II Chronicles 16

In the six and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah, and built Ramah, to the intent that he might let none go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

آسا کی حکومت کے 36ویں سال میں اسرائیل کے بادشاہ بعشا نے یہوداہ پر حملہ کر کے رامہ شہر کی قلعہ بندی کی۔ مقصد یہ تھا کہ نہ کوئی یہوداہ کے ملک میں داخل ہو سکے، نہ کوئی وہاں سے نکل سکے۔

Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of the LORD and of the king's house, and sent to Ben–hadad king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,

جواب میں آسا نے شام کے بادشاہ بن ہدد کے پاس وفد بھیجا جس کا دار الحکومت دمشق تھا۔ اُس نے رب کے گھر اور شاہی محل کے خزانوں کی سونا چاندی وفد کے سپرد کر کے دمشق کے بادشاہ کو پیغام بھیجا،

There is a league between me and thee, as there was between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent thee silver and gold; go, break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.

”میرا آپ کے ساتھ عہد ہے جس طرح میرے باپ کا آپ کے باپ کے ساتھ عہد تھا۔ گزارش ہے کہ آپ سونے چاندی کا یہ تحفہ قبول کر کے اسرائیل کے بادشاہ بعشا کے ساتھ اپنا عہد منسوخ کر دیں تاکہ وہ میرے ملک سے نکل جائے۔“

And Ben–hadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel; and they smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abel–maim, and all the store cities of Naphtali.

بن ہدد متفق ہوا۔ اُس نے اپنے فوجی افسروں کو اسرائیل کے شہروں پر حملہ کرنے کے لئے بھیج دیا تو اُنہوں نے عِیون، دان، ابیل مائم اور نفتالی کے اُن تمام شہروں پر قبضہ کر لیا جن میں شاہی گودام تھے۔

And it came to pass, when Baasha heard it, that he left off building of Ramah, and let his work cease.

جب بعشا کو اِس کی خبر ملی تو اُس نے رامہ کی قلعہ بندی کرنے سے باز آ کر اپنی یہ مہم چھوڑ دی۔

Then Asa the king took all Judah; and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha was building; and he built therewith Geba and Mizpah.

پھر آسا بادشاہ نے یہوداہ کے تمام مردوں کی بھرتی کر کے اُنہیں رامہ بھیج دیا تاکہ وہ اُن تمام پتھروں اور شہتیروں کو اُٹھا کر لے جائیں جن سے بعشا بادشاہ رامہ کی قلعہ بندی کرنا چاہتا تھا۔ اِس سامان سے آسا نے جِبع اور مِصفاہ شہروں کی قلعہ بندی کی۔

And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the LORD thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thine hand.

اُس وقت حنانی غیب بین یہوداہ کے بادشاہ آسا کو ملنے آیا۔ اُس نے کہا، ”افسوس کہ آپ نے رب اپنے خدا پر اعتماد نہ کیا بلکہ اَرام کے بادشاہ پر، کیونکہ اِس کا بُرا نتیجہ نکلا ہے۔ رب شام کے بادشاہ کی فوج کو آپ کے حوالے کرنے کے لئے تیار تھا، لیکن اب یہ موقع جاتا رہا ہے۔

Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubims a huge host, with very many chariots and horsemen? yet, because thou didst rely on the LORD, he delivered them into thine hand.

کیا آپ بھول گئے ہیں کہ ایتھوپیا اور لبیا کی کتنی بڑی فوج آپ سے لڑنے آئی تھی؟ اُن کے ساتھ کثرت کے رتھ اور گھڑسوار بھی تھے۔ لیکن اُس وقت آپ نے رب پر اعتماد کیا، اور جواب میں اُس نے اُنہیں آپ کے حوالے کر دیا۔

For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.

رب تو اپنی نظر پوری رُوئے زمین پر دوڑاتا رہتا ہے تاکہ اُن کی تقویت کرے جو پوری وفاداری سے اُس سے لپٹے رہتے ہیں۔ آپ کی احمقانہ حرکت کی وجہ سے آپ کو اب سے متواتر جنگیں تنگ کرتی رہیں گی۔“

Then Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in a prison house; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. And Asa oppressed some of the people the same time.

یہ سن کر آسا غصے سے لال پیلا ہو گیا۔ آپے سے باہر ہو کر اُس نے حکم دیا کہ نبی کو گرفتار کر کے اُس کے پاؤں کاٹھ میں ٹھونکو۔ اُس وقت سے آسا اپنی قوم کے کئی لوگوں پر ظلم کرنے لگا۔

And, behold, the acts of Asa, first and last, lo, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

باقی جو کچھ شروع سے لے کر آخر تک آسا کی حکومت کے دوران ہوا وہ ’شاہانِ یہوداہ و اسرائیل کی تاریخ‘ کی کتاب میں بیان کیا گیا ہے۔

And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians.

حکومت کے 39ویں سال میں اُس کے پاؤں کو بیماری لگ گئی۔ گو اُس کی بُری حالت تھی توبھی اُس نے رب کو تلاش نہ کیا بلکہ صرف ڈاکٹروں کے پیچھے پڑ گیا۔

And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign.

حکومت کے 41ویں سال میں آسا مر کر اپنے باپ دادا سے جا ملا۔

And they buried him in his own sepulchres, which he had made for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odours and divers kinds of spices prepared by the apothecaries' art: and they made a very great burning for him.

اُس نے یروشلم کے اُس حصے میں جو ’داؤد کا شہر‘ کہلاتا ہے اپنے لئے چٹان میں قبر تراشی تھی۔ اب اُسے اِس میں دفن کیا گیا۔ جنازے کے وقت لوگوں نے لاش کو ایک پلنگ پر لٹایا دیا جو بلسان کے تیل اور مختلف قسم کے خوشبودار مرہموں سے ڈھانپا گیا تھا۔ پھر اُس کے احترام میں لکڑی کا زبردست ڈھیر جلایا گیا۔
