, som er god, vil tilgi

That prepareth his heart to seek God, the LORD God of his fathers, though he be not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary.

hver den som har vendt sig av alt sitt hjerte til å søke Gud Herren, sine fedres Gud, om han enn ikke er ren således som helligdommen krever det!

And the LORD hearkened to Hezekiah, and healed the people.

Og Herren bønnhørte Esekias og helbredet folket.

And the children of Israel that were present at Jerusalem kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness: and the Levites and the priests praised the LORD day by day, singing with loud instruments unto the LORD.

Således holdt de av Israels barn som var til stede i Jerusalem, de usyrede brøds høitid i syv dager med stor glede; og prestene og levittene lovet Herren dag for dag med instrumenter som priste Herrens makt.

And Hezekiah spake comfortably unto all the Levites that taught the good knowledge of the LORD: and they did eat throughout the feast seven days, offering peace offerings, and making confession to the LORD God of their fathers.

Og Esekias talte vennlig til alle de levitter som hadde vist sig særlig dyktige i Herrens tjeneste; og de åt høitidsofferet i syv dager og ofret takkoffere og lovet Herren, sine fedres Gud.

And the whole assembly took counsel to keep other seven days: and they kept other seven days with gladness.

Og hele menigheten kom overens om å holde høitid ennu syv dager; og så holdt de høitid med glede i syv dager til.

For Hezekiah king of Judah did give to the congregation a thousand bullocks and seven thousand sheep; and the princes gave to the congregation a thousand bullocks and ten thousand sheep: and a great number of priests sanctified themselves.

For Esekias, Judas konge, gav menigheten tusen okser og syv tusen stykker småfe, og høvdingene gav menigheten tusen okser og ti tusen stykker småfe; og mange prester helliget sig.

And all the congregation of Judah, with the priests and the Levites, and all the congregation that came out of Israel, and the strangers that came out of the land of Israel, and that dwelt in Judah, rejoiced.

Og hele Judas menighet gledet sig, og prestene og levittene og alle de som var kommet sammen fra Israel, og de fremmede som var kommet fra Israels land eller bodde i Juda.

So there was great joy in Jerusalem: for since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel there was not the like in Jerusalem.

Det var stor glede i Jerusalem; for siden Israels konge Salomos, Davids sønns dager hadde det ikke hendt noget sådant i Jerusalem.

Then the priests the Levites arose and blessed the people: and their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to his holy dwelling place, even unto heaven.

Og de levittiske prester stod op og velsignet folket, og deres røst blev hørt, og deres bønn nådde til himmelen, hans hellige bolig.
