I Samuel 16

И ГОСПОД каза на Самуил: Докога ще скърбиш за Саул, след като Аз го отхвърлих като цар над Израил? Напълни рога си с масло и иди, Аз те изпращам при витлеемеца Есей, защото си избрах цар измежду неговите синове.

And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Beth–lehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.

А Самуил каза: Как да отида? Ако чуе Саул, ще ме убие. А ГОСПОД каза: Вземи със себе си една юница и кажи: Дойдох да пожертвам на ГОСПОДА.

And Samuel said, How can I go? if Saul hear it, he will kill me. And the LORD said, Take an heifer with thee, and say, I am come to sacrifice to the LORD.

И покани Есей на жертвата и Аз ще ти кажа какво да направиш; и ще ми помажеш онзи, когото ти кажа.

And call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will shew thee what thou shalt do: and thou shalt anoint unto me him whom I name unto thee.

И Самуил направи, каквото каза ГОСПОД, и дойде във Витлеем. И старейшините на града го посрещнаха разтреперени и казаха: С мир ли идваш?

And Samuel did that which the LORD spake, and came to Beth–lehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, Comest thou peaceably?

И той каза: С мир. Дойдох да пожертвам на ГОСПОДА. Осветете се и елате с мен на жертвата. И той освети и Есей и синовете му и ги покани на жертвата.

And he said, Peaceably: I am come to sacrifice unto the LORD: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.

И когато дойдоха, той видя Елиав и си каза: Положително пред ГОСПОДА е Неговият помазаник.

And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD'S anointed is before him.

Но ГОСПОД каза на Самуил: Не гледай на вида му, нито на високия му ръст, понеже съм го отхвърлил; защото ГОСПОД не гледа на това, на което гледа човек; понеже човек гледа на лицето, а ГОСПОД гледа на сърцето.

But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

Тогава Есей повика Авинадав и го накара да мине пред Самуил. И той каза: И този не е избрал ГОСПОД.

Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, Neither hath the LORD chosen this.

След това Есей накара да мине Сама. И той каза: И този не е избрал ГОСПОД.

Then Jesse made Shammah to pass by. And he said, Neither hath the LORD chosen this.

Така Есей накара седем от синовете си да минат пред Самуил. Но Самуил каза на Есей: ГОСПОД не е избрал тези.

Again, Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said unto Jesse, The LORD hath not chosen these.

И Самуил каза на Есей: Това ли са всичките младежи? А той каза: Остава още най-малкият, и ето, той пасе овцете. Тогава Самуил каза на Есей: Изпрати да го доведат, защото няма да седнем на трапезата, докато той не дойде тук.

And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.

И той изпрати и го доведоха. А той беше червенокос, с красиви очи и хубав на вид. И ГОСПОД каза: Стани, помажи го, защото е този.

And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.

Тогава Самуил взе рога с масло и го помаза сред братята му; и ГОСПОДНИЯТ Дух дойде върху Давид от този ден и нататък. А Самуил стана и отиде в Рама.

Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

И ГОСПОДНИЯТ Дух се оттегли от Саул и зъл дух от ГОСПОДА го мъчеше.

But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.

И слугите на Саул му казаха: Ето сега, зъл дух от Бога те мъчи.

And Saul's servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee.

Нека сега господарят ни заповяда на слугите си, които са пред теб, да потърсят човек, който умее добре да свири на арфа. И когато злият дух от Бога е върху теб, той ще свири с ръката си и ще ти става добре.

Let our lord now command thy servants, which are before thee, to seek out a man, who is a cunning player on an harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well.

И Саул каза на слугите си: Намерете ми човек, който свири добре, и го доведете при мен.

And Saul said unto his servants, Provide me now a man that can play well, and bring him to me.

А един от слугите отговори и каза: Ето, видях един от синовете на витлеемеца Есей, който умее да свири, силен и храбър мъж, разумен в говорене и красив човек; и ГОСПОД е с него.

Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Beth–lehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him.

Затова Саул изпрати пратеници до Есей да кажат: Изпрати ми сина си Давид, който е с овцете.

Wherefore Saul sent messengers unto Jesse, and said, Send me David thy son, which is with the sheep.

И Есей взе едно магаре, натоварено с хляб и мех вино, и едно младо яре, и ги изпрати на Саул по сина си Давид.

And Jesse took an ass laden with bread, and a bottle of wine, and a kid, and sent them by David his son unto Saul.

Така Давид дойде при Саул и застана пред него; и той го обикна много и Давид му стана оръженосец.

And David came to Saul, and stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armourbearer.

И Саул изпрати до Есей да кажат: Моля те, нека Давид стои пред мен, защото намери благоволение пред мен.

And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David, I pray thee, stand before me; for he hath found favour in my sight.

И когато духът от Бога идваше върху Саул, Давид вземаше арфата и свиреше с ръката си и на Саул му олекваше и му ставаше добре, и злият дух се оттегляше от него.

And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.
