Judges 3

رب نے کئی ایک قوموں کو ملکِ کنعان میں رہنے دیا تاکہ اُن تمام اسرائیلیوں کو آزمائے جو خود کنعان کی جنگوں میں شریک نہیں ہوئے تھے۔

Now these are the nations which the LORD left, to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as had not known all the wars of Canaan;

نیز، وہ نئی نسل کو جنگ کرنا سکھانا چاہتا تھا، کیونکہ وہ جنگ کرنے سے ناواقف تھی۔ ذیل کی قومیں کنعان میں رہ گئی تھیں:

Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing thereof;

فلستی اُن کے پانچ حکمرانوں سمیت، تمام کنعانی، صیدانی اور لبنان کے پہاڑی علاقے میں رہنے والے حِوّی جو بعل حرمون پہاڑ سے لے کر لبو حمات تک آباد تھے۔

Namely, five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites that dwelt in mount Lebanon, from mount Baal–hermon unto the entering in of Hamath.

اُن سے رب اسرائیلیوں کو آزمانا چاہتا تھا۔ وہ دیکھنا چاہتا تھا کہ کیا یہ میرے اُن احکام پر عمل کرتے ہیں یا نہیں جو مَیں نے موسیٰ کی معرفت اُن کے باپ دادا کو دیئے تھے۔

And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.

چنانچہ اسرائیلی کنعانیوں، حِتّیوں، اموریوں، فرِزّیوں، حِوّیوں اور یبوسیوں کے درمیان ہی آباد ہو گئے۔

And the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, Hittites, and Amorites, and Perizzites, and Hivites, and Jebusites:

نہ صرف یہ بلکہ وہ اِن قوموں سے اپنے بیٹے بیٹیوں کا رشتہ باندھ کر اُن کے دیوتاؤں کی پوجا بھی کرنے لگے۔

And they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods.

اسرائیلیوں نے ایسی حرکتیں کیں جو رب کی نظر میں بُری تھیں۔ رب کو بھول کر اُنہوں نے بعل دیوتا اور یسیرت دیوی کی خدمت کی۔

And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and forgat the LORD their God, and served Baalim and the groves.

تب رب کا غضب اُن پر نازل ہوا، اور اُس نے اُنہیں مسوپتامیہ کے بادشاہ کوشن رِسعتَیم کے حوالے کر دیا۔ اسرائیلی آٹھ سال تک کوشن کے غلام رہے۔

Therefore the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushan–rishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushan–rishathaim eight years.

لیکن جب اُنہوں نے مدد کے لئے رب کو پکارا تو اُس نے اُن کے لئے ایک نجات دہندہ برپا کیا۔ کالب کے چھوٹے بھائی غُتنی ایل بن قنز نے اُنہیں دشمن کے ہاتھ سے بچایا۔

And when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother.

اُس وقت غُتنی ایل پر رب کا روح نازل ہوا، اور وہ اسرائیل کا قاضی بن گیا۔ جب وہ جنگ کرنے کے لئے نکلا تو رب نے مسوپتامیہ کے بادشاہ کوشن رِسعتَیم کو اُس کے حوالے کر دیا، اور وہ اُس پر غالب آ گیا۔

And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the LORD delivered Chushan–rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushan–rishathaim.

تب ملک میں چالیس سال تک امن و امان قائم رہا۔ لیکن جب غُتنی ایل بن قنز فوت ہوا

And the land had rest forty years. And Othniel the son of Kenaz died.

تو اسرائیلی دوبارہ وہ کچھ کرنے لگے جو رب کی نظر میں بُرا تھا۔ اِس لئے اُس نے موآب کے بادشاہ عجلون کو اسرائیل پر غالب آنے دیا۔

And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil in the sight of the LORD.

عجلون نے عمونیوں اور عمالیقیوں کے ساتھ مل کر اسرائیلیوں سے جنگ کی اور اُنہیں شکست دی۔ اُس نے کھجوروں کے شہر پر قبضہ کیا،

And he gathered unto him the children of Ammon and Amalek, and went and smote Israel, and possessed the city of palm trees.

اور اسرائیل 18 سال تک اُس کی غلامی میں رہا۔

So the children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.

اسرائیلیوں نے دوبارہ مدد کے لئے رب کو پکارا، اور دوبارہ اُس نے اُنہیں نجات دہندہ عطا کیا یعنی بن یمین کے قبیلے کا اہود بن جیرا جو بائیں ہاتھ سے کام کرنے کا عادی تھا۔ اِسی شخص کو اسرائیلیوں نے عجلون بادشاہ کے پاس بھیج دیا تاکہ وہ اُسے خراج کے پیسے ادا کرے۔

But when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benjamite, a man lefthanded: and by him the children of Israel sent a present unto Eglon the king of Moab.

اہود نے اپنے لئے ایک دو دھاری تلوار بنا لی جو تقریباً ڈیڑھ فٹ لمبی تھی۔ جاتے وقت اُس نے اُسے اپنی کمر کے دائیں طرف باندھ کر اپنے لباس میں چھپا لیا۔

But Ehud made him a dagger which had two edges, of a cubit length; and he did gird it under his raiment upon his right thigh.

جب وہ عجلون کے دربار میں پہنچ گیا تو اُس نے موآب کے بادشاہ کو خراج پیش کیا۔ عجلون بہت موٹا آدمی تھا۔

And he brought the present unto Eglon king of Moab: and Eglon was a very fat man.

پھر اہود نے اُن آدمیوں کو رُخصت کر دیا جنہوں نے اُس کے ساتھ خراج اُٹھا کر اُسے دربار تک پہنچایا تھا۔

And when he had made an end to offer the present, he sent away the people that bare the present.

اہود بھی وہاں سے روانہ ہوا، لیکن جِلجال کے بُتوں کے قریب وہ مُڑ کر عجلون کے پاس واپس گیا۔ عجلون بالاخانے میں بیٹھا تھا جو زیادہ ٹھنڈا تھا اور اُس کے ذاتی استعمال کے لئے مخصوص تھا۔ اہود نے اندر جا کر بادشاہ سے کہا، ”میری آپ کے لئے خفیہ خبر ہے۔“ بادشاہ نے کہا، ”خاموش!“ باقی تمام حاضرین کمرے سے چلے گئے تو اہود نے کہا، ”جو خبر میرے پاس آپ کے لئے ہے وہ اللہ کی طرف سے ہے!“ یہ سن کر عجلون کھڑا ہونے لگا،

But he himself turned again from the quarries that were by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret errand unto thee, O king: who said, Keep silence. And all that stood by him went out from him.

اہود بھی وہاں سے روانہ ہوا، لیکن جِلجال کے بُتوں کے قریب وہ مُڑ کر عجلون کے پاس واپس گیا۔ عجلون بالاخانے میں بیٹھا تھا جو زیادہ ٹھنڈا تھا اور اُس کے ذاتی استعمال کے لئے مخصوص تھا۔ اہود نے اندر جا کر بادشاہ سے کہا، ”میری آپ کے لئے خفیہ خبر ہے۔“ بادشاہ نے کہا، ”خاموش!“ باقی تمام حاضرین کمرے سے چلے گئے تو اہود نے کہا، ”جو خبر میرے پاس آپ کے لئے ہے وہ اللہ کی طرف سے ہے!“ یہ سن کر عجلون کھڑا ہونے لگا،

And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting in a summer parlour, which he had for himself alone. And Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat.

لیکن اہود نے اُسی لمحے اپنے بائیں ہاتھ سے کمر کے دائیں طرف بندھی ہوئی تلوار کو پکڑ کر اُسے میان سے نکالا اور عجلون کے پیٹ میں دھنسا دیا۔

And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly:

تلوار اِتنی دھنس گئی کہ اُس کا دستہ بھی چربی میں غائب ہو گیا اور اُس کی نوک ٹانگوں میں سے نکلی۔ تلوار کو اُس میں چھوڑ کر

And the haft also went in after the blade; and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out.

اہود نے کمرے کے دروازوں کو بند کر کے کنڈی لگائی اور ساتھ والے کمرے میں سے نکل کر چلا گیا۔

Then Ehud went forth through the porch, and shut the doors of the parlour upon him, and locked them.

تھوڑی دیر کے بعد بادشاہ کے نوکروں نے آ کر دیکھا کہ دروازوں پر کنڈی لگی ہے۔ اُنہوں نے ایک دوسرے سے کہا، ”وہ حاجت رفع کر رہے ہوں گے،“

When he was gone out, his servants came; and when they saw that, behold, the doors of the parlour were locked, they said, Surely he covereth his feet in his summer chamber.

اِس لئے کچھ دیر کے لئے ٹھہرے۔ لیکن دروازہ نہ کھلا۔ انتظار کرتے کرتے وہ تھک گئے، لیکن بےسود، بادشاہ نے دروازہ نہ کھولا۔ آخرکار اُنہوں نے چابی ڈھونڈ کر دروازوں کو کھول دیا اور دیکھا کہ مالک کی لاش فرش پر پڑی ہوئی ہے۔

And they tarried till they were ashamed: and, behold, he opened not the doors of the parlour; therefore they took a key, and opened them: and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth.

نوکروں کے جھجکنے کی وجہ سے اہود بچ نکلا اور جِلجال کے بُتوں سے گزر کر سعیرہ پہنچ گیا جہاں وہ محفوظ تھا۔

And Ehud escaped while they tarried, and passed beyond the quarries, and escaped unto Seirath.

وہاں افرائیم کے پہاڑی علاقے میں اُس نے نرسنگا پھونک دیا تاکہ اسرائیلی لڑنے کے لئے جمع ہو جائیں۔ وہ اکٹھے ہوئے اور اُس کی راہنمائی میں وادیِ یردن میں اُتر گئے۔

And it came to pass, when he was come, that he blew a trumpet in the mountain of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the mount, and he before them.

اہود بولا، ”میرے پیچھے ہو لیں، کیونکہ اللہ نے آپ کے دشمن موآب کو آپ کے حوالے کر دیا ہے۔“ چنانچہ وہ اُس کے پیچھے پیچھے وادی میں اُتر گئے۔ پہلے اُنہوں نے دریائے یردن کے کم گہرے مقاموں پر قبضہ کر کے کسی کو دریا پار کرنے نہ دیا۔

And he said unto them, Follow after me: for the LORD hath delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the fords of Jordan toward Moab, and suffered not a man to pass over.

اُس وقت اُنہوں نے موآب کے 10,000 طاقت ور اور جنگ کرنے کے قابل آدمیوں کو مار ڈالا۔ ایک بھی نہ بچا۔

And they slew of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, all lusty, and all men of valour; and there escaped not a man.

اُس دن اسرائیل نے موآب کو زیر کر دیا، اور 80 سال تک ملک میں امن و امان قائم رہا۔

So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land had rest fourscore years.

اہود کے دور کے بعد اسرائیل کا ایک اور نجات دہندہ اُبھر آیا، شمجر بن عنات۔ اُس نے بَیل کے آنکس سے 600 فلستیوں کو مار ڈالا۔

And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, which slew of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox goad: and he also delivered Israel.
