I Samuel 22

David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father's house heard it, they went down thither to him.

Ja David läksi sieltä ja pakeni Adullamin luolaan; kuin hänen veljensä ja kaikki isänsä huone sen kuulivat, tulivat he myös sinne hänen tykönsä.

And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.

Ja kaikkinaiset miehet, jotka olivat vaivassa, ja jokainen, joka velassa oli, ja jokainen, jolla murheellinen sydän oli, kokosivat itsensä hänen tykönsä, ja hän oli heidän päämiehensä: että liki neljäsataa miestä oli hänen tykönänsä.

And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.

Ja David meni sieltä Mitspaan Moabilaisten maakuntaan ja sanoi Moabilaisten kuninkaalle: anna isäni ja äitini käydä ulos ja sisälle teidän tykönänne, siihenasti että minä saan tietää, mitä Jumala tekee minun kanssani.

And he brought them before the king of Moab: and they dwelt with him all the while that David was in the hold.

Ja hän johdatti heidät Moabilaisten kuninkaan eteen; ja he viipyivät hänen tykönänsä aina niinkauvan kuin David oli linnassa.

And the prophet Gad said unto David, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.

Niin sanoi propheta Gad Davidille: älä ole siinä linnassa, mutta mene ja kulje Juudan maalle. Niin David meni ja tuli Haretin metsään.

When Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him, (now Saul abode in Gibeah under a tree in Ramah, having his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about him;)

Ja Saul kuuli, että David ja ne miehet, jotka hänen tykönänsä olivat, tulivat tiettäväksi. Ja Saul asui Gibeassa metsistössä Ramassa, ja hänen keihäänsä oli hänen kädessänsä, ja kaikki hänen palveliansa seisoivat hänen tykönänsä.

Then Saul said unto his servants that stood about him, Hear now, ye Benjamites; will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards, and make you all captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds;

Niin sanoi Saul palvelioillensa, jotka seisoivat hänen tykönänsä: kuulkaat, te Jeminin lapset! antaako Isain poika teille kaikille pellot ja viinamäet, ja tekeekö hän teitä kaikkia tuhanten ja satain päämiehiksi?

That all of you have conspired against me, and there is none that sheweth me that my son hath made a league with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me, or sheweth unto me that my son hath stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?

Että te kaikki teitte liiton minua vastaan, ja ei ole yhtään, joka ilmoitti sen minun korvilleni että minun poikani on myös tehnyt liiton Isain pojan kanssa ja ei ole yhtäkään teistä, joka sitä panee pahaksensa minun tähteni, ja ei myös ilmoita sitä minun korvaini kuullen, että minun poikani on yllyttänyt palveliani minua vastaan, väijymään minua, niinkuin tänäpänä on nähtävä.

Then answered Doeg the Edomite, which was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.

Niin vastasi Doeg Edomilainen, joka seisoi Saulin palveliain tykönä, ja sanoi: minä näin Isain pojan tulevan Nobeen, Ahimelekin Akitobin pojan tykö.

And he enquired of the LORD for him, and gave him victuals, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.

Hän kysyi Herralta neuvoa hänen tähtensä ja evästi hänen, ja antoi hänelle Philistealaisen Goljatin miekan.

Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father's house, the priests that were in Nob: and they came all of them to the king.

Niin kuningas lähetti kutsumaan pappia Ahimelekia Akitobin poikaa ja kaikkea hänen isänsä huonetta, pappeja, jotka olivat Nobessa; ja he tulivat kaikki kuninkaan tykö.

And Saul said, Hear now, thou son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord.

Ja Saul sanoi: kuule sinä Akitobin poika. Hän sanoi: tässä minä olen, herrani.

And Saul said unto him, Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in that thou hast given him bread, and a sword, and hast enquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?

Ja Saul sanoi hänelle: miksi te teitte liiton minua vastaan, sinä ja Isain poika, ettäs annoit hänelle leipää ja miekan ja kysyit Herralta neuvoa hänen tähtensä, yllyttääkses häntä minua väijymään, niinkuin tänäpänä on nähtävä.

Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who is so faithful among all thy servants as David, which is the king's son in law, and goeth at thy bidding, and is honourable in thine house?

Ahimelek vastasi kuningasta ja sanoi: kuka on kaikkein sinun palveliais seassa niinkuin David? Hän on uskollinen ja kuninkaan vävy, vaeltaa kuuliaisuudessas ja on kunniallinen sinun huoneessas.

Did I then begin to enquire of God for him? be it far from me: let not the king impute any thing unto his servant, nor to all the house of my father: for thy servant knew nothing of all this, less or more.

Olenko minä vasta tänäpänä ruvennut kysymään Jumalalta neuvoa hänen tähtensä? Pois se minusta, älkään kuningas luulko senkaltaista palveliastansa ja kaikesta minun isäni huoneesta: sillä sinun palvelias ei tietänyt mitään kaikista näistä, pienistä eli suuresta.

And the king said, Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou, and all thy father's house.

Kuningas sanoi: Ahimelek, sinun pitää totisesti kuoleman, sinun ja koko sinun isäs huoneen.

And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the LORD; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not shew it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD.

Ja kuningas sanoi vartioillensa, jotka seisoivat hänen tykönänsä: kääntäkäät itsenne ja tappakaat Herran papit; sillä heidän kätensä on myös Davidin kanssa, ja koska he tiesivät hänen paenneen, niin ei he ilmoittaneet sitä minulle. Mutta kuninkaan palveliat ei tahtoneet satuttaa käsiänsä Herran pappeihin, lyödäksensä heitä.

And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.

Niin sanoi kuningas Doegille: käännä sinä itses ja lyö papit. Ja Doeg Edomilainen käänsi itsensä ja löi pappeja, ja tappoi sinä päivänä viisiyhdeksättäkymmentä miestä, jotka kantoivat liinaista päällisvaatetta.

And Nob, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen, and asses, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.

Ja hän löi Noben, pappein kaupungin, miekan terällä, sekä miehet että vaimot, lapset ja imeväiset, niin myös härjät, aasit ja lampaat, aina miekan terällä.

And one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David.

Ja yksi Ahimelekin Akitobin pojan poika Abjatar nimeltä, pääsi, ja pakeni Davidin tykö.

And Abiathar shewed David that Saul had slain the LORD'S priests.

Ja Abjatar ilmoitti Davidille, että Saul oli tappanut Herran papit.

And David said unto Abiathar, I knew it that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have occasioned the death of all the persons of thy father's house.

Ja David sanoi Abjatarille: minä sen sinä päivänä kyllä tiesin, koska Doeg Edomilainen oli siellä, että hän sen Saulille oli totisesti ilmoittava. Minä olen siis vikapää koko isäs huoneen kuolemaan.

Abide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.

Pysy minun tykönäni ja älä pelkää: joka seisoo minun henkeni perään, hän myös seisoo sinun henkes perään; sillä sinä varjellaan minun tykönäni.
