Isaiah 51

”تم جو راستی کے پیچھے لگے رہتے، جو رب کے طالب ہو، میری بات سنو! اُس چٹان پر دھیان دو جس میں سے تمہیں تراش کر نکالا گیا ہے، اُس کان پر غور کرو جس میں سے تمہیں کھودا گیا ہے۔

Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.

یعنی اپنے باپ ابراہیم اور اپنی ماں سارہ پر توجہ دو، جس نے دردِ زہ کی تکلیف اُٹھا کر تمہیں جنم دیا۔ ابراہیم بےاولاد تھا جب مَیں نے اُسے بُلایا، لیکن پھر مَیں نے اُسے برکت دے کر بہت اولاد بخشی۔“

Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.

یقیناً رب صیون کو تسلی دے گا۔ وہ اُس کے تمام کھنڈرات کو تشفی دے کر اُس کے ریگستان کو باغِ عدن میں اور اُس کی بنجر زمین کو رب کے باغ میں بدل دے گا۔ تب اُس میں خوشی و شادمانی پائی جائے گی، ہر طرف شکرگزاری اور گیتوں کی آوازیں سنائی دیں گی۔

For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

”اے میری قوم، مجھ پر دھیان دے! اے میری اُمّت، مجھ پر غور کر! کیونکہ ہدایت مجھ سے صادر ہو گی، اور میرا انصاف قوموں کی روشنی بنے گا۔

Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people.

میری راستی قریب ہی ہے، میری نجات راستے میں ہے، اور میرا زورآور بازو قوموں میں انصاف قائم کرے گا۔ جزیرے مجھ سے اُمید رکھیں گے، وہ میری قدرت دیکھنے کے انتظار میں رہیں گے۔

My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.

اپنی آنکھیں آسمان کی طرف اُٹھاؤ! نیچے زمین پر نظر ڈالو! آسمان دھوئیں کی طرح بکھر جائے گا، زمین پرانے کپڑے کی طرح گھسے پھٹے گی اور اُس کے باشندے مچھروں کی طرح مر جائیں گے۔ لیکن میری نجات ابد تک قائم رہے گی، اور میری راستی کبھی ختم نہیں ہو گی۔

Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.

اے صحیح راہ کو جاننے والو، اے قوم جس کے دل میں میری شریعت ہے، میری بات سنو! جب لوگ تمہاری بےعزتی کرتے ہیں تو اُن سے مت ڈرنا، جب وہ تمہیں گالیاں دیتے ہیں تو مت گھبرانا۔

Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.

کیونکہ کِرم اُنہیں کپڑے کی طرح کھا جائے گا، کیڑا اُنہیں اُون کی طرح ہضم کرے گا۔ لیکن میری راستی ابد تک قائم رہے گی، میری نجات پشت در پشت برقرار رہے گی۔“

For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool: but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation from generation to generation.

اے رب کے بازو، اُٹھ! جاگ اُٹھ اور قوت کا جامہ پہن لے! یوں عمل میں آ جس طرح قدیم زمانے میں آیا تھا، جب تُو نے متعدد نسلوں پہلے رہب کو ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کر دیا، سمندری اژدہے کو چھید ڈالا۔

Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Art thou not it that hath cut Rahab, and wounded the dragon?

کیونکہ تُو ہی نے سمندر کو خشک کیا، تُو ہی نے گہرائیوں کی تہہ پر راستہ بنایا تاکہ وہ جنہیں تُو نے عوضانہ دے کر چھڑایا تھا اُس میں سے گزر سکیں۔

Art thou not it which hath dried the sea, the waters of the great deep; that hath made the depths of the sea a way for the ransomed to pass over?

جنہیں رب نے فدیہ دے کر چھڑایا ہے وہ واپس آئیں گے۔ وہ شادیانہ بجا کر صیون میں داخل ہوں گے، اور ہر ایک کا سر ابدی خوشی کے تاج سے آراستہ ہو گا۔ کیونکہ خوشی اور شادمانی اُن پر غالب آ کر تمام غم اور آہ و زاری بھگا دے گی۔

Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.

”مَیں، صرف مَیں ہی تجھے تسلی دیتا ہوں۔ تو پھر تُو فانی انسان سے کیوں ڈرتی ہے، جو گھاس کی طرح مُرجھا کر ختم ہو جاتا ہے؟

I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass;

تُو رب اپنے خالق کو کیوں بھول گئی ہے، جس نے آسمان کو خیمے کی طرح تان لیا اور زمین کی بنیاد رکھی؟ جب ظالم تجھے تباہ کرنے پر تُلا رہتا ہے تو تُو اُس کے طیش سے پورے دن کیوں خوف کھاتی رہتی ہے؟ اب اُس کا طیش کہاں رہا؟

And forgettest the LORD thy maker, that hath stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and hast feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy? and where is the fury of the oppressor?

جو زنجیروں میں جکڑا ہوا ہے وہ جلد ہی آزاد ہو جائے گا۔ نہ وہ مر کر قبر میں اُترے گا، نہ روٹی سے محروم رہے گا۔

The captive exile hasteneth that he may be loosed, and that he should not die in the pit, nor that his bread should fail.

کیونکہ مَیں رب تیرا خدا ہوں جو سمندر کو یوں حرکت میں لاتا ہے کہ وہ متلاطم ہو کر گرجنے لگتا ہے۔ رب الافواج میرا نام ہے۔

But I am the LORD thy God, that divided the sea, whose waves roared: The LORD of hosts is his name.

مَیں نے اپنے الفاظ تیرے منہ میں ڈال کر تجھے اپنے ہاتھ کے سائے میں چھپائے رکھا ہے تاکہ نئے سرے سے آسمان کو تانوں، زمین کی بنیادیں رکھوں اور صیون کو بتاؤں، ’تُو میری قوم ہے‘۔“

And I have put my words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people.

اے یروشلم، اُٹھ! جاگ اُٹھ! اے شہر جس نے رب کے ہاتھ سے اُس کا غضب بھرا پیالہ پی لیا ہے، کھڑی ہو جا! اب تُو نے لڑکھڑا دینے والے پیالے کو آخری قطرے تک چاٹ لیا ہے۔

Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, which hast drunk at the hand of the LORD the cup of his fury; thou hast drunken the dregs of the cup of trembling, and wrung them out.

جتنے بھی بیٹے تُو نے جنم دیئے اُن میں سے ایک بھی نہیں رہا جو تیری راہنمائی کرے۔ جتنے بھی بیٹے تُو نے پالے اُن میں سے ایک بھی نہیں جو تیرا ہاتھ پکڑ کر تیرے ساتھ چلے۔

There is none to guide her among all the sons whom she hath brought forth; neither is there any that taketh her by the hand of all the sons that she hath brought up.

تجھ پر دو آفتیں آئیں یعنی بربادی و تباہی، کال اور تلوار۔ لیکن کس نے ہم دردی کا اظہار کیا؟ کس نے تجھے تسلی دی؟

These two things are come unto thee; who shall be sorry for thee? desolation, and destruction, and the famine, and the sword: by whom shall I comfort thee?

تیرے بیٹے غش کھا کر گر گئے ہیں۔ ہر گلی میں وہ جال میں پھنسے ہوئے غزال کی طرح زمین پر تڑپ رہے ہیں۔ کیونکہ رب کا غضب اُن پر نازل ہوا ہے، وہ الٰہی ڈانٹ ڈپٹ کا نشانہ بن گئے ہیں۔

Thy sons have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, as a wild bull in a net: they are full of the fury of the LORD, the rebuke of thy God.

چنانچہ میری بات سن، اے مصیبت زدہ قوم، اے نشے میں متوالی اُمّت، گو تُو مَے کے اثر سے نہیں ڈگمگا رہی۔

Therefore hear now this, thou afflicted, and drunken, but not with wine:

رب تیرا آقا جو تیرا خدا ہے اور اپنی قوم کے لئے لڑتا ہے وہ فرماتا ہے، ”دیکھ، مَیں نے تیرے ہاتھ سے وہ پیالہ دُور کر دیا جو تیرے لڑکھڑانے کا سبب بنا۔ آئندہ تُو میرا غضب بھرا پیالہ نہیں پیئے گی۔

Thus saith thy Lord the LORD, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling, even the dregs of the cup of my fury; thou shalt no more drink it again:

اب مَیں اِسے اُن کو پکڑا دوں گا جنہوں نے تجھے اذیت پہنچائی ہے، جنہوں نے تجھ سے کہا، ’اوندھے منہ جھک جا تاکہ ہم تجھ پر سے گزریں۔‘ اُس وقت تیری پیٹھ خاک میں دھنس کر دوسروں کے لئے راستہ بن گئی تھی۔“

But I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee; which have said to thy soul, Bow down, that we may go over: and thou hast laid thy body as the ground, and as the street, to them that went over.
