Hebrews 8

Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;

جو کچھ ہم کہہ رہے ہیں اُس کی مرکزی بات یہ ہے، ہمارا ایک ایسا امامِ اعظم ہے جو آسمان پر جلالی خدا کے تخت کے دہنے ہاتھ بیٹھا ہے۔

A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.

وہاں وہ مقدِس میں خدمت کرتا ہے، اُس حقیقی ملاقات کے خیمے میں جسے انسانی ہاتھوں نے کھڑا نہیں کیا بلکہ رب نے۔

For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.

ہر امامِ اعظم کو نذرانے اور قربانیاں پیش کرنے کے لئے مقرر کیا جاتا ہے۔ اِس لئے لازم ہے کہ ہمارے امامِ اعظم کے پاس بھی کچھ ہو جو وہ پیش کر سکے۔

For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:

اگر یہ دنیا میں ہوتا تو امامِ اعظم نہ ہوتا، کیونکہ یہاں امام تو ہیں جو شریعت کے مطلوبہ نذرانے پیش کرتے ہیں۔

Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.

جس مقدِس میں وہ خدمت کرتے ہیں وہ اُس مقدِس کی صرف نقلی صورت اور سایہ ہے جو آسمان پر ہے۔ یہی وجہ ہے کہ اللہ نے موسیٰ کو ملاقات کا خیمہ بنانے سے پہلے آگاہ کر کے یہ کہا، ”غور کر کہ سب کچھ عین اُس نمونے کے مطابق بنایا جائے جو مَیں تجھے یہاں پہاڑ پر دکھاتا ہوں۔“

But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

لیکن جو خدمت عیسیٰ کو مل گئی ہے وہ دنیا کے اماموں کی خدمت سے کہیں بہتر ہے، اُتنی بہتر جتنا وہ عہد جس کا درمیانی عیسیٰ ہے پرانے عہد سے بہتر ہے۔ کیونکہ یہ عہد بہتر وعدوں کی بنیاد پر باندھا گیا۔

For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

اگر پہلا عہد بےالزام ہوتا تو پھر نئے عہد کی ضرورت نہ ہوتی۔

For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

لیکن اللہ کو اپنی قوم پر الزام لگانا پڑا۔ اُس نے کہا، ”رب کا فرمان ہے، ایسے دن آ رہے ہیں جب مَیں اسرائیل کے گھرانے اور یہوداہ کے گھرانے سے ایک نیا عہد باندھوں گا۔

Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

یہ اُس عہد کی مانند نہیں ہو گا جو مَیں نے اُن کے باپ دادا کے ساتھ اُس دن باندھا تھا جب مَیں اُن کا ہاتھ پکڑ کر اُنہیں مصر سے نکال لایا۔ کیونکہ وہ اُس عہد کے وفادار نہ رہے جو مَیں نے اُن سے باندھا تھا۔ نتیجے میں میری اُن کے لئے فکر نہ رہی۔

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

خداوند فرماتا ہے کہ جو نیا عہد مَیں اُن دنوں کے بعد اُن سے باندھوں گا اُس کے تحت مَیں اپنی شریعت اُن کے ذہنوں میں ڈال کر اُن کے دلوں پر کندہ کروں گا۔ تب مَیں ہی اُن کا خدا ہوں گا، اور وہ میری قوم ہوں گے۔

And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

اُس وقت سے اِس کی ضرورت نہیں رہے گی کہ کوئی اپنے پڑوسی یا بھائی کو تعلیم دے کر کہے، ’رب کو جان لو۔‘ کیونکہ چھوٹے سے لے کر بڑے تک سب مجھے جانیں گے،

For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

کیونکہ مَیں اُن کا قصور معاف کروں گا اور آئندہ اُن کے گناہوں کو یاد نہیں کروں گا۔“

In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

اِن الفاظ میں اللہ ایک نئے عہد کا ذکر کرتا ہے اور یوں پرانے عہد کو متروک قرار دیتا ہے۔ اور جو متروک اور پرانا ہے اُس کا انجام قریب ہی ہے۔
