I Samuel 27

Тогава Давид си каза в сърцето си: Явно е, че някой ден ще загина от ръката на Саул. Няма по-добро за мен, отколкото по-скоро да избягам в земята на филистимците. Тогава Саул ще се откаже вече да ме търси по всичките области на Израил и ще се избавя от ръката му.

And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me any more in any coast of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand.

И Давид стана и отиде, той и шестстотинте мъже, които бяха с него, при гетския цар Анхус, сина на Маох.

And David arose, and he passed over with the six hundred men that were with him unto Achish, the son of Maoch, king of Gath.

И Давид остана при Анхус в Гет, той и мъжете му, всеки с дома си, и Давид с двете си жени, езраелката Ахиноама и кармилката Авигея, жената на Навал.

And David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, even David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal's wife.

А на Саул се каза, че Давид е избягал в Гет, затова той повече не го търсеше.

And it was told Saul that David was fled to Gath: and he sought no more again for him.

Тогава Давид каза на Анхус: Ако някак съм намерил благоволение пред теб, нека ми се даде място в един от полските градове, за да живея там. Понеже защо слугата ти да живее при теб в царския град?

And David said unto Achish, If I have now found grace in thine eyes, let them give me a place in some town in the country, that I may dwell there: for why should thy servant dwell in the royal city with thee?

И в онзи ден Анхус му даде Сиклаг. Затова Сиклаг принадлежи на юдовите царе и до днес.

Then Achish gave him Ziklag that day: wherefore Ziklag pertaineth unto the kings of Judah unto this day.

А времето, през което Давид живя във филистимските полета, беше една година и четири месеца.

And the time that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines was a full year and four months.

И Давид и мъжете му излязоха и нападнаха гесурците, гезерците и амаличаните; защото те от древността бяха жителите на земята, по пътя за Сур чак до египетската земя.

And David and his men went up, and invaded the Geshurites, and the Gezrites, and the Amalekites: for those nations were of old the inhabitants of the land, as thou goest to Shur, even unto the land of Egypt.

И Давид нападаше земята и не оставяше жив нито мъж, нито жена; и вземаше овцете, говедата, магаретата, камилите и дрехите; после се връщаше и идваше при Анхус.

And David smote the land, and left neither man nor woman alive, and took away the sheep, and the oxen, and the asses, and the camels, and the apparel, and returned, and came to Achish.

И Анхус казваше: Къде направихте нападение днес? А Давид казваше: В южната част на Юда. — или: В южната част на ерамеилците. — или: В южната част на кенейците.

And Achish said, Whither have ye made a road to day? And David said, Against the south of Judah, and against the south of the Jerahmeelites, and against the south of the Kenites.

Давид не оставяше живи нито мъж, нито жена, които да бъдат доведени в Гет, защото си казваше: Да не би да съобщят за нас и да кажат: Така направи Давид! Така правеше той през цялото време, когато живееше в земята на филистимците.

And David saved neither man nor woman alive, to bring tidings to Gath, saying, Lest they should tell on us, saying, So did David, and so will be his manner all the while he dwelleth in the country of the Philistines.

И Анхус повярва на Давид и си каза: Той наистина е станал омразен на народа си Израил и ще ми бъде слуга завинаги.

And Achish believed David, saying, He hath made his people Israel utterly to abhor him; therefore he shall be my servant for ever.
