II Samuel 19

یوآب کو اطلاع دی گئی، ”بادشاہ روتے روتے ابی سلوم کا ماتم کر رہا ہے۔“

And it was told Joab, Behold, the king weepeth and mourneth for Absalom.

جب فوجیوں کو خبر ملی کہ بادشاہ اپنے بیٹے کا ماتم کر رہا ہے تو فتح پانے پر اُن کی ساری خوشی کافور ہو گئی۔ ہر طرف ماتم اور غم کا سماں تھا۔

And the victory that day was turned into mourning unto all the people: for the people heard say that day how the king was grieved for his son.

اُس دن داؤد کے آدمی چوری چوری شہر میں گھس آئے، ایسے لوگوں کی طرح جو میدانِ جنگ سے فرار ہونے پر شرماتے ہوئے چپکے سے شہر میں آ جاتے ہیں۔

And the people gat them by stealth that day into the city, as people being ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.

بادشاہ ابھی کمرے میں بیٹھا تھا۔ اپنے منہ کو ڈھانپ کر وہ چیختا چلّاتا رہا، ”ہائے میرے بیٹے ابی سلوم! ہائے ابی سلوم، میرے بیٹے، میرے بیٹے!“

But the king covered his face, and the king cried with a loud voice, O my son Absalom, O Absalom, my son, my son!

تب یوآب اُس کے پاس جا کر اُسے سمجھانے لگا، ”آج آپ کے خادموں نے نہ صرف آپ کی جان بچائی ہے بلکہ آپ کے بیٹوں، بیٹیوں، بیویوں اور داشتاؤں کی جان بھی۔ توبھی آپ نے اُن کا منہ کالا کر دیا ہے۔

And Joab came into the house to the king, and said, Thou hast shamed this day the faces of all thy servants, which this day have saved thy life, and the lives of thy sons and of thy daughters, and the lives of thy wives, and the lives of thy concubines;

جو آپ سے نفرت کرتے ہیں اُن سے آپ محبت رکھتے ہیں جبکہ جو آپ سے پیار کرتے ہیں اُن سے آپ نفرت کرتے ہیں۔ آج آپ نے صاف ظاہر کر دیا ہے کہ آپ کے کمانڈر اور دستے آپ کی نظر میں کوئی حیثیت نہیں رکھتے۔ ہاں، آج مَیں نے جان لیا ہے کہ اگر ابی سلوم زندہ ہوتا تو آپ خوش ہوتے، خواہ ہم باقی تمام لوگ ہلاک کیوں نہ ہو جاتے۔

In that thou lovest thine enemies, and hatest thy friends. For thou hast declared this day, that thou regardest neither princes nor servants: for this day I perceive, that if Absalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it had pleased thee well.

اب اُٹھ کر باہر جائیں اور اپنے خادموں کی حوصلہ افزائی کریں۔ رب کی قَسم، اگر آپ باہر نہ نکلیں گے تو رات تک ایک بھی آپ کے ساتھ نہیں رہے گا۔ پھر آپ پر ایسی مصیبت آئے گی جو آپ کی جوانی سے لے کر آج تک آپ پر نہیں آئی ہے۔“

Now therefore arise, go forth, and speak comfortably unto thy servants: for I swear by the LORD, if thou go not forth, there will not tarry one with thee this night: and that will be worse unto thee than all the evil that befell thee from thy youth until now.

تب داؤد اُٹھا اور شہر کے دروازے کے پاس اُتر آیا۔ جب فوجیوں کو بتایا گیا کہ بادشاہ شہر کے دروازے میں بیٹھا ہے تو وہ سب اُس کے سامنے جمع ہوئے۔ اِتنے میں اسرائیلی اپنے گھر بھاگ گئے تھے۔

Then the king arose, and sat in the gate. And they told unto all the people, saying, Behold, the king doth sit in the gate. And all the people came before the king: for Israel had fled every man to his tent.

اسرائیل کے تمام قبیلوں میں لوگ آپس میں بحث مباحثہ کرنے لگے، ”داؤد بادشاہ نے ہمیں ہمارے دشمنوں سے بچایا، اور اُسی نے ہمیں فلستیوں کے ہاتھ سے آزاد کر دیا۔ لیکن ابی سلوم کی وجہ سے وہ ملک سے ہجرت کر گیا ہے۔

And all the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, The king saved us out of the hand of our enemies, and he delivered us out of the hand of the Philistines; and now he is fled out of the land for Absalom.

اب جب ابی سلوم جسے ہم نے مسح کر کے بادشاہ بنایا تھا مر گیا ہے تو آپ بادشاہ کو واپس لانے سے کیوں جھجکتے ہیں؟“

And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why speak ye not a word of bringing the king back?

داؤد نے صدوق اور ابیاتر اماموں کی معرفت یہوداہ کے بزرگوں کو اطلاع دی، ”یہ بات مجھ تک پہنچ گئی ہے کہ تمام اسرائیل اپنے بادشاہ کا استقبال کر کے اُسے محل میں واپس لانا چاہتا ہے۔ تو پھر آپ کیوں دیر کر رہے ہیں؟ کیا آپ مجھے واپس لانے میں سب سے آخر میں آنا چاہتے ہیں؟

And king David sent to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, saying, Speak unto the elders of Judah, saying, Why are ye the last to bring the king back to his house? seeing the speech of all Israel is come to the king, even to his house.

آپ میرے بھائی، میرے قریبی رشتے دار ہیں۔ تو پھر آپ بادشاہ کو واپس لانے میں آخر میں کیوں آ رہے ہیں؟“

Ye are my brethren, ye are my bones and my flesh: wherefore then are ye the last to bring back the king?

اور ابی سلوم کے کمانڈر عماسا کو دونوں اماموں نے داؤد کا یہ پیغام پہنچایا، ”سنیں، آپ میرے بھتیجے ہیں، اِس لئے اب سے آپ ہی یوآب کی جگہ میری فوج کے کمانڈر ہوں گے۔ اللہ مجھے سخت سزا دے اگر مَیں اپنا یہ وعدہ پورا نہ کروں۔“

And say ye to Amasa, Art thou not of my bone, and of my flesh? God do so to me, and more also, if thou be not captain of the host before me continually in the room of Joab.

اِس طرح داؤد یہوداہ کے تمام دلوں کو جیت سکا، اور سب کے سب اُس کے پیچھے لگ گئے۔ اُنہوں نے اُسے پیغام بھیجا، ”واپس آئیں، آپ بھی اور آپ کے تمام لوگ بھی۔“

And he bowed the heart of all the men of Judah, even as the heart of one man; so that they sent this word unto the king, Return thou, and all thy servants.

تب داؤد یروشلم واپس چلنے لگا۔ جب وہ دریائے یردن تک پہنچا تو یہوداہ کے لوگ جِلجال میں آئے تاکہ اُس سے ملیں اور اُسے دریا کے دوسرے کنارے تک پہنچائیں۔

So the king returned, and came to Jordan. And Judah came to Gilgal, to go to meet the king, to conduct the king over Jordan.

بن یمینی شہر بحوریم کا سِمعی بن جیرا بھی بھاگ کر یہوداہ کے آدمیوں کے ساتھ داؤد سے ملنے آیا۔

And Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite, which was of Bahurim, hasted and came down with the men of Judah to meet king David.

بن یمین کے قبیلے کے ہزار آدمی اُس کے ساتھ تھے۔ ساؤل کا پرانا نوکر ضیبا بھی اپنے 15 بیٹوں اور 20 نوکروں سمیت اُن میں شامل تھا۔ بادشاہ کے یردن کے کنارے تک پہنچنے سے پہلے پہلے

And there were a thousand men of Benjamin with him, and Ziba the servant of the house of Saul, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with him; and they went over Jordan before the king.

وہ جلدی سے دریا کو عبور کر کے اُس کے پاس آئے تاکہ بادشاہ کے گھرانے کو دریا کے دوسرے کنارے تک پہنچائیں اور ہر طرح سے بادشاہ کو خوش رکھیں۔ داؤد دریا کو پار کرنے کو تھا کہ سِمعی اوندھے منہ اُس کے سامنے گر گیا۔

And there went over a ferry boat to carry over the king's household, and to do what he thought good. And Shimei the son of Gera fell down before the king, as he was come over Jordan;

اُس نے التماس کی، ”میرے آقا، مجھے معاف کریں۔ جو زیادتی مَیں نے اُس دن آپ سے کی جب آپ کو یروشلم کو چھوڑنا پڑا وہ یاد نہ کریں۔ براہِ کرم یہ بات اپنے ذہن سے نکال دیں۔

And said unto the king, Let not my lord impute iniquity unto me, neither do thou remember that which thy servant did perversely the day that my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should take it to his heart.

مَیں نے جان لیا ہے کہ مجھ سے بڑا جرم سرزد ہوا ہے، اِس لئے آج مَیں یوسف کے گھرانے کے تمام افراد سے پہلے ہی اپنے آقا اور بادشاہ کے حضور آ گیا ہوں۔“

For thy servant doth know that I have sinned: therefore, behold, I am come the first this day of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord the king.

ابی شے بن ضرویاہ بولا، ”سِمعی سزائے موت کے لائق ہے! اُس نے رب کے مسح کئے ہوئے بادشاہ پر لعنت کی ہے۔“

But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the LORD'S anointed?

لیکن داؤد نے اُسے ڈانٹا، ”میرا آپ اور آپ کے بھائی یوآب کے ساتھ کیا واسطہ؟ ایسی باتوں سے آپ اِس دن میرے مخالف بن گئے ہیں! آج تو اسرائیل میں کسی کو سزائے موت دینے کا نہیں بلکہ خوشی کا دن ہے۔ دیکھیں، اِس دن مَیں دوبارہ اسرائیل کا بادشاہ بن گیا ہوں!“

And David said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be adversaries unto me? shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? for do not I know that I am this day king over Israel?

پھر بادشاہ سِمعی سے مخاطب ہوا، ”رب کی قَسم، آپ نہیں مریں گے۔“

Therefore the king said unto Shimei, Thou shalt not die. And the king sware unto him.

ساؤل کا پوتا مفی بوست بھی بادشاہ سے ملنے آیا۔ اُس دن سے جب داؤد کو یروشلم کو چھوڑنا پڑا آج تک جب وہ سلامتی سے واپس پہنچا مفی بوست ماتم کی حالت میں رہا تھا۔ نہ اُس نے اپنے پاؤں نہ اپنے کپڑے دھوئے تھے، نہ اپنی مونچھوں کی کانٹ چھانٹ کی تھی۔

And Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king, and had neither dressed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came again in peace.

جب وہ بادشاہ سے ملنے کے لئے یروشلم سے نکلا تو بادشاہ نے اُس سے سوال کیا، ”مفی بوست، آپ میرے ساتھ کیوں نہیں گئے تھے؟“

And it came to pass, when he was come to Jerusalem to meet the king, that the king said unto him, Wherefore wentest not thou with me, Mephibosheth?

اُس نے جواب دیا، ”میرے آقا اور بادشاہ، مَیں جانے کے لئے تیار تھا، لیکن میرا نوکر ضیبا مجھے دھوکا دے کر اکیلا ہی چلا گیا۔ مَیں نے تو اُسے بتایا تھا، ’میرے گدھے پر زِین کسو تاکہ مَیں بادشاہ کے ساتھ روانہ ہو سکوں۔‘ اور میرا جانے کا کوئی اَور وسیلہ تھا نہیں، کیونکہ مَیں دونوں ٹانگوں سے معذور ہوں۔

And he answered, My lord, O king, my servant deceived me: for thy servant said, I will saddle me an ass, that I may ride thereon, and go to the king; because thy servant is lame.

ضیبا نے مجھ پر تہمت لگائی ہے۔ لیکن میرے آقا اور بادشاہ اللہ کے فرشتے جیسے ہیں۔ میرے ساتھ وہی کچھ کریں جو آپ کو مناسب لگے۔

And he hath slandered thy servant unto my lord the king; but my lord the king is as an angel of God: do therefore what is good in thine eyes.

میرے دادا کے پورے گھرانے کو آپ ہلاک کر سکتے تھے، لیکن پھر بھی آپ نے میری عزت کر کے اُن مہمانوں میں شامل کر لیا جو روزانہ آپ کی میز پر کھانا کھاتے ہیں۔ چنانچہ میرا کیا حق ہے کہ مَیں بادشاہ سے مزید اپیل کروں۔“

For all of my father's house were but dead men before my lord the king: yet didst thou set thy servant among them that did eat at thine own table. What right therefore have I yet to cry any more unto the king?

بادشاہ بولا، ”اب بس کریں۔ مَیں نے فیصلہ کر لیا ہے کہ آپ کی زمینیں آپ اور ضیبا میں برابر تقسیم کی جائیں۔“

And the king said unto him, Why speakest thou any more of thy matters? I have said, Thou and Ziba divide the land.

مفی بوست نے جواب دیا، ”وہ سب کچھ لے لے۔ میرے لئے یہی کافی ہے کہ آج میرے آقا اور بادشاہ سلامتی سے اپنے محل میں واپس آ پہنچے ہیں۔“

And Mephibosheth said unto the king, Yea, let him take all, forasmuch as my lord the king is come again in peace unto his own house.

برزلی جِلعادی راجلیم سے آیا تھا تاکہ بادشاہ کے ساتھ دریائے یردن کو پار کر کے اُسے رُخصت کرے۔

And Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim, and went over Jordan with the king, to conduct him over Jordan.

برزلی 80 سال کا تھا۔ محنائم میں رہتے وقت اُسی نے داؤد کی مہمان نوازی کی تھی، کیونکہ وہ بہت امیر تھا۔

Now Barzillai was a very aged man, even fourscore years old: and he had provided the king of sustenance while he lay at Mahanaim; for he was a very great man.

اب داؤد نے برزلی کو دعوت دی، ”میرے ساتھ یروشلم جا کر وہاں رہیں! مَیں آپ کا ہر طرح سے خیال رکھوں گا۔“

And the king said unto Barzillai, Come thou over with me, and I will feed thee with me in Jerusalem.

لیکن برزلی نے انکار کیا، ”میری زندگی کے تھوڑے دن باقی ہیں، مَیں کیوں یروشلم میں جا بسوں؟

And Barzillai said unto the king, How long have I to live, that I should go up with the king unto Jerusalem?

میری عمر 80 سال ہے۔ نہ مَیں اچھی اور بُری چیزوں میں امتیاز کر سکتا، نہ مجھے کھانے پینے کی چیزوں کا مزہ آتا ہے۔ گیت گانے والوں کی آوازیں بھی مجھ سے سنی نہیں جاتیں۔ نہیں میرے آقا اور بادشاہ، اگر مَیں آپ کے ساتھ جاؤں تو آپ کے لئے صرف بوجھ کا باعث ہوں گا۔

I am this day fourscore years old: and can I discern between good and evil? can thy servant taste what I eat or what I drink? can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? wherefore then should thy servant be yet a burden unto my lord the king?

اِس کی ضرورت نہیں کہ آپ مجھے اِس قسم کا معاوضہ دیں۔ مَیں بس آپ کے ساتھ دریائے یردن کو پار کروں گا

Thy servant will go a little way over Jordan with the king: and why should the king recompense it me with such a reward?

اور پھر اگر اجازت ہو تو واپس چلا جاؤں گا۔ مَیں اپنے ہی شہر میں مرنا چاہتا ہوں، جہاں میرے ماں باپ کی قبر ہے۔ لیکن میرا بیٹا کِمہام آپ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہے۔ وہ آپ کے ساتھ چلا جائے تو آپ اُس کے لئے وہ کچھ کریں جو آپ کو مناسب لگے۔“

Let thy servant, I pray thee, turn back again, that I may die in mine own city, and be buried by the grave of my father and of my mother. But behold thy servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good unto thee.

داؤد نے جواب دیا، ”ٹھیک ہے، کِمہام میرے ساتھ جائے۔ اور جو کچھ بھی آپ چاہیں گے مَیں اُس کے لئے کروں گا۔ اگر کوئی کام ہے جو مَیں آپ کے لئے کر سکتا ہوں تو مَیں حاضر ہوں۔“

And the king answered, Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good unto thee: and whatsoever thou shalt require of me, that will I do for thee.

پھر داؤد نے اپنے ساتھیوں سمیت دریا کو عبور کیا۔ برزلی کو بوسہ دے کر اُس نے اُسے برکت دی۔ برزلی اپنے شہر واپس چل پڑا

And all the people went over Jordan. And when the king was come over, the king kissed Barzillai, and blessed him; and he returned unto his own place.

جبکہ داؤد جِلجال کی طرف بڑھ گیا۔ کِمہام بھی ساتھ گیا۔ اِس کے علاوہ یہوداہ کے سب اور اسرائیل کے آدھے لوگ اُس کے ساتھ چلے۔

Then the king went on to Gilgal, and Chimham went on with him: and all the people of Judah conducted the king, and also half the people of Israel.

راستے میں اسرائیل کے مرد بادشاہ کے پاس آ کر شکایت کرنے لگے، ”ہمارے بھائیوں یہوداہ کے لوگوں نے آپ کو آپ کے گھرانے اور فوجیوں سمیت چوری چوری کیوں دریائے یردن کے مغربی کنارے تک پہنچایا؟ یہ ٹھیک نہیں ہے۔“

And, behold, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said unto the king, Why have our brethren the men of Judah stolen thee away, and have brought the king, and his household, and all David's men with him, over Jordan?

یہوداہ کے مردوں نے جواب دیا، ”بات یہ ہے کہ ہم بادشاہ کے قریبی رشتے دار ہیں۔ آپ کو یہ دیکھ کر غصہ کیوں آ گیا ہے؟ نہ ہم نے بادشاہ کا کھانا کھایا، نہ اُس سے کوئی تحفہ پایا ہے۔“

And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king is near of kin to us: wherefore then be ye angry for this matter? have we eaten at all of the king's cost? or hath he given us any gift?

توبھی اسرائیل کے مردوں نے اعتراض کیا، ”ہمارے دس قبیلے ہیں، اِس لئے ہمارا بادشاہ کی خدمت کرنے کا دس گُنا زیادہ حق ہے۔ تو پھر آپ ہمیں حقیر کیوں جانتے ہیں؟ ہم نے تو پہلے اپنے بادشاہ کو واپس لانے کی بات کی تھی۔“ یوں بحث مباحثہ جاری رہا، لیکن یہوداہ کے مردوں کی باتیں زیادہ سخت تھیں۔

And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more right in David than ye: why then did ye despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king? And the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.
