After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.

کچھ دیر کے بعد بادشاہ نے ہامان بن ہمّداتا اجاجی کو سرفراز کر کے دربار میں سب سے اعلیٰ عُہدہ دیا۔

And all the king's servants, that were in the king's gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.

جب کبھی ہامان آ موجود ہوتا تو شاہی صحن کے دروازے کے تمام شاہی افسر منہ کے بل جھک جاتے، کیونکہ بادشاہ نے ایسا کرنے کا حکم دیا تھا۔ لیکن مردکی ایسا نہیں کرتا تھا۔

Then the king's servants, which were in the king's gate, said unto Mordecai, Why transgressest thou the king's commandment?

یہ دیکھ کر دیگر شاہی ملازموں نے اُس سے پوچھا، ”آپ بادشاہ کے حکم کی خلاف ورزی کیوں کر رہے ہیں؟“

Now it came to pass, when they spake daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai's matters would stand: for he had told them that he was a Jew.

اُس نے جواب دیا، ”مَیں تو یہودی ہوں۔“ روز بہ روز دوسرے اُسے سمجھاتے رہے، لیکن وہ نہ مانا۔ آخرکار اُنہوں نے ہامان کو اطلاع دی، کیونکہ وہ دیکھنا چاہتے تھے کہ کیا وہ مردکی کا جواب قبول کرے گا یا نہیں۔

And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.

جب ہامان نے خود دیکھا کہ مردکی میرے سامنے منہ کے بل نہیں جھکتا تو وہ آگ بگولا ہو گیا۔

And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.

وہ فوراً مردکی کو قتل کرنے کے منصوبے بنانے لگا۔ لیکن یہ اُس کے لئے کافی نہیں تھا۔ چونکہ اُسے بتایا گیا تھا کہ مردکی یہودی ہے اِس لئے وہ فارسی سلطنت میں رہنے والے تمام یہودیوں کو ہلاک کر نے کا راستہ ڈھونڈنے لگا۔

In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar.

چنانچہ اخسویرس بادشاہ کی حکومت کے 12ویں سال کے پہلے مہینے نیسان میں ہامان کی موجودگی میں قرعہ ڈالا گیا۔ قرعہ ڈالنے سے ہامان یہودیوں کو قتل کرنے کی سب سے مبارک تاریخ معلوم کرنا چاہتا تھا۔ (قرعہ کے لئے ’پور‘ کہا جاتا تھا۔) اِس طریقے سے 12ویں مہینے ادار کا 13واں دن نکلا۔

And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king's laws: therefore it is not for the king's profit to suffer them.

تب ہامان نے بادشاہ سے بات کی، ”آپ کی سلطنت کے تمام صوبوں میں ایک قوم بکھری ہوئی ہے جو اپنے آپ کو دیگر قوموں سے الگ رکھتی ہے۔ اُس کے قوانین دوسری تمام قوموں سے مختلف ہیں، اور اُس کے افراد بادشاہ کے قوانین کو نہیں مانتے۔ مناسب نہیں کہ بادشاہ اُنہیں برداشت کریں!

If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king's treasuries.

اگر بادشاہ کو منظور ہو تو اعلان کریں کہ اِس قوم کو ہلاک کر دیا جائے۔ تب مَیں شاہی خزانوں میں 3,35,000 کلو گرام چاندی جمع کرا دوں گا۔“

And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews' enemy.

بادشاہ نے اپنی اُنگلی سے وہ انگوٹھی اُتاری جو شاہی مُہر لگانے کے لئے استعمال ہوتی تھی اور اُسے یہودیوں کے دشمن ہامان بن ہمّداتا اجاجی کو دے کر

And the king said unto Haman, The silver is given to thee, the people also, to do with them as it seemeth good to thee.

کہا، ”چاندی اور قوم آپ ہی کی ہیں، اُس کے ساتھ وہ کچھ کریں جو آپ کو اچھا لگے۔“

Then were the king's scribes called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and there was written according to all that Haman had commanded unto the king's lieutenants, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language; in the name of king Ahasuerus was it written, and sealed with the king's ring.

پہلے مہینے کے 13ویں دن ہامان نے شاہی محرّروں کو بُلایا تاکہ وہ اُس کی تمام ہدایات کے مطابق خط لکھ کر بادشاہ کے گورنروں، صوبوں کے دیگر حاکموں اور تمام قوموں کے بزرگوں کو بھیجیں۔ یہ خط ہر قوم کے اپنے طرزِ تحریر اور اپنی زبان میں قلم بند ہوئے۔ اُنہیں بادشاہ کا نام لے کر لکھا گیا، پھر شاہی انگوٹھی کی مُہر اُن پر لگائی گئی۔ اُن میں ذیل کا اعلان کیا گیا۔

And the letters were sent by posts into all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey.

”ایک ہی دن میں تمام یہودیوں کو ہلاک اور پورے طور پر تباہ کرنا ہے، خواہ چھوٹے ہوں یا بڑے، بچے ہوں یا عورتیں۔ ساتھ ساتھ اُن کی ملکیت بھی ضبط کر لی جائے۔“ اِس کے لئے 12ویں مہینے ادار کا 13واں دن مقرر کیا گیا۔ یہ اعلان تیز رَو قاصدوں کے ذریعے سلطنت کے تمام صوبوں میں پہنچایا گیا

The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, that they should be ready against that day.

تاکہ اُس کی تصدیق قانونی طور پر کی جائے اور تمام قومیں مقررہ دن کے لئے تیار ہوں۔

The posts went out, being hastened by the king's commandment, and the decree was given in Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city Shushan was perplexed.

بادشاہ کے حکم پر قاصد چل نکلے۔ یہ اعلان سوسن کے قلعے میں بھی کیا گیا۔ پھر بادشاہ اور ہامان کھانے پینے کے لئے بیٹھ گئے۔ لیکن پورے شہر میں ہل چل مچ گئی۔
