Zephaniah 1

ذیل میں رب کا وہ کلام قلم بند ہے جو صفنیاہ بن کوشی بن جِدلیاہ بن امریاہ بن حِزقیاہ پر نازل ہوا۔ اُس وقت یوسیاہ بن امون یہوداہ کا بادشاہ تھا۔

The word of the LORD which came unto Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hizkiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”مَیں رُوئے زمین پر سے سب کچھ مٹا ڈالوں گا،

I will utterly consume all things from off the land, saith the LORD.

انسان و حیوان، پرندوں، مچھلیوں، ٹھوکر کھلانے والی چیزوں اور بےدینوں کو۔ تب زمین پر انسان کا نام و نشان تک نہیں رہے گا۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the LORD.

”یہوداہ اور یروشلم کے تمام باشندوں پر میری سزا نازل ہو گی۔ بعل دیوتا کی جتنی بھی بُت پرستی اب تک رہ گئی ہے اُسے نیست و نابود کر دوں گا۔ نہ بُت پرست پجاریوں کا نام و نشان رہے گا،

I will also stretch out mine hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with the priests;

نہ اُن کا جو چھتوں پر سورج، چاند بلکہ آسمان کے پورے لشکر کو سجدہ کرتے ہیں، جو رب کی قَسم کھانے کے ساتھ ساتھ ملکوم دیوتا کی بھی قَسم کھاتے ہیں۔

And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and that swear by the LORD, and that swear by Malcham;

جو رب کی پیروی چھوڑ کر نہ اُسے تلاش کرتے، نہ اُس کی مرضی دریافت کرتے ہیں وہ سب کے سب تباہ ہو جائیں گے۔

And them that are turned back from the LORD; and those that have not sought the LORD, nor enquired for him.

اب رب قادرِ مطلق کے سامنے خاموش ہو جاؤ، کیونکہ رب کا دن قریب ہی ہے۔ رب نے اِس کے لئے ذبح کی قربانی تیار کر کے اپنے مہمانوں کو مخصوص و مُقدّس کر دیا ہے۔“

Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord GOD: for the day of the LORD is at hand: for the LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”جس دن مَیں یہ قربانی چڑھاؤں گا اُس دن بزرگوں، شہزادوں اور اجنبی لباس پہننے والوں کو سزا دوں گا۔

And it shall come to pass in the day of the LORD'S sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king's children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.

اُس دن مَیں اُن پر سزا نازل کروں گا جو توہم پرستی کے باعث دہلیز پر قدم رکھنے سے گریز کرتے ہیں، جو اپنے مالک کے گھر کو ظلم اور فریب سے بھر دیتے ہیں۔“

In the same day also will I punish all those that leap on the threshold, which fill their masters' houses with violence and deceit.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”اُس دن مچھلی کے دروازے سے زور کی چیخیں، نئے شہر سے آہ و زاری اور پہاڑیوں سے کڑکتی آوازیں سنائی دیں گی۔

And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and an howling from the second, and a great crashing from the hills.

اے مکتیس محلے کے باشندو، واویلا کرو، کیونکہ تمہارے تمام تاجر ہلاک ہو جائیں گے۔ وہاں کے جتنے بھی سوداگر چاندی تولتے ہیں وہ نیست و نابود ہو جائیں گے۔

Howl, ye inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the merchant people are cut down; all they that bear silver are cut off.

تب مَیں چراغ لے کر یروشلم کے کونے کونے میں اُن کا کھوج لگاؤں گا جو اِس وقت بڑے آرام سے بیٹھے ہیں، خواہ حالات کتنے بُرے کیوں نہ ہوں۔ مَیں اُن سے نپٹ لوں گا جو سوچتے ہیں، ’رب کچھ نہیں کرے گا، نہ اچھا کام اور نہ بُرا۔‘

And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil.

ایسے لوگوں کا مال لُوٹ لیا جائے گا، اُن کے گھر مسمار ہو جائیں گے۔ وہ نئے مکان تعمیر تو کریں گے لیکن اُن میں رہیں گے نہیں، انگور کے باغ لگائیں گے لیکن اُن کی مَے پئیں گے نہیں۔“

Therefore their goods shall become a booty, and their houses a desolation: they shall also build houses, but not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, but not drink the wine thereof.

رب کا عظیم دن قریب ہی ہے، وہ بڑی تیزی سے ہم پر نازل ہو رہا ہے۔ سنو! وہ دن تلخ ہو گا۔ حالات ایسے ہوں گے کہ بہادر فوجی بھی چیخ کر مدد کے لئے پکاریں گے۔

The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.

رب کا پورا غضب نازل ہو گا، اور لوگ پریشانی اور مصیبت میں مبتلا رہیں گے۔ ہر طرف تباہی و بربادی، ہر طرف اندھیرا ہی اندھیرا، ہر طرف گھنے بادل چھائے رہیں گے۔

That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,

اُس دن دشمن نرسنگا پھونک کر اور جنگ کے نعرے لگا کر قلعہ بند شہروں اور بُرجوں پر ٹوٹ پڑے گا۔

A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”چونکہ لوگوں نے میرا گناہ کیا ہے اِس لئے مَیں اُن کو بڑی مصیبت میں اُلجھا دوں گا۔ وہ اندھوں کی طرح ٹٹول ٹٹول کر اِدھر اُدھر پھریں گے، اُن کا خون خاک کی طرح گرایا جائے گا اور اُن کی نعشیں گوبر کی طرح زمین پر پھینکی جائیں گی۔“

And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.

جب رب کا غضب نازل ہو گا تو نہ اُن کا سونا، نہ چاندی اُنہیں بچا سکے گی۔ اُس کی غیرت پورے ملک کو آگ کی طرح بھسم کر دے گی۔ وہ ملک کے تمام باشندوں کو ہلاک کرے گا، ہاں اُن کا انجام ہول ناک ہو گا۔

Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD'S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.
