Isaiah 6

In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

جس سال عُزیّاہ بادشاہ نے وفات پائی اُس سال مَیں نے رب کو اعلیٰ اور جلالی تخت پر بیٹھے دیکھا۔ اُس کے لباس کے دامن سے رب کا گھر بھر گیا۔

Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

سرافیم فرشتے اُس کے اوپر کھڑے تھے۔ ہر ایک کے چھ پَر تھے۔ دو سے وہ اپنے منہ کو اور دو سے اپنے پاؤں کو ڈھانپ لیتے تھے جبکہ دو سے وہ اُڑتے تھے۔

And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

بلند آواز سے وہ ایک دوسرے کو پکار رہے تھے، ”قدوس، قدوس، قدوس ہے رب الافواج۔ تمام دنیا اُس کے جلال سے معمور ہے۔“

And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

اُن کی آوازوں سے دہلیزیں ہل گئیں اور رب کا گھر دھوئیں سے بھر گیا۔

Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

مَیں چلّا اُٹھا، ”مجھ پر افسوس، مَیں برباد ہو گیا ہوں! کیونکہ گو میرے ہونٹ ناپاک ہیں، اور جس قوم کے درمیان رہتا ہوں اُس کے ہونٹ بھی نجس ہیں توبھی مَیں نے اپنی آنکھوں سے بادشاہ رب الافواج کو دیکھا ہے۔“

Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:

تب سرافیم فرشتوں میں سے ایک اُڑتا ہوا میرے پاس آیا۔ اُس کے ہاتھ میں دمکتا کوئلہ تھا جو اُس نے چمٹے سے قربان گاہ سے لیا تھا۔

And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

اِس سے اُس نے میرے منہ کو چھو کر فرمایا، ”دیکھ، کوئلے نے تیرے ہونٹوں کو چھو دیا ہے۔ اب تیرا قصور دُور ہو گیا، تیرے گناہ کا کفارہ دیا گیا ہے۔“

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

پھر مَیں نے رب کی آواز سنی۔ اُس نے پوچھا، ”مَیں کس کو بھیجوں؟ کون ہماری طرف سے جائے؟“ مَیں بولا، ”مَیں حاضر ہوں۔ مجھے ہی بھیج دے۔“

And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.

تب رب نے فرمایا، ”جا، اِس قوم کو بتا، ’اپنے کانوں سے سنو مگر کچھ نہ سمجھنا۔ اپنی آنکھوں سے دیکھو، مگر کچھ نہ جاننا!‘

Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.

اِس قوم کے دل کو بےحس کر دے، اُن کے کانوں اور آنکھوں کو بند کر۔ ایسا نہ ہو کہ وہ اپنی آنکھوں سے دیکھیں، اپنے کانوں سے سنیں، میری طرف رجوع کریں اور شفا پائیں۔“

Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,

مَیں نے سوال کیا، ”اے رب، کب تک؟“ اُس نے جواب دیا، ”اُس وقت تک کہ ملک کے شہر ویران و سنسان، اُس کے گھر غیرآباد اور اُس کے کھیت بنجر نہ ہوں۔

And the LORD have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land.

پہلے لازم ہے کہ رب لوگوں کو دُور دُور تک بھگا دے، کہ پورا ملک تن تنہا اور بےکس رہ جائے۔

But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof.

اگر قوم کا دسواں حصہ ملک میں باقی بھی رہے لیکن اُسے بھی جلا دیا جائے گا۔ وہ کسی بلوط یا دیگر لمبے چوڑے درخت کی طرح یوں کٹ جائے گا کہ مُڈھ ہی باقی رہے گا۔ تاہم یہ مُڈھ ایک مُقدّس بیج ہو گا جس سے نئے سرے سے زندگی پھوٹ نکلے گی۔“
