Jeremiah 3

رب فرماتا ہے، ”اگر کوئی اپنی بیوی کو طلاق دے اور الگ ہونے کے بعد بیوی کی کسی اَور سے شادی ہو جائے تو کیا پہلے شوہر کو اُس سے دوبارہ شادی کرنے کی اجازت ہے؟ ہرگز نہیں، بلکہ ایسی حرکت سے پورے ملک کی بےحرمتی ہو جاتی ہے۔ دیکھ، یہی تیری حالت ہے۔ تُو نے متعدد عاشقوں سے زنا کیا ہے، اور اب تُو میرے پاس واپس آنا چاہتی ہے۔ یہ کیسی بات ہے؟

They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD.

اپنی نظر بنجر پہاڑیوں کی طرف اُٹھا کر دیکھ! کیا کوئی جگہ ہے جہاں زنا کرنے سے تیری بےحرمتی نہیں ہوئی؟ ریگستان میں تنہا بیٹھنے والے بَدُوکی طرح تُو راستوں کے کنارے پر اپنے عاشقوں کی تاک میں بیٹھی رہی ہے۔ اپنی عصمت فروشی اور بدکاری سے تُو نے ملک کی بےحرمتی کی ہے۔

Lift up thine eyes unto the high places, and see where thou hast not been lien with. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast polluted the land with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness.

اِسی وجہ سے بہار میں برسات کا موسم روکا گیا اور بارش نہیں پڑی۔ لیکن افسوس، تُو کسبی کی سی پیشانی رکھتی ہے، تُو شرم کھانے کے لئے تیار ہی نہیں۔

Therefore the showers have been withholden, and there hath been no latter rain; and thou hadst a whore's forehead, thou refusedst to be ashamed.

اِس وقت بھی تُو چیختی چلّاتی آواز دیتی ہے، ’اے میرے باپ، جو میری جوانی سے میرا دوست ہے،

Wilt thou not from this time cry unto me, My father, thou art the guide of my youth?

کیا تُو ہمیشہ تک میرے ساتھ ناراض رہے گا؟ کیا تیرا قہر کبھی ٹھنڈا نہیں ہو گا؟‘ یہی تیرے اپنے الفاظ ہیں، لیکن ساتھ ساتھ تُو غلط کام کرنے کی ہر ممکن کوشش کرتی رہتی ہے۔“

Will he reserve his anger for ever? will he keep it to the end? Behold, thou hast spoken and done evil things as thou couldest.

یوسیاہ بادشاہ کی حکومت کے دوران رب مجھ سے ہم کلام ہوا، ”کیا تُو نے وہ کچھ دیکھا جو بےوفا اسرائیل نے کیا ہے؟ اُس نے ہر بلندی پر اور ہر گھنے درخت کے سائے میں زنا کیا ہے۔

The LORD said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot.

مَیں نے سوچا کہ یہ سب کچھ کرنے کے بعد وہ میرے پاس واپس آئے گی۔ لیکن افسوس، ایسا نہ ہوا۔ اُس کی غدار بہن یہوداہ بھی اِن تمام واقعات کی گواہ تھی۔

And I said after she had done all these things, Turn thou unto me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it.

بےوفا اسرائیل کی زناکاری ناقابلِ برداشت تھی، اِس لئے مَیں نے اُسے گھر سے نکال کر طلاق نامہ دے دیا۔ پھر بھی مَیں نے دیکھا کہ اُس کی غدار بہن یہوداہ نے خوف نہ کھایا بلکہ خود نکل کر زنا کرنے لگی۔

And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.

اسرائیل کو اِس جرم کی سنجیدگی محسوس نہ ہوئی بلکہ اُس نے پتھر اور لکڑی کے بُتوں کے ساتھ زنا کر کے ملک کی بےحرمتی کی۔

And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks.

اِس کے باوجود اُس کی بےوفا بہن یہوداہ پورے دل سے نہیں بلکہ صرف ظاہری طور پر میرے پاس واپس آئی۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the LORD.

رب مجھ سے ہم کلام ہوا، ”بے وفا اسرائیل غدار یہوداہ کی نسبت زیادہ راست باز ہے۔

And the LORD said unto me, The backsliding Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah.

جا، شمال کی طرف دیکھ کر بلند آواز سے اعلان کر، ’اے بےوفا اسرائیل، رب فرماتا ہے کہ واپس آ! آئندہ مَیں غصے سے تیری طرف نہیں دیکھوں گا، کیونکہ مَیں مہربان ہوں۔ مَیں ہمیشہ تک ناراض نہیں رہوں گا۔ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever.

لیکن لازم ہے کہ تُو اپنا قصور تسلیم کرے۔ اقرار کر کہ مَیں رب اپنے خدا سے سرکش ہوئی۔ مَیں اِدھر اُدھر گھوم کر ہر گھنے درخت کے سائے میں اجنبی معبودوں کی پوجا کرتی رہی، مَیں نے رب کی نہ سنی‘۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”اے بےوفا بچو، واپس آؤ، کیونکہ مَیں تمہارا مالک ہوں۔ مَیں تمہیں ہر جگہ سے نکال کر صیون میں واپس لاؤں گا۔ کسی شہر سے مَیں ایک کو نکال لاؤں گا، اور کسی خاندان سے دو افراد کو۔

Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:

تب مَیں تمہیں ایسے گلہ بانوں سے نوازوں گا جو میری سوچ رکھیں گے اور جو سمجھ اور عقل کے ساتھ تمہاری گلہ بانی کریں گے۔

And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

پھر تمہاری تعداد بہت بڑھے گی اور تم چاروں طرف پھیل جاؤ گے۔“ رب فرماتا ہے، ”اُن دنوں میں رب کے عہد کے صندوق کا ذکر نہیں کیا جائے گا۔ نہ اُس کا خیال آئے گا، نہ اُسے یاد کیا جائے گا۔ نہ اُس کی کمی محسوس ہو گی، نہ اُسے دوبارہ بنایا جائے گا۔

And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more.

کیونکہ اُس وقت یروشلم ’رب کا تخت‘ کہلائے گا، اور اُس میں تمام اقوام رب کے نام کی تعظیم میں جمع ہو جائیں گی۔ تب وہ اپنے شریر اور ضدی دلوں کے مطابق زندگی نہیں گزاریں گی۔

At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.

تب یہوداہ کا گھرانا اسرائیل کے گھرانے کے پاس آئے گا، اور وہ مل کر شمالی ملک سے اُس ملک میں واپس آئیں گے جو مَیں نے تمہارے باپ دادا کو میراث میں دیا تھا۔

In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.

مَیں نے سوچا، کاش مَیں تیرے ساتھ بیٹوں کا سا سلوک کر کے تجھے ایک خوش گوار ملک دے سکوں، ایک ایسی میراث جو دیگر اقوام کی نسبت کہیں شاندار ہو۔ مَیں سمجھا کہ تم مجھے اپنا باپ ٹھہرا کر اپنا منہ مجھ سے نہیں پھیرو گے۔

But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me.

لیکن اے اسرائیلی قوم، تُو مجھ سے بےوفا رہی ہے، بالکل اُس عورت کی طرح جو اپنے شوہر سے بےوفا ہو گئی ہے۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD.

”سنو! بنجر بلندیوں پر چیخیں اور التجائیں سنائی دے رہی ہیں۔ اسرائیلی رو رہے ہیں، اِس لئے کہ وہ غلط راہ اختیار کر کے رب اپنے خدا کو بھول گئے ہیں۔

A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the LORD their God.

اے بےوفا بچو، واپس آؤ تاکہ مَیں تمہارے بےوفا دلوں کو شفا دے سکوں۔“ ”اے رب، ہم حاضر ہیں۔ ہم تیرے پاس آتے ہیں، کیونکہ تُو ہی رب ہمارا خدا ہے۔

Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the LORD our God.

واقعی، پہاڑیوں اور پہاڑوں پر بُت پرستی کا تماشا فریب ہی ہے۔ یقیناً رب ہمارا خدا اسرائیل کی نجات ہے۔

Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel.

ہماری جوانی سے لے کر آج تک شرم ناک دیوتا ہمارے باپ دادا کی محنت کا پھل کھاتے آئے ہیں، خواہ اُن کی بھیڑبکریاں اور گائےبَیل تھے، خواہ اُن کے بیٹے بیٹیاں۔

For shame hath devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.

آؤ، ہم اپنی شرم کے بستر پر لیٹ جائیں اور اپنی بےعزتی کی رضائی میں چھپ جائیں۔ کیونکہ ہم نے اپنے باپ دادا سمیت رب اپنے خدا کا گناہ کیا ہے۔ اپنی جوانی سے لے کر آج تک ہم نے رب اپنے خدا کی نہیں سنی۔“

We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.
