Jeremiah 19

Thus saith the LORD, Go and get a potter's earthen bottle, and take of the ancients of the people, and of the ancients of the priests;

رب نے حکم دیا، ”کمہار کے پاس جا کر مٹی کا برتن خرید لے۔ پھر عوام کے کچھ بزرگوں اور چند ایک بزرگ اماموں کو اپنے ساتھ لے کر

And go forth unto the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the east gate, and proclaim there the words that I shall tell thee,

شہر سے نکل جا۔ وادیِ بن ہنوم میں چلا جا جو شہر کے دروازے بنام ’ٹھیکرے کا دروازہ‘ کے سامنے ہے۔ وہاں وہ کلام سنا جو مَیں تجھے سنانے کو کہوں گا۔

And say, Hear ye the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem; Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, the which whosoever heareth, his ears shall tingle.

اُنہیں بتا، ’اے یہوداہ کے بادشاہو اور یروشلم کے باشندو، رب کا کلام سنو! رب الافواج جو اسرائیل کا خدا ہے فرماتا ہے کہ مَیں اِس مقام پر ایسی آفت نازل کروں گا کہ جسے بھی اِس کی خبر ملے گی اُس کے کان بجیں گے۔

Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have burned incense in it unto other gods, whom neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the blood of innocents;

کیونکہ اُنہوں نے مجھے ترک کر کے اِس مقام کو اجنبی معبودوں کے حوالے کر دیا ہے۔ جن بُتوں سے نہ اُن کے باپ دادا اور نہ یہوداہ کے بادشاہ کبھی واقف تھے اُن کے حضور اُنہوں نے قربانیاں پیش کیں۔ نیز، اُنہوں نے اِس جگہ کو بےقصوروں کے خون سے بھر دیا ہے۔

They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind:

اُنہوں نے اونچی جگہوں پر بعل دیوتا کے لئے قربان گاہیں تعمیر کیں تاکہ اپنے بیٹوں کو اُن پر جلا کر اُسے پیش کریں۔ مَیں نے یہ کرنے کا کبھی حکم نہیں دیا تھا۔ نہ مَیں نے کبھی اِس کا ذکر کیا، نہ کبھی میرے ذہن میں اِس کا خیال تک آیا۔

Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that this place shall no more be called Tophet, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of slaughter.

چنانچہ خبردار! رب فرماتا ہے کہ ایسا وقت آنے والا ہے جب یہ وادی ”توفت“ یا ”بن ہنوم“ نہیں کہلائے گی بلکہ ”وادیِ قتل و غارت۔“

And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hands of them that seek their lives: and their carcases will I give to be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.

اِس جگہ مَیں یہوداہ اور یروشلم کے منصوبے خاک میں ملا دوں گا۔ مَیں ہونے دوں گا کہ اُن کے دشمن اُنہیں موت کے گھاٹ اُتاریں، کہ جو اُنہیں جان سے مارنا چاہیں وہ اِس میں کامیاب ہو جائیں۔ تب مَیں اُن کی لاشوں کو پرندوں اور درندوں کو کھلا دوں گا۔

And I will make this city desolate, and an hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues thereof.

مَیں اِس شہر کو ہول ناک طریقے سے تباہ کروں گا۔ تب دوسرے اُسے اپنے مذاق کا نشانہ بنائیں گے۔ جو بھی گزرے اُس کے رونگٹے کھڑے ہو جائیں گے۔ اُس کی تباہ شدہ حالت دیکھ کر وہ ”توبہ توبہ“ کہے گا۔

And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend in the siege and straitness, wherewith their enemies, and they that seek their lives, shall straiten them.

جب اُن کا جانی دشمن شہر کا محاصرہ کرے گا تو اِتنا سخت کال پڑے گا کہ باشندے اپنے بچوں اور ایک دوسرے کو کھا جائیں گے۔‘

Then shalt thou break the bottle in the sight of the men that go with thee,

پھر ساتھ والوں کی موجودگی میں مٹی کے برتن کو زمین پر پٹخ دے۔

And shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaketh a potter's vessel, that cannot be made whole again: and they shall bury them in Tophet, till there be no place to bury.

ساتھ ساتھ اُنہیں بتا، ’رب الافواج فرماتا ہے کہ جس طرح مٹی کا برتن پاش پاش ہو گیا ہے اور اُس کی مرمت ناممکن ہے اُسی طرح مَیں اِس قوم اور شہر کو بھی پاش پاش کر دوں گا۔ اُس وقت لاشوں کو توفت میں دفنایا جائے گا، کیونکہ کہیں اَور جگہ نہیں ملے گی۔

Thus will I do unto this place, saith the LORD, and to the inhabitants thereof, and even make this city as Tophet:

اِس شہر اور اِس کے باشندوں کے ساتھ مَیں یہی سلوک کروں گا۔ مَیں اِس شہر کو توفت کی مانند بنا دوں گا۔ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

And the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, shall be defiled as the place of Tophet, because of all the houses upon whose roofs they have burned incense unto all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink offerings unto other gods.

یروشلم کے گھر یہوداہ کے شاہی محلوں سمیت توفت کی طرح ناپاک ہو جائیں گے۔ ہاں، وہ تمام گھر ناپاک ہو جائیں گے جن کی چھتوں پر تمام آسمانی لشکر کے لئے بخور جلایا جاتا اور اجنبی معبودوں کو مَے کی نذریں پیش کی جاتی تھیں‘۔“

Then came Jeremiah from Tophet, whither the LORD had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of the LORD'S house; and said to all the people,

اِس کے بعد یرمیاہ وادیِ توفت سے واپس آیا جہاں رب نے اُسے نبوّت کرنے کے لئے بھیجا تھا۔ پھر وہ رب کے گھر کے صحن میں کھڑے ہو کر تمام لوگوں سے مخاطب ہوا،

Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon all her towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have hardened their necks, that they might not hear my words.

”رب الافواج جو اسرائیل کا خدا ہے فرماتا ہے کہ سنو! مَیں اِس شہر اور یہوداہ کے دیگر شہروں پر وہ تمام مصیبت لانے کو ہوں جس کا اعلان مَیں نے کیا ہے۔ کیونکہ تم اَڑ گئے ہو اور میری باتیں سننے کے لئے تیار ہی نہیں۔“
