Amos 1

1:1

The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.

आमोस का सन्देश। आमोस तकोई नगर का गड़ेरिया था। यहूदा पर राजा उज्जिय्याह के शासन काल और इस्राएल पर योआश के पुत्र राजा यारोबाम के शासन काल में आमोस को इस्राएल के बारे में (अन्त) दर्शन हुआ। यह भूकम्प के दो वर्ष पूर्व हुआ।

And he said, The LORD will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.

आमोस ने कहा: “यहोवा सिय्योन में सिंह की तरह दहाड़ेगा। यहोवा की दहाड़ यरूशलेम से होगी। गड़ेरियों के हरे मैदान सूख जायेंगे। यहाँ तक कि कर्म्मेल पर्वत भी सूखेगा।”

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:

यह सब यहोवा कहता है: “मैं दमिश्क के लोगों को उनके द्वारा किये गये अनेक अपराधों का दण्ड अवश्य दूँगा। क्यों क्योकि उन्होंने गिलाद को, अन्न को भूसे से अलग करने वाले लोहे के औजारों से पीटा।

But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Ben–hadad.

अत: मैं हजाएल के घर (सिरिया) में आग लगाऊँगा, और वह आग बेन्हदद के ऊँचे किलों को नष्ट केरेगी।”

I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.

“मैं दमिश्क क द्वार की मजबूत छड़ों को भी तोड़ दूँगा। आवेन की घाटी में सिंहासन पर बैठाने वाले व्यक्ति को भी मैं नष्ट करुँगा। एदेन में राजदण्ड धारण करने वाले राजा को भी मैं नष्ट करुँगा। अराम के लोग पराजित होंगे। लोग उन्हें बन्दी बनाकर कीर देश में ले जाएंगे।” यहोवा ने वह सब कहा।

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:

यहोवा यह कहता है: “मैं निश्चय ही अज्जा के लोगों द्वारा किये गये अनेक पापों के लिये उन्हें दण्ड दूँगा। क्यों क्योंकि उन्होंने लोगों के एक पूरे राष्ट्र को पकड़ा और दास के रूप में एदोम को भेजा था।

But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof:

इसलिये मैं अज्जा नगर की दीवार पर आग लगाऊँगा। यह आग अज्जा के महत्वपूर्ण किलों को नष्ट करेगी।

1:8

And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord GOD.

मैं अशदोद में राजसिंहासन पर बैठने वाले व्यक्ति को नष्ट करूँगा। मैं अश्कलोन में राजदण्ड धारण करने वाले राजा को नष्ट करूँगा। मैं एक्रोन के लोगों को दण्ड दूँगा। तब अभी तक जीवित बचे पलिश्ती मरेंगे।” परमेश्वर यहोवा ने यह सब कहा।

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant:

यहोवा यह सब कहता है: “मैं निश्चय ही सोर के लोगों को उनके द्वारा किये गए अनेक अपराधों के लिए दण्ड दूँगा। क्यों क्योंकि उन्होंने लोगों के एक पूरे राष्ट्र को पकड़ा और एदोम को दास के रूप में भेजा था। उन्होंने उस वाचा को याद नहीं रखा जिसे उन्होंने अपने भाईयों (इस्राएल) के साथ किया था
