Judges 16

Then went Samson to Gaza, and saw there an harlot, and went in unto her.

ایک دن سمسون فلستی شہر غزہ میں آیا۔ وہاں وہ ایک کسبی کو دیکھ کر اُس کے گھر میں داخل ہوا۔

And it was told the Gazites, saying, Samson is come hither. And they compassed him in, and laid wait for him all night in the gate of the city, and were quiet all the night, saying, In the morning, when it is day, we shall kill him.

جب شہر کے باشندوں کو اطلاع ملی کہ سمسون شہر میں ہے تو اُنہوں نے کسبی کے گھر کو گھیر لیا۔ ساتھ ساتھ وہ رات کے وقت شہر کے دروازے پر تاک میں رہے۔ فیصلہ یہ ہوا، ”رات کے وقت ہم کچھ نہیں کریں گے، جب پَو پھٹے گی تب اُسے مار ڈالیں گے۔“

And Samson lay till midnight, and arose at midnight, and took the doors of the gate of the city, and the two posts, and went away with them, bar and all, and put them upon his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of an hill that is before Hebron.

سمسون اب تک کسبی کے گھر میں سو رہا تھا۔ لیکن آدھی رات کو وہ اُٹھ کر شہر کے دروازے کے پاس گیا اور دونوں کواڑوں کو کنڈے اور دروازے کے دونوں بازوؤں سمیت اُکھاڑ کر اپنے کندھوں پر رکھ لیا۔ یوں چلتے چلتے وہ سب کچھ اُس پہاڑی کی چوٹی پر لے گیا جو حبرون کے مقابل ہے۔

And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.

کچھ دیر کے بعد سمسون ایک عورت کی محبت میں گرفتار ہو گیا جو وادیِ سورق میں رہتی تھی۔ اُس کا نام دلیلہ تھا۔

And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him: and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.

یہ سن کر فلستی سردار اُس کے پاس آئے اور کہنے لگے، ”سمسون کو اُکسائیں کہ وہ آپ کو اپنی بڑی طاقت کا بھید بتائے۔ ہم جاننا چاہتے ہیں کہ ہم کس طرح اُس پر غالب آ کر اُسے یوں باندھ سکیں کہ وہ ہمارے قبضے میں رہے۔ اگر آپ یہ معلوم کر سکیں تو ہم میں سے ہر ایک آپ کو چاندی کے 1,100 سِکے دے گا۔“

And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee.

چنانچہ دلیلہ نے سمسون سے سوال کیا، ”مجھے اپنی بڑی طاقت کا بھید بتائیں۔ کیا آپ کو کسی ایسی چیز سے باندھا جا سکتا ہے جسے آپ توڑ نہیں سکتے؟“

And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.

سمسون نے جواب دیا، ”اگر مجھے جانوروں کی سات تازہ نسوں سے باندھا جائے تو پھر مَیں عام آدمی جیسا کمزور ہو جاؤں گا۔“

Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withs which had not been dried, and she bound him with them.

فلستی سرداروں نے دلیلہ کو سات تازہ نسیں مہیا کر دیں، اور اُس نے سمسون کو اُن سے باندھ لیا۔

Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withs, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known.

کچھ فلستی آدمی ساتھ والے کمرے میں چھپ گئے۔ پھر دلیلہ چلّا اُٹھی، ”سمسون، فلستی آپ کو پکڑنے آئے ہیں!“ یہ سن کر سمسون نے نسوں کو یوں توڑ دیا جس طرح ڈوری ٹوٹ جاتی ہے جب آگ میں سے گزرتی ہے۔ چنانچہ اُس کی طاقت کا پول نہ کھلا۔

And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound.

دلیلہ کا منہ لٹک گیا۔ ”آپ نے جھوٹ بول کر مجھے بےوقوف بنایا ہے۔ اب آئیں، مہربانی کر کے مجھے بتائیں کہ آپ کو کس طرح باندھا جا سکتا ہے۔“

And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.

سمسون نے جواب دیا، ”اگر مجھے غیراستعمال شدہ رسّوں سے باندھا جائے تو پھر ہی مَیں عام آدمی جیسا کمزور ہو جاؤں گا۔“

Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he brake them from off his arms like a thread.

دلیلہ نے نئے رسّے لے کر اُسے اُن سے باندھ لیا۔ اِس مرتبہ بھی فلستی ساتھ والے کمرے میں چھپ گئے تھے۔ پھر دلیلہ چلّا اُٹھی، ”سمسون، فلستی آپ کو پکڑنے آئے ہیں!“ لیکن اِس بار بھی سمسون نے رسّوں کو یوں توڑ لیا جس طرح عام آدمی ڈوری کو توڑ لیتا ہے۔

And Delilah said unto Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound. And he said unto her, If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web.

دلیلہ نے شکایت کی، ”آپ بار بار جھوٹ بول کر میرا مذاق اُڑا رہے ہیں۔ اب مجھے بتائیں کہ آپ کو کس طرح باندھا جا سکتا ہے۔“ سمسون نے جواب دیا، ”لازم ہے کہ آپ میری سات زُلفوں کو کھڈی کے تانے کے ساتھ بُنیں۔ پھر ہی عام آدمی جیسا کمزور ہو جاؤں گا۔“

And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin of the beam, and with the web.

جب سمسون سو رہا تھا تو دلیلہ نے ایسا ہی کیا۔ اُس کی سات زُلفوں کو تانے کے ساتھ بُن کر اُس نے اُسے شٹل کے ذریعے کھڈی کے ساتھ لگایا۔ پھر وہ چلّا اُٹھی، ”سمسون، فلستی آپ کو پکڑنے آئے ہیں!“ سمسون جاگ اُٹھا اور اپنے بالوں کو شٹل سمیت کھڈی سے نکال لیا۔

And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth.

یہ دیکھ کر دلیلہ نے منہ پُھلا کر ملامت کی، ”آپ کس طرح دعویٰ کر سکتے ہیں کہ مجھ سے محبت رکھتے ہیں؟ اب آپ نے تین مرتبہ میرا مذاق اُڑا کر مجھے اپنی بڑی طاقت کا بھید نہیں بتایا۔“

And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death;

روز بہ روز وہ اپنی باتوں سے اُس کی ناک میں دم کرتی رہی۔ آخرکار سمسون اِتنا تنگ آ گیا کہ اُس کا جینا دوبھر ہو گیا۔

That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother's womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.

پھر اُس نے اُسے کھل کر بات بتائی، ”مَیں پیدائش ہی سے اللہ کے لئے مخصوص ہوں، اِس لئے میرے بالوں کو کبھی نہیں کاٹا گیا۔ اگر سر کو منڈوایا جائے تو میری طاقت جاتی رہے گی اور مَیں ہر دوسرے آدمی جیسا کمزور ہو جاؤں گا۔“

And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand.

دلیلہ نے جان لیا کہ اب سمسون نے مجھے پوری حقیقت بتائی ہے۔ اُس نے فلستی سرداروں کو اطلاع دی، ”آؤ، کیونکہ اِس مرتبہ اُس نے مجھے اپنے دل کی ہر بات بتائی ہے۔“ یہ سن کر وہ مقررہ چاندی اپنے ساتھ لے کر دلیلہ کے پاس آئے۔

And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.

دلیلہ نے سمسون کا سر اپنی گود میں رکھ کر اُسے سُلا دیا۔ پھر اُس نے ایک آدمی کو بُلا کر سمسون کی سات زُلفوں کو منڈوایا۔ یوں وہ اُسے پست کرنے لگی، اور اُس کی طاقت جاتی رہی۔

And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.

پھر وہ چلّا اُٹھی، ”سمسون، فلستی آپ کو پکڑنے آئے ہیں!“ سمسون جاگ اُٹھا اور سوچا، ”مَیں پہلے کی طرح اب بھی اپنے آپ کو بچا کر بندھن کو توڑ دوں گا۔“ افسوس، اُسے معلوم نہیں تھا کہ رب نے اُسے چھوڑ دیا ہے۔

But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.

فلستیوں نے اُسے پکڑ کر اُس کی آنکھیں نکال دیں۔ پھر وہ اُسے غزہ لے گئے جہاں اُسے پیتل کی زنجیروں سے باندھا گیا۔ وہاں وہ قیدخانے کی چکّی پیسا کرتا تھا۔

Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven.

لیکن ہوتے ہوتے اُس کے بال دوبارہ بڑھنے لگے۔

Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand.

ایک دن فلستی سردار بڑا جشن منانے کے لئے جمع ہوئے۔ اُنہوں نے اپنے دیوتا دجون کو جانوروں کی بہت سی قربانیاں پیش کر کے اپنی فتح کی خوشی منائی۔ وہ بولے، ”ہمارے دیوتا نے ہمارے دشمن سمسون کو ہمارے حوالے کر دیا ہے۔“

And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country, which slew many of us.

سمسون کو دیکھ کر عوام نے دجون کی تمجید کر کے کہا، ”ہمارے دیوتا نے ہمارے دشمن کو ہمارے حوالے کر دیا ہے! جس نے ہمارے ملک کو تباہ کیا اور ہم میں سے اِتنے لوگوں کو مار ڈالا وہ اب ہمارے قابو میں آ گیا ہے!“

And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars.

اِس قسم کی باتیں کرتے کرتے اُن کی خوشی کی انتہا نہ رہی۔ تب وہ چلّانے لگے، ”سمسون کو بُلاؤ تاکہ وہ ہمارے دلوں کو بہلائے۔“ چنانچہ اُسے اُن کی تفریح کے لئے جیل سے لایا گیا اور دو ستونوں کے درمیان کھڑا کر دیا گیا۔

And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them.

سمسون اُس لڑکے سے مخاطب ہوا جو اُس کا ہاتھ پکڑ کر اُس کی راہنمائی کر رہا تھا، ”مجھے چھت کو اُٹھانے والے ستونوں کے پاس لے جاؤ تاکہ مَیں اُن کا سہارا لوں۔“

Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport.

عمارت مردوں اور عورتوں سے بھری تھی۔ فلستی سردار بھی سب آئے ہوئے تھے۔ صرف چھت پر سمسون کا تماشا دیکھنے والے تقریباً 3,000 افراد تھے۔

And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.

پھر سمسون نے دعا کی، ”اے رب قادرِ مطلق، مجھے یاد کر۔ بس ایک دفعہ اَور مجھے پہلے کی طرح قوت عطا فرما تاکہ مَیں ایک ہی وار سے فلستیوں سے اپنی آنکھوں کا بدلہ لے سکوں۔“

And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left.

یہ کہہ کر سمسون نے اُن دو مرکزی ستونوں کو پکڑ لیا جن پر چھت کا پورا وزن تھا۔ اُن کے درمیان کھڑے ہو کر اُس نے پوری طاقت سے زور لگایا

And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.

اور دعا کی، ”مجھے فلستیوں کے ساتھ مرنے دے!“ اچانک ستون ہل گئے اور چھت دھڑام سے فلستیوں کے تمام سرداروں اور باقی لوگوں پر گر گئی۔ اِس طرح سمسون نے پہلے کی نسبت مرتے وقت کہیں زیادہ فلستیوں کو مار ڈالا۔

Then his brethren and all the house of his father came down, and took him, and brought him up, and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the buryingplace of Manoah his father. And he judged Israel twenty years.

سمسون کے بھائی اور باقی گھر والے آئے اور اُس کی لاش کو اُٹھا کر اُس کے باپ منوحہ کی قبر کے پاس لے گئے۔ وہاں یعنی صُرعہ اور اِستال کے درمیان اُنہوں نے اُسے دفنایا۔ سمسون 20 سال اسرائیل کا قاضی رہا۔
