Zechariah 7

And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in Chisleu;

Und es begab sich im vierten Jahre des Königs Darius, da geschah das Wort Jehovas zu Sacharja, am vierten Tage des neunten Monats, im Monat Kislev,

When they had sent unto the house of God Sherezer and Regem–melech, and their men, to pray before the LORD,

als Bethel den Scharezer und Regem-Melech und seine Männer sandte, um Jehova anzuflehen,

And to speak unto the priests which were in the house of the LORD of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?

und um den Priestern des Hauses Jehovas der Heerscharen und den Propheten zu sagen: Soll ich weinen im fünften Monat und mich enthalten wie ich schon so viele Jahre getan habe?

Then came the word of the LORD of hosts unto me, saying,

Und das Wort Jehovas der Heerscharen geschah zu mir also:

Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me?

Rede zu dem ganzen Volke des Landes und zu den Priestern und sprich: Wenn ihr im fünften und im siebten Monat gefastet und gewehklagt habt, und zwar schon siebzig Jahre, habt ihr irgendwie mir gefastet?

And when ye did eat, and when ye did drink, did not ye eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?

Und wenn ihr esset, und wenn ihr trinket, seid nicht ihr die Essenden und ihr die Trinkenden?

Should ye not hear the words which the LORD hath cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, when men inhabited the south and the plain?

Kennet ihr nicht die Worte, welche Jehova durch die früheren Propheten ausrief, als Jerusalem bewohnt und ruhig war, und seine Städte rings um dasselbe her, und der Süden und die Niederung bewohnt waren?

And the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah, saying,

Und das Wort Jehovas geschah zu Sacharja also:

Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother:

So spricht Jehova der Heerscharen und sagt: Übet ein wahrhaftiges Gericht und erweiset Güte und Barmherzigkeit einer dem anderen;

And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.

und bedrücket nicht die Witwe und die Waise, den Fremdling und den Elenden; und sinnet keiner auf seines Bruders Unglück in euren Herzen.

But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear.

Aber sie weigerten sich, aufzumerken, und zogen die Schulter widerspenstig zurück und machten ihre Ohren schwer, um nicht zu hören.

Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts.

Und sie machten ihr Herz zu Diamant, um das Gesetz nicht zu hören, noch die Worte, welche Jehova der Heerscharen durch seinen Geist sandte mittelst der früheren Propheten; und so kam ein großer Zorn von seiten Jehovas der Heerscharen.

Therefore it is come to pass, that as he cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts:

Und es geschah, gleichwie er gerufen, und sie nicht gehört hatten, also riefen sie, und ich hörte nicht, spricht Jehova der Heerscharen;

But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not. Thus the land was desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate.

und ich stürmte sie hinweg unter alle Nationen die sie nicht kannten, und das Land wurde hinter ihnen verwüstet, so daß niemand hin und wieder zieht; und sie machten das köstliche Land zu einer Wüste.
