Jeremiah 45

Cuvîntul pe care l -a spus proorocul Ieremia către Baruc, fiul lui Neriia, cînd a scris într'o carte cuvintele acestea, după spusele lui Ieremia, în al patrulea an al lui Ioiachim, fiul lui Iosia, împăratul lui Iuda, sună astfel:

The word that Jeremiah the prophet spake unto Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,

,,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, despre tine, Baruc:

Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, unto thee, O Baruch;

,Tu zici: ,Vai de mine! căci Domnul a adus întristare peste durerea mea; îmi sleiesc puterile suspinînd, şi nu găsesc odihnă!`

Thou didst say, Woe is me now! for the LORD hath added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.

Spune -i: ,Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: ,Iată că ce am zidit, voi dărîma; ce am sădit, voi smulge, şi anume ţara aceasta.

Thus shalt thou say unto him, The LORD saith thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land.

Şi tu umbli după lucruri mari? Nu umbla după ele! Căci iată, voi aduce nenorocirea peste orice făptură, zice Domnul, dar ţie îţi voi da ca pradă de război viaţa ta, în toate locurile unde vei merge.``

And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the LORD: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.
