Ruth 4

Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.

بوعز شہر کے دروازے کے پاس جا کر بیٹھ گیا جہاں بزرگ فیصلے کیا کرتے تھے۔ کچھ دیر کے بعد وہ رشتے دار وہاں سے گزرا جس کا ذکر بوعز نے روت سے کیا تھا۔ بوعز اُس سے مخاطب ہوا، ”دوست، اِدھر آئیں۔ میرے پاس بیٹھ جائیں۔“ رشتے دار اُس کے پاس بیٹھ گیا

And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down.

تو بوعز نے شہر کے دس بزرگوں کو بھی ساتھ بٹھایا۔

And he said unto the kinsman, Naomi, that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech's:

پھر اُس نے رشتے دار سے بات کی، ”نعومی ملکِ موآب سے واپس آ کر اپنے شوہر اِلی مَلِک کی زمین فروخت کرنا چاہتی ہے۔

And I thought to advertise thee, saying, Buy it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it: but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know: for there is none to redeem it beside thee; and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it.

یہ زمین ہمارے خاندان کا موروثی حصہ ہے، اِس لئے مَیں نے مناسب سمجھا کہ آپ کو اطلاع دوں تاکہ آپ یہ زمین خرید لیں۔ بیت لحم کے بزرگ اور ساتھ بیٹھے راہنما اِس کے گواہ ہوں گے۔ لازم ہے کہ یہ زمین ہمارے خاندان کا حصہ رہے، اِس لئے بتائیں کہ کیا آپ اِسے خرید کر چھڑائیں گے؟ آپ کا سب سے قریبی رشتہ ہے، اِس لئے یہ آپ ہی کا حق ہے۔ اگر آپ زمین خریدنا نہ چاہیں تو یہ میرا حق بنے گا۔“ رشتے دار نے جواب دیا، ”ٹھیک ہے، مَیں اِسے خرید کر چھڑاؤں گا۔“

Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.

پھر بوعز بولا، ”اگر آپ نعومی سے زمین خریدیں تو آپ کو اُس کی موآبی بہو روت سے شادی کرنی پڑے گی تاکہ مرحوم شوہر کی جگہ اولاد پیدا کریں جو اُس کا نام رکھ کر یہ زمین سنبھالیں۔“

And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; for I cannot redeem it.

یہ سن کر رشتے دار نے کہا، ”پھر مَیں اِسے خریدنا نہیں چاہتا، کیونکہ ایسا کرنے سے میری موروثی زمین کو نقصان پہنچے گا۔ آپ ہی اِسے خرید کر چھڑائیں۔“

Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for to confirm all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel.

اُس زمانے میں اگر ایسے کسی معاملے میں کوئی زمین خریدنے کا اپنا حق کسی دوسرے کو منتقل کرنا چاہتا تھا تو وہ اپنی چپل اُتار کر اُسے دے دیتا تھا۔ اِس طریقے سے فیصلہ قانونی طور پر طے ہو جاتا تھا۔

Therefore the kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy it for thee. So he drew off his shoe.

چنانچہ روت کے زیادہ قریبی رشتے دار نے اپنی چپل اُتار کر بوعز کو دے دی اور کہا، ”آپ ہی زمین کو خرید لیں۔“

And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of Naomi.

تب بوعز نے بزرگوں اور باقی لوگوں کے سامنے اعلان کیا، ”آج آپ گواہ ہیں کہ مَیں نے نعومی سے سب کچھ خرید لیا ہے جو اُس کے مرحوم شوہر اِلی مَلِک اور اُس کے دو بیٹوں کلیون اور محلون کا تھا۔

Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.

ساتھ ہی مَیں نے محلون کی بیوہ موآبی عورت روت سے شادی کرنے کا وعدہ کیا ہے تاکہ محلون کے نام سے بیٹا پیدا ہو۔ یوں مرحوم کی موروثی زمین خاندان سے چھن نہیں جائے گی، اور اُس کا نام ہمارے خاندان اور بیت لحم کے باشندوں میں قائم رہے گا۔ آج آپ سب گواہ ہیں!“

And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Beth–lehem:

بزرگوں اور شہر کے دروازے پر بیٹھے دیگر مردوں نے اِس کی تصدیق کی، ”ہم گواہ ہیں! رب آپ کے گھر میں آنے والی اِس عورت کو اُن برکتوں سے نوازے جن سے اُس نے راخل اور لیاہ کو نوازا، جن سے تمام اسرائیلی نکلے۔ رب کرے کہ آپ کی دولت اور عزت اِفراتہ یعنی بیت لحم میں بڑھتی جائے۔

And let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which the LORD shall give thee of this young woman.

وہ آپ اور آپ کی بیوی کو اُتنی اولاد بخشے جتنی تمر اور یہوداہ کے بیٹے فارص کے خاندان کو بخشی تھی۔“

So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son.

چنانچہ روت بوعز کی بیوی بن گئی۔ اور رب کی مرضی سے روت شادی کے بعد حاملہ ہوئی۔ جب اُس کے بیٹا ہوا

And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.

تو بیت لحم کی عورتوں نے نعومی سے کہا، ”رب کی تمجید ہو! آپ کو یہ بچہ عطا کرنے سے اُس نے ایسا شخص مہیا کیا ہے جو آپ کا خاندان سنبھالے گا۔ اللہ کرے کہ اُس کی شہرت پورے اسرائیل میں پھیل جائے۔

And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him.

اُس سے آپ تازہ دم ہو جائیں گی، اور بُڑھاپے میں وہ آپ کو سہارا دے گا۔ کیونکہ آپ کی بہو جو آپ کو پیار کرتی ہے اور جس کی قدر و قیمت سات بیٹوں سے بڑھ کر ہے اُسی نے اُسے جنم دیا ہے!“

And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it.

نعومی بچے کو اپنی گود میں بٹھا کر اُسے پالنے لگی۔

And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

پڑوسی عورتوں نے اُس کا نام عوبید یعنی خدمت کرنے والا رکھا۔ اُنہوں نے کہا، ”نعومی کے ہاں بیٹا پیدا ہوا ہے!“ عوبید داؤد بادشاہ کے باپ یسّی کا باپ تھا۔

Now these are the generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron,

ذیل میں فارص کا داؤد تک نسب نامہ ہے: فارص، حصرون،

And Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab,

رام، عمی نداب،

And Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon,

نحسون، سلمون،

And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,

بوعز، عوبید،

And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.

یسّی اور داؤد۔
