Vua A-suê-ru bắt xứ và các cù lao của biển nộp thuế.

And the king Ahasuerus laid a tribute upon the land, and upon the isles of the sea.

Các công sự về quyền thế và năng lực người, cả sự cao trọng của Mạc-đô-chê, vua thăng chức người lên làm sao, thảy đều có chép vào sách sử ký các vua nước Mê-đi và Phe-rơ-sơ.

And all the acts of his power and of his might, and the declaration of the greatness of Mordecai, whereunto the king advanced him, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia?

Vì Mạc-đô-chê, người Giu-đa, làm tể tướng của vua A-suê-ru; trong vòng dân Giu-đa người được tôn trọng, đẹp lòng các anh em mình, tìm việc tốt lành cho dân tộc mình, và nói sự hòa bình cho cả dòng dõi mình.

For Mordecai the Jew was next unto king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed.
