II Kings 16

I Pekahs, Remaljas sønns syttende år blev Akas, sønn av Judas konge Jotam, konge.

In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.

Akas var tyve år gammel da han blev konge, og han regjerte seksten år i Jerusalem. Han gjorde ikke hvad rett var i Herrens, hans Guds øine som hans far David,

Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD his God, like David his father.

men vandret på Israels kongers vei, ja, han lot endog sin sønn gå gjennem ilden efter de vederstyggelige skikker hos de folk som Herren hadde drevet bort for Israels barn,

But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel.

og han ofret og brente røkelse på haugene og bakkene og under hvert grønt tre.

And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

På den tid drog kongen i Syria Resin og Israels konge Pekah, Remaljas sønn, op for å angripe Jerusalem; og de kringsatte Akas, men de kunde ikke komme til å gjøre noget angrep

Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.

På den tid la kongen i Syria Resin Elat til Syria; han drev jødene bort fra Elat, og syrerne kom til Elat og bosatte sig der og bor der den dag idag.

At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drave the Jews from Elath: and the Syrians came to Elath, and dwelt there unto this day.

Da sendte Akas bud til kongen i Assyria Tiglat-Pileser og lot si: Jeg er din tjener og din sønn; kom og frels mig fra Syrias konge og Israels konge, som har overfalt mig!

So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath–pileser king of Assyria, saying, I am thy servant and thy son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, which rise up against me.

Og Akas tok det sølv og gull som fantes i Herrens hus og i skattkammerne i kongens hus, og sendte det som gave til kongen i Assyria.

And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.

Og kongen i Assyria gjorde som han bad; han drog op og inntok Damaskus og bortførte innbyggerne til Kir og drepte Resin.

And the king of Assyria hearkened unto him: for the king of Assyria went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried the people of it captive to Kir, and slew Rezin.

Da drog kong Akas til Damaskus for å møte kongen i Assyria Tiglat-Pileser, og da han så alteret i Damaskus, sendte han en tegning av alteret og et billede av det til presten Uria, aldeles som det var gjort.

And king Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath–pileser king of Assyria, and saw an altar that was at Damascus: and king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship thereof.

Og presten Uria bygget alteret; aldeles efter det billede som kong Akas hadde sendt fra Damaskus, gjorde presten Uria alteret, innen kong Akas kom tilbake fra Damaskus.

And Urijah the priest built an altar according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus: so Urijah the priest made it against king Ahaz came from Damascus.

Da kongen kom tilbake fra Damaskus og så alteret, gikk han frem til det og ofret på det.

And when the king was come from Damascus, the king saw the altar: and the king approached to the altar, and offered thereon.

Og han brente sitt brennoffer og sitt matoffer og helte ut sitt drikkoffer, og han sprengte blodet av sitt takkoffer på alteret.

And he burnt his burnt offering and his meat offering, and poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings, upon the altar.

Men kobberalteret, som stod for Herrens åsyn, flyttet han bort fra huset, fra dets sted mellem det nye alter og Herrens hus, og satte det på nordsiden av det nye alter.

And he brought also the brasen altar, which was before the LORD, from the forefront of the house, from between the altar and the house of the LORD, and put it on the north side of the altar.

Og kong Akas bød presten Uria: På det store alter skal du brenne morgen-brennofferet og aften-matofferet og kongens brennoffer og hans matoffer og brennofferet for alt folket i landet og deres matoffer og deres drikkoffer, og alt blodet av brennofferne og av slaktofferne skal du sprenge på det; men kobberalteret vil jeg ha til å holde bønn ved.

And king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meat offering, and the king's burnt sacrifice, and his meat offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: and the brasen altar shall be for me to enquire by.

Og presten Uria gjorde aldeles som kong Akas hadde befalt.

Thus did Urijah the priest, according to all that king Ahaz commanded.

Kong Akas skar også fyllingene ut av fotstykkene og tok karene ned av dem, og han tok havet ned av kobberoksene som stod under det, og satte det på et underlag av sten.

And king Ahaz cut off the borders of the bases, and removed the laver from off them; and took down the sea from off the brasen oxen that were under it, and put it upon a pavement of stones.

Og den dekkede sabbatsgang som de hadde bygget ved huset, og kongens ytre inngang la han inn i Herrens hus for den assyriske konges skyld.

And the covert for the sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king's entry without, turned he from the house of the LORD for the king of Assyria.

Hvad som ellers er å fortelle om Akas, om det han gjorde, det er opskrevet i Judas kongers krønike.

Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

Og Akas la sig til hvile hos sine fedre og blev begravet hos sine fedre i Davids stad, og hans sønn Esekias blev konge i hans sted.

And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.
