Psalms 127

اگر خداوند خانه را بنا نکند، زحمت بنّایان بی‌فایده است. هرگاه خداوند از شهر نگهبانی نکند، مراقبت نگهبانان بیهوده است.

Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

فایده‌ای ندارد که از صبح زود تا شام برای به دست آوردن خوراک خود، این‌همه زحمت بکشید زیرا خداوند هنگامی‌که محبوبان او در خواب هستند، روزیِ آنها را آماده می‌کند.

It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

فرزندان، میراثی از جانب خداوند هستند و برکتی که خداوند به انسان عطا می‌کند.

Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

شخصی که در جوانی صاحب پسر می‌شود، فرزندانش مانند تیرهای تیز در دست سرباز هستند.

As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

خوشا به حال کسی‌که در ترکش خود از این تیرها فراوان دارد. آن شخص در دادگاه، هنگام مقابله با دشمن، هرگز شکست نخواهد خورد.

Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
