II Kings 13

در بیست و سومین سال سلطنت یوآش پسر اخزیا پادشاه یهودا، یهوآخاز پسر ییهو در سامره پادشاه اسرائیل شد و هفده سال سلطنت کرد.

In the three and twentieth year of Joash the son of Ahaziah king of Judah Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned seventeen years.

او آنچه را در نظر خداوند زشت بود، انجام داد و از گناهان یربعام پسر نباط که اسرائیل را به گناه کشید، دوری نکرد.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom.

خشم خداوند علیه اسرائیل برافروخته شد؛ بنابراین اجازه داد که حزائیل، پادشاه سوریه و بنهدد مرتباً به آنها حمله کنند.

And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Ben–hadad the son of Hazael, all their days.

آنگاه یهوآخاز نزد خداوند دعا کرد و خداوند دید که پادشاه سوریه چگونه با خشونت به اسرائیلی‌ها ستم می‌کند، پس دعای او را مستجاب کرد.

And Jehoahaz besought the LORD, and the LORD hearkened unto him: for he saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them.

خداوند رهبری برای اسرائیل فرستاد تا آنها را از دست سوری‌ها آزاد کند، پس اسرائیلی‌ها مانند گذشته در صلح زندگی کردند.

(And the LORD gave Israel a saviour, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents, as beforetime.

امّا هنوز از گناهانی که یربعام پادشاه اسرائیل را به آن کشانده بود، دست برنداشتند و به انجام آنها ادامه دادند و الههٔ اشره در سامره ماند.

Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who made Israel sin, but walked therein: and there remained the grove also in Samaria.)

از ارتش یهوآخاز فقط پنجاه سوار، ده ارّابه و ده هزار پیاده باقی مانده بود، زیرا پادشاه سوریه بقیّه را نابود و ایشان را مانند غبار، پایمال کرده بود.

Neither did he leave of the people to Jehoahaz but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust by threshing.

بقیّهٔ کارهای یهوآخاز و هرچه کرد و شجاعت او در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان اسرائیل نوشته شده است.

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

یهوآخاز درگذشت و او را در سامره به خاک سپردند و پسرش، یهوآش جانشین او شد.

And Jehoahaz slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria: and Joash his son reigned in his stead.

در سی و هفتمین سال سلطنت یوآش پادشاه یهودا، یهوآش پسر یهوآخاز در سامره پادشاه اسرائیل شد و مدّت شانزده سال سلطنت کرد.

In the thirty and seventh year of Joash king of Judah began Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned sixteen years.

او هم با کارهای زشت خود، خداوند را ناراضی ساخت و به همان راه گناه‌آلودی که یربعام، پسر نباط مردم اسرائیل را بُرد، گام نهاد و از آن راه بازنگشت.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel sin: but he walked therein.

بقیّهٔ کارهای یهوآش و هرچه کرد و شجاعت او که چگونه با امصیا، پادشاه یهودا جنگ کرد، در کتاب تاریخ پادشاهان اسرائیل نوشته شده‌اند.

And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his might wherewith he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

یهوآش درگذشت و در گورستان سلطنتی در سامره به خاک سپرده شد و پسرش یربعام دوم جانشین او شد.

And Joash slept with his fathers; and Jeroboam sat upon his throne: and Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.

هنگامی‌که الیشع نبی به بیماری کشنده‌‌ای مبتلا شد و در بستر مرگ افتاد، یهوآش پادشاه اسرائیل به عیادت او رفت و درحالی‌که گریه می‌کرد گفت: «ای پدرم، ای پدرم، ای ارّابه و ای سوار اسرائیل.»

Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.

الیشع به او گفت: «تیرها و کمانی بردار.» پس او تیرها و کمان برداشت

And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows.

و به او گفت: «آمادهٔ تیراندازی باش.» پادشاه چنین کرد و الیشع دستهای خود را روی دستهای پادشاه نهاد.

And he said to the king of Israel, Put thine hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king's hands.

سپس الیشع به پادشاه گفت: «پنجره را به سوی سوریه بازکن.» الیشع دستور تیراندازی داد. بی‌درنگ پس از آن که پادشاه پیکان را پرتاب کرد، نبی به او گفت: «تو پیکان خداوند هستی که به وسیلهٔ آن بر سوریه پیروز خواهد شد. تو با سوری‌ها در افیق نبرد خواهی کرد تا آنها شکست بخورند.»

And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD'S deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them.

الیشع گفت: «پیکانها را بردار و به زمین ضربه بزن.» پادشاه به زمین سه بار ضربه زد و ایستاد.

And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed.

آنگاه مرد خدا از او خشمگین شد و به او گفت: «تو باید پنج یا شش مرتبه به زمین ضربه می‌زدی. آنگاه می‌توانستی پیروزی کامل بر سوریه داشته باشی، امّا حالا آنها را فقط سه بار او را شکست خواهی داد.»

And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.

الیشع درگذشت و او را به‌ خاک سپردند. در آن دوران هر سال در فصل بهار، عدّه‌ای از موآبیان به اسرائیل حمله می‌کردند.

And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.

یک‌بار زمانی که کسی را به خاک می‌سپردند، گروهی از مهاجمین دیده شدند. مردم جسد مرده را در قبر الیشع انداختند و گریختند. پس از اینکه جسد به استخوانهای الیشع خورد، آن مرد زنده شد و روی پای خود ایستاد.

And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.

در تمام طول سلطنت یهوآخاز، حزائیل پادشاه سوریه، اسرائیل را مورد ستم قرار می‌داد.

But Hazael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.

امّا خداوند به آنها محبّت نمود و رحم کرد و به سوی ایشان بازگشت؛ زیرا به‌خاطر پیمانی که با ابراهیم، اسحاق و یعقوب بسته بود، ایشان را نابود نکرد و تاکنون نیز آنها را از حضور خود دور نکرده است.

And the LORD was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet.

هنگامی‌که حزائیل، پادشاه سوریه درگذشت، پسرش بنهدد جانشین او شد.

So Hazael king of Syria died; and Ben–hadad his son reigned in his stead.

پس یهوآش پسر یهوآخاز شهرهایی را که حزائیل از دست پدرش یهوآخاز در جنگ گرفته بود، از دست بنهدد پسر حزائیل پس گرفت و سه بار وی را شکست داد.

And Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Ben–hadad the son of Hazael the cities, which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Three times did Joash beat him, and recovered the cities of Israel.
