اخی اب کی موت کے بعد موآب کا ملک باغی ہو کر اسرائیل کے تابع نہ رہا۔

Then Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab.

سامریہ کے شاہی محل کے بالاخانے کی ایک دیوار میں جنگلا لگا تھا۔ ایک دن اخزیاہ بادشاہ جنگلے کے ساتھ لگ گیا تو وہ ٹوٹ گیا اور بادشاہ زمین پر گر کر بہت زخمی ہوا۔ اُس نے قاصدوں کو فلستی شہر عقرون بھیج کر کہا، ”جا کر عقرون کے دیوتا بعل زبوب سے پتا کریں کہ میری صحت بحال ہو جائے گی کہ نہیں۔“

And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said unto them, Go, enquire of Baal–zebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease.

تب رب کے فرشتے نے الیاس تِشبی کو حکم دیا، ”اُٹھ، سامریہ کے بادشاہ کے قاصدوں سے ملنے جا۔ اُن سے پوچھ، ’آپ دریافت کرنے کے لئے عقرون کے دیوتا بعل زبوب کے پاس کیوں جا رہے ہیں؟ کیا اسرائیل میں کوئی خدا نہیں ہے؟

But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to enquire of Baal–zebub the god of Ekron?

چنانچہ رب فرماتا ہے کہ اے اخزیاہ، جس بستر پر تُو پڑا ہے اُس سے تُو کبھی نہیں اُٹھنے کا۔ تُو یقیناً مر جائے گا‘۔“ الیاس جا کر قاصدوں سے ملا۔

Now therefore thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And Elijah departed.

اُس کا پیغام سن کر قاصد بادشاہ کے پاس واپس گئے۔ اُس نے پوچھا، ”آپ اِتنی جلدی واپس کیوں آئے؟“

And when the messengers turned back unto him, he said unto them, Why are ye now turned back?

اُنہوں نے جواب دیا، ”ایک آدمی ہم سے ملنے آیا جس نے ہمیں آپ کے پاس واپس بھیج کر آپ کو یہ خبر پہنچانے کو کہا، ’رب فرماتا ہے کہ تُو اپنے بارے میں دریافت کرنے کے لئے اپنے بندوں کو عقرون کے دیوتا بعل زبوب کے پاس کیوں بھیج رہا ہے؟ کیا اسرائیل میں کوئی خدا نہیں ہے؟ چونکہ تُو نے یہ کیا ہے اِس لئے جس بستر پر تُو پڑا ہے اُس سے تُو کبھی نہیں اُٹھنے کا۔ تُو یقیناً مر جائے گا‘۔“

And they said unto him, There came a man up to meet us, and said unto us, Go, turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to enquire of Baal–zebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.

اخزیاہ نے پوچھا، ”یہ کس قسم کا آدمی تھا جس نے آپ سے مل کر آپ کو یہ بات بتائی؟“

And he said unto them, What manner of man was he which came up to meet you, and told you these words?

اُنہوں نے جواب دیا، ”اُس کے لمبے بال تھے، اور کمر میں چمڑے کی پیٹی بندھی ہوئی تھی۔“ بادشاہ بول اُٹھا، ”یہ تو الیاس تِشبی تھا!“

And they answered him, He was an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.

فوراً اُس نے ایک افسر کو 50 فوجیوں سمیت الیاس کے پاس بھیج دیا۔ جب فوجی الیاس کے پاس پہنچے تو وہ ایک پہاڑی کی چوٹی پر بیٹھا تھا۔ افسر بولا، ”اے مردِ خدا، بادشاہ کہتے ہیں کہ نیچے اُتر آئیں!“

Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him: and, behold, he sat on the top of an hill. And he spake unto him, Thou man of God, the king hath said, Come down.

الیاس نے جواب دیا، ”اگر مَیں مردِ خدا ہوں تو آسمان سے آگ نازل ہو کر آپ اور آپ کے 50 فوجیوں کو بھسم کر دے۔“ فوراً آسمان سے آگ نازل ہوئی اور افسر کو اُس کے لوگوں سمیت بھسم کر دیا۔

And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.

بادشاہ نے ایک اَور افسر کو الیاس کے پاس بھیج دیا۔ اُس کے ساتھ بھی 50 فوجی تھے۔ اُس کے پاس پہنچ کر افسر بولا، ”اے مردِ خدا، بادشاہ کہتے ہیں کہ فوراً اُتر آئیں۔“

Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said unto him, O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come down quickly.

الیاس نے دوبارہ پکارا، ”اگر مَیں مردِ خدا ہوں تو آسمان سے آگ نازل ہو کر آپ اور آپ کے 50 فوجیوں کو بھسم کر دے۔“ فوراً آسمان سے اللہ کی آگ نازل ہوئی اور افسر کو اُس کے 50 فوجیوں سمیت بھسم کر دیا۔

And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.

پھر بادشاہ نے تیسری بار ایک افسر کو 50 فوجیوں کے ساتھ الیاس کے پاس بھیج دیا۔ لیکن یہ افسر الیاس کے پاس اوپر چڑھ آیا اور اُس کے سامنے گھٹنے ٹیک کر التماس کرنے لگا، ”اے مردِ خدا، میری اور اپنے اِن 50 خادموں کی جانوں کی قدر کریں۔

And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him, and said unto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight.

دیکھیں، آگ نے آسمان سے نازل ہو کر پہلے دو افسروں کو اُن کے آدمیوں سمیت بھسم کر دیا ہے۔ لیکن براہِ کرم ہمارے ساتھ ایسا نہ کریں۔ میری جان کی قدر کریں۔“

Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and burnt up the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties: therefore let my life now be precious in thy sight.

تب رب کے فرشتے نے الیاس سے کہا، ”اِس سے مت ڈرنا بلکہ اِس کے ساتھ اُتر جا!“ چنانچہ الیاس اُٹھا اور افسر کے ساتھ اُتر کر بادشاہ کے پاس گیا۔

And the angel of the LORD said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king.

اُس نے بادشاہ سے کہا، ”رب فرماتا ہے، ’تُو نے اپنے قاصدوں کو عقرون کے دیوتا بعل زبوب سے دریافت کرنے کے لئے کیوں بھیجا؟ کیا اسرائیل میں کوئی خدا نہیں ہے؟ چونکہ تُو نے یہ کیا ہے اِس لئے جس بستر پر تُو پڑا ہے اُس سے تُو کبھی نہیں اُٹھنے کا۔ تُو یقیناً مر جائے گا‘۔“

And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baal–zebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.

ویسا ہی ہوا جیسا رب نے الیاس کی معرفت فرمایا تھا، اخزیاہ مر گیا۔ چونکہ اُس کا بیٹا نہیں تھا اِس لئے اُس کا بھائی یہورام یہوداہ کے بادشاہ یورام بن یہوسفط کی حکومت کے دوسرے سال میں تخت نشین ہوا۔

So he died according to the word of the LORD which Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram reigned in his stead in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; because he had no son.

باقی جو کچھ اخزیاہ کی حکومت کے دوران ہوا اور جو کچھ اُس نے کیا وہ ’شاہانِ اسرائیل کی تاریخ‘ کی کتاب میں بیان کیا گیا ہے۔

Now the rest of the acts of Ahaziah which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
