Jeremiah 15

Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth.

آنگاه خداوند به من گفت: «حتّی اگر موسی و سموئیل با هم در اینجا بودند و از من التماس می‌کردند، من به این مردم رحمی نمی‌کردم. آنها را مجبور کن بروند و از نظرم دور شوند.

And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the LORD; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity.

وقتی از تو می‌پرسند به کجا خواهند رفت، به آنها بگو که من چنین گفته‌ام: «سرنوشت گروهی این است که از بیماری بمیرند و این انتهای آنهاست، سرنوشت گروهی دیگر این است که در جنگ کشته شوند، پس به همان سوی می‌روند سرنوشت عدّه‌ای هم این است که از گرسنگی بمیرند، آنها هم به همان طرف می‌روند، سرنوشت بقیّه این است که به اسارت برده شوند، پس آنها هم، به همان سوی خواهند رفت.

And I will appoint over them four kinds, saith the LORD: the sword to slay, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy.

من، خداوند مقدّر کرده‌ام که آنها دچار چهار عامل وحشتناک شوند: در جنگ کشته شوند، بدنهای آنها به وسیلهٔ سگها به اطراف کشیده شود، لاشخورها آنها را بخورند و هرچه را از بدنهای آنها باقی ‌مانده است، حیوانات وحشی بخورند.

And I will cause them to be removed into all kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah king of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem.

به‌خاطر آنچه منسی پسر حزقیا، در اورشلیم انجام داده کاری خواهم کرد که تمام مردم جهان وحشت کنند.»

For who shall have pity upon thee, O Jerusalem? or who shall bemoan thee? or who shall go aside to ask how thou doest?

خداوند می‌گوید: «ای مردم اورشلیم چه کسی بر شما رحم خواهد کرد و چه کسی در ماتم شما شریک خواهد شد؟ چه کسی است که لحظه‌ای بایستد و حال شما را بپرسد؟

Thou hast forsaken me, saith the LORD, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary with repenting.

شما مرا رد کرده، و به من پشت کرده‌اید. پس من دست خود را دراز نموده و شما را نابود کردم، چون از صبر و تحمّل خسته شده‌ام.

And I will fan them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children, I will destroy my people, since they return not from their ways.

من شما را مثل کاه در برابر باد در تمام این سرزمین پراکنده نمودم. من شما، قوم خود را چون از راههای شرارت‌آمیز برنگشتید درهم شکسته و فرزند‌انتان را کشتم.

Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a spoiler at noonday: I have caused him to fall upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city.

زن بیوه در سرزمین شما از دانه‌های شن کنار دریا بیشتر است. من مردان شما را در عنفوان جوانی کُشتم. و مادرانشان را داغدیده کردم. و ناگهان نگرانی و وحشت را بر آنان مستولی نمودم

She that hath borne seven languisheth: she hath given up the ghost; her sun is gone down while it was yet day: she hath been ashamed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver to the sword before their enemies, saith the LORD.

مادری که هفت فرزند خود را از دست داده، بیهوش شد و برای زنده ماندن تقلّا می‌کرد. روزش شب شد، آبرویش رفت و رسوا شد. من اجازه خواهم داد تا دشمنانتان هریک از شما را که زنده مانده‌اید، بکشند. من، خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.»

Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast borne me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; yet every one of them doth curse me.

من چه آدم بدبختی هستم! کاش مادرم مرا به دنیا نیاورده بود. باید با همه در این سرزمین مشاجره و نزاع کنم. نه به کسی قرض دادم و نه از کسی قرض گرفتم، با وجود این‌، همه مرا نفرین می‌کنند.

The LORD said, Verily it shall be well with thy remnant; verily I will cause the enemy to entreat thee well in the time of evil and in the time of affliction.

ای خداوند، اگر من در خدمت به تو کوتاهی کردم و اگر حتّی برای دشمنانم در هنگام گرفتاری و ناراحتی آنها شفاعت نکرده باشم، بگذار تمام نفرین‌ها مستجاب شود. (

Shall iron break the northern iron and the steel?

کسی نمی‌تواند یک قطعه آهن، مخصوصاً آهن شمال را که با برنز مخلوط شده باشد، بشکند.)

Thy substance and thy treasures will I give to the spoil without price, and that for all thy sins, even in all thy borders.

خداوند به من گفت: «به‌خاطر گناهانی که قوم در سرتاسر این سرزمین مرتکب شده‌اند، اجازه خواهم داد دشمنان تمام ثروت و خزائن آنها را ببرند.

And I will make thee to pass with thine enemies into a land which thou knowest not: for a fire is kindled in mine anger, which shall burn upon you.

اجازه خواهم داد تا آنها در مملکتی که چیزی دربارهٔ آن نمی‌دانند در خدمت دشمنان خود باشند، چون خشم من مثل آتشی است که تا به ابد خاموش نمی‌شود.»

O LORD, thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke.

آنگاه من گفتم: «ای خداوند، خودت خوب می‌دانی. مرا به یادآور و به من کمک کن. اجازه بده تا از کسانی‌که به من جفا می‌کنند، انتقام بگیرم. در برابر آنها آن‌قدر صبور نباش مبادا در کشتن من موفّق شوند. به‌ یاد آور که به‌خاطر توست که من متحمّل تمام این توهین‌ها می‌شوم.

Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.

تو با من سخن گفتی من به هر کلمهٔ آن گوش دادم. ای خداوند، خدای متعال، من به تو تعلّق دارم و گفتار تو قلب مرا از شادی و خوشی سرشار می‌سازد.

I sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I sat alone because of thy hand: for thou hast filled me with indignation.

من وقت خود را همراه با سایر مردم، صرف خوشگذرانی و تفریح نکردم. فرمان تو را اطاعت کردم، تنها ماندم و بر خشم من افزوده شد.

Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuseth to be healed? wilt thou be altogether unto me as a liar, and as waters that fail?

چرا من باید این‌قدر متحمّل درد و رنج شوم؟ چرا زخمهای من علاج ‌ناپذیرند؟ چرا شفا نمی‌یابند؟ آیا می‌خواهی مرا مثل کسی‌که به نهر آبی امید بسته‌- نهری که در فصل تابستان خشک می‌شود- ناامید کنی؟»

Therefore thus saith the LORD, If thou return, then will I bring thee again, and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them.

در پاسخ خداوند گفت: «اگر بازگردی من تو را قبول می‌کنم و تو دوباره خادم من خواهی بود. اگر به جای سخنان بیهوده پیام ارزنده‌ای را اعلام کنی، دوباره نبی من خواهی بود. مردم خودشان به سوی تو می‌آیند و نیازی نخواهد بود که تو به دنبال آنها بروی.

And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the LORD.

من تو را مثل دیواری محکم، ساخته شده از برنز در مقابل آنها قرار خواهم داد. آنها با تو خواهند جنگید، ولی تو را شکست نخواهند داد. من با تو خواهم بود تا مراقب تو باشم و از تو حفاظت کنم.

And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible.

من تو را از شرّ آدمهای ستمکار و شریر رهایی خواهم بخشید.»
