Joshua 16

And the lot of the children of Joseph fell from Jordan by Jericho, unto the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goeth up from Jericho throughout mount Beth–el,

यह वह प्रदेश है जिसे यूसुफ के परिवार ने पाया। यह प्रदेश यरदन नदी के निकट यरीहो से आरम्भ हुआ और यरीहो के पूर्वी जलाशयों तक पहुँचा। (यह ठीक यरीहो के पूर्व था) सीमा यरीहो से बेतेल के मरू पहाड़ी प्रदेश तक चली गई थी।

And goeth out from Beth–el to Luz, and passeth along unto the borders of Archi to Ataroth,

सीमा लगातार बेतेल (लूज) से लेकर अतारोत पर एरेकी सीमा तक चली गई थी।

And goeth down westward to the coast of Japhleti, unto the coast of Beth–horon the nether, and to Gezer: and the goings out thereof are at the sea.

तब सीमा पश्चिम में यपलेतियों लोगों की सीमा तक चली गई थी। यह सीमा लगातार निचले बेथोरोन तक चली गई थी। यह सीमा गेजेर तक गई और समुद्र तक चलती चली गई।

So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.

इस प्रकार मनश्शे और एप्रैम ने अपना प्रदेश पाया। (मनश्शे और एप्रैम यूसुफ के पुत्र थे।)

And the border of the children of Ephraim according to their families was thus: even the border of their inheritance on the east side was Ataroth–addar, unto Beth–horon the upper;

यह वह प्रदेश है जिसे एप्रैम के लोगों को दिया गयाः उनकी पूर्वी सीमा ऊपरी बेथोरोन के निकट अत्रोतदार पर आरम्भ हुई थी।

And the border went out toward the sea to Michmethah on the north side; and the border went about eastward unto Taanath–shiloh, and passed by it on the east to Janohah;

और यह सीमा वहाँ से सागर तक जाती थी। सीमा पूर्व की ओर मिकमतात उनके उत्तर में था, तानतशीलो को मुड़ी और लगातार यानोह तक चली गई थी।

And it went down from Janohah to Ataroth, and to Naarath, and came to Jericho, and went out at Jordan.

तब सीमा यानोह से अतारोत और नारा तक चली गई। यह सीमा लगातार चलती हुई यरीहो छूती है और यरदन नदी पर समाप्त हो जाती है। यह सीमा तप्पूह से काना खाड़ी के पश्चिम की ओर जाती है और सागर पर समाप्त हो जाती है।

The border went out from Tappuah westward unto the river Kanah; and the goings out thereof were at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families.

यह सीमा तप्पूह से काना नदी के पश्चिम की ओर सागर पर समाप्त होती है। यह वह प्रदेश है जो एप्रैम के लोगों को दिया गया। उस परिवार समूह के हर एक परिवार ने इस भूमि का भाग पाया।

And the separate cities for the children of Ephraim were among the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages.

एप्रैम के बहुत से सीमा के नगर वस्तुत: मनश्शे की सीमा में थे किन्तु एप्रैम के लोगों ने उन नगरों और अपने खेतों को प्राप्त किया।

And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.

किन्तु एप्रैमी लोग कनानी लोगों को गेजेर नगर छोड़ने को विवश करने में समर्थ न हो सके। इसलिए कनानी लोग अब तक एप्रैमी लोगों के बीच रहते हैं। किन्तु कनानी लोग एप्रैमी लोगों के दास हो गए थे।
