I Samuel 24

And it came to pass, when Saul was returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying, Behold, David is in the wilderness of En–gedi.

Und David zog von dannen hinauf und blieb auf den Bergfesten von Engedi.

Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men upon the rocks of the wild goats.

Und es geschah, als Saul von der Verfolgung der Philister zurückgekehrt war, da berichtete man ihm und sprach: Siehe, David ist in der Wüste Engedi.

And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave.

Und Saul nahm dreitausend auserlesene Männer aus ganz Israel und zog hin, um David und seine Männer auf den Steinbockfelsen zu suchen.

And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the LORD said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe privily.

Und er kam zu den Kleinviehhürden am Wege, wo eine Höhle war, und Saul ging hinein, um seine Füße zu bedecken; David aber und seine Männer saßen am hinteren Ende der Höhle.

And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt.

Da sprachen die Männer Davids zu ihm: Siehe, das ist der Tag, von welchem Jehova zu dir gesagt hat: Siehe, ich werde deinen Feind in deine Hand geben, und tue ihm, wie es gut ist in deinen Augen. Und David stand auf und schnitt heimlich einen Zipfel von dem Oberkleide Sauls ab.

And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORD'S anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD.

Aber es geschah hernach, da schlug dem David sein Herz, darum daß er den Zipfel von dem Oberkleide Sauls abgeschnitten hatte;

So David stayed his servants with these words, and suffered them not to rise against Saul. But Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.

und er sprach zu seinen Männern: Jehova lasse es fern von mir sein, daß ich so etwas an meinem Herrn, dem Gesalbten Jehovas, tun sollte, meine Hand gegen ihn auszustrecken! Denn er ist der Gesalbte Jehovas.

David also arose afterward, and went out of the cave, and cried after Saul, saying, My lord the king. And when Saul looked behind him, David stooped with his face to the earth, and bowed himself.

Und David wehrte seinen Männern mit diesen Worten und ließ ihnen nicht zu, sich wider Saul zu erheben. Und Saul stand auf aus der Höhle und zog seines Weges.

And David said to Saul, Wherefore hearest thou men's words, saying, Behold, David seeketh thy hurt?

Und nachher machte David sich auf, und er ging aus der Höhle hinaus und rief hinter Saul her und sprach: Mein Herr König! Und Saul blickte hinter sich, und David neigte sein Antlitz zur Erde und beugte sich nieder.

Behold, this day thine eyes have seen how that the LORD had delivered thee to day into mine hand in the cave: and some bade me kill thee: but mine eye spared thee; and I said, I will not put forth mine hand against my lord; for he is the LORD'S anointed.

Und David sprach zu Saul: Warum hörst du auf die Worte der Menschen, welche sagen: Siehe, David sucht dein Unglück?

Moreover, my father, see, yea, see the skirt of thy robe in my hand: for in that I cut off the skirt of thy robe, and killed thee not, know thou and see that there is neither evil nor transgression in mine hand, and I have not sinned against thee; yet thou huntest my soul to take it.

Siehe, an diesem Tage haben deine Augen gesehen, daß Jehova dich heute in meine Hand gegeben hat in der Höhle. Und man sagte mir, ich solle dich töten; aber mein Auge schonte deiner, und ich sprach: Ich will meine Hand nicht wider meinen Herrn ausstrecken, denn er ist der Gesalbte Jehovas!

The LORD judge between me and thee, and the LORD avenge me of thee: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.

Und sieh, mein Vater, ja, sieh den Zipfel deines Oberkleides in meiner Hand! Denn daß ich einen Zipfel deines Oberkleides abgeschnitten und dich nicht getötet habe, daran erkenne und sieh, daß nichts Böses in meiner Hand ist, noch ein Vergehen, und daß ich nicht an dir gesündigt habe; du aber stellst meinem Leben nach, um es zu nehmen.

As saith the proverb of the ancients, Wickedness proceedeth from the wicked: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.

Jehova richte zwischen mir und dir, und Jehova räche mich an dir; aber meine Hand soll nicht wider dich sein.

After whom is the king of Israel come out? after whom dost thou pursue? after a dead dog, after a flea.

Wie der Spruch der Vorväter sagt: Von den Gesetzlosen kommt Gesetzlosigkeit; aber meine Hand soll nicht wider dich sein.

The LORD therefore be judge, and judge between me and thee, and see, and plead my cause, and deliver me out of thine hand.

Hinter wem zieht der König von Israel her? wem jagst du nach? Einem toten Hunde, einem Floh!

And it came to pass, when David had made an end of speaking these words unto Saul, that Saul said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And Saul lifted up his voice, and wept.

So sei denn Jehova Richter, und richte zwischen mir und dir; und er sehe darein und führe meine Streitsache und verschaffe mir Recht aus deiner Hand!

And he said to David, Thou art more righteous than I: for thou hast rewarded me good, whereas I have rewarded thee evil.

Und es geschah, als David diese Worte zu Saul ausgeredet hatte, da sprach Saul: Ist das deine Stimme, mein Sohn David? Und Saul erhob seine Stimme und weinte.

And thou hast shewed this day how that thou hast dealt well with me: forasmuch as when the LORD had delivered me into thine hand, thou killedst me not.

Und er sprach zu David: Du bist gerechter als ich. Denn du hast mir Gutes erzeigt, ich aber habe dir Böses erzeigt;

For if a man find his enemy, will he let him go well away? wherefore the LORD reward thee good for that thou hast done unto me this day.

und du hast heute bewiesen, daß du Gutes an mir getan hast, da Jehova mich in deine Hand geliefert, und du mich nicht getötet hast.

And now, behold, I know well that thou shalt surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in thine hand.

Denn wenn jemand seinen Feind findet, wird er ihn auf gutem Wege ziehen lassen? So möge Jehova dir Gutes vergelten für das, was du an diesem Tage an mir getan hast!

Swear now therefore unto me by the LORD, that thou wilt not cut off my seed after me, and that thou wilt not destroy my name out of my father's house.

Und nun siehe, ich weiß, daß du gewißlich König werden wirst, und daß in deiner Hand das Königtum Israels bestehen wird;

And David sware unto Saul. And Saul went home; but David and his men gat them up unto the hold.

so schwöre mir nun bei Jehova, daß du meinen Samen nach mir nicht ausrotten und meinen Namen nicht vertilgen willst aus dem Hause meines Vaters! Und David schwur Saul. Und Saul ging nach seinem Hause; David und seine Männer aber stiegen auf die Bergfeste.
