Esther 1

1:1

Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus, (this is Ahasuerus which reigned, from India even unto Ethiopia, over an hundred and seven and twenty provinces:)

Xảy trong đời vua A-suê-ru, tức A-suê-ru kia mà cai trị trên một trăm hai mươi bảy tỉnh, từ Ấn-độ cho đến Ê-thi-ô-bi,

That in those days, when the king Ahasuerus sat on the throne of his kingdom, which was in Shushan the palace,

khi vua ngự ngôi vương quốc tại Su-sơ, kinh đô người,

In the third year of his reign, he made a feast unto all his princes and his servants; the power of Persia and Media, the nobles and princes of the provinces, being before him:

nhằm năm thứ ba đời trị vì mình, người bày ra một bữa tiệc yến cho hết thảy quan trưởng và thần bộc mình. Ðạo binh nước Phe-rơ-sơ và Mê-đi, các bực sang trọng cùng các quan cai của hàng tỉnh đều ở trước mặt người.

When he shewed the riches of his glorious kingdom and the honour of his excellent majesty many days, even an hundred and fourscore days.

Trong nhiều ngày, tức trong một trăm tám mươi ngày, người bày tỏ sự giàu có sang trọng của nước và sự oai nghi rực rỡ của người.

And when these days were expired, the king made a feast unto all the people that were present in Shushan the palace, both unto great and small, seven days, in the court of the garden of the king's palace;

Khi các ngày đó đã qua rồi, vua bày đãi hết dân sự đương có ở tại kinh đô Su-sơ, hoặc lớn hay nhỏ, một cuộc yến tiệc bảy ngày, tại nơi hành lang của thượng uyển.

Where were white, green, and blue, hangings, fastened with cords of fine linen and purple to silver rings and pillars of marble: the beds were of gold and silver, upon a pavement of red, and blue, and white, and black, marble.

Tư bề có treo màn trướng sắc trắng, xanh lá cây, và xanh da trời, dùng dây gai màu trắng và màu tím cột vào vòng bạc và trụ cẩm thạch; các giường sập bằng vàng và bạc, đặt trên nền lót cẩm thạch đỏ và trắng, ngọc phụng và cẩm thạch đen.

And they gave them drink in vessels of gold, (the vessels being diverse one from another,) and royal wine in abundance, according to the state of the king.

Người ta đãi uống bằng chén vàng, những chén nhiều thứ khác nhau, và có ngự tửu rất nhiều, cho xứng đáng theo bực giàu sang của vua.

1:8

And the drinking was according to the law; none did compel: for so the king had appointed to all the officers of his house, that they should do according to every man's pleasure.

Người ta uống rượu tùy theo lịnh truyền chẳng ai ép phải uống; vì vua đã truyền các thần tể cung điện hãy làm tùy ý của mỗi người muốn.

Also Vashti the queen made a feast for the women in the royal house which belonged to king Ahasuerus.

Hoàng hậu Vả-thi cũng đãi một bữa tiệc cho các người nữ tại cung vua A-suê-ru.
