Hosea 3

E l’Eterno mi disse: "Va’ ancora, e ama una donna amata da un amante e adultera, come l’Eterno ama i figliuoli d’Israele, i quali anch’essi si volgono ad altri dèi, e amano le schiacciate d’uva".

Then said the LORD unto me, Go yet, love a woman beloved of her friend, yet an adulteress, according to the love of the LORD toward the children of Israel, who look to other gods, and love flagons of wine.

Io me la comprai dunque per quindici sicli d’argento, per un omer d’orzo e per un lethec d’orzo,

So I bought her to me for fifteen pieces of silver, and for an homer of barley, and an half homer of barley:

e le dissi: "Stattene per parecchio tempo aspettando me: non ti prostituire e non darti ad alcun uomo; e io farò lo stesso per te".

And I said unto her, Thou shalt abide for me many days; thou shalt not play the harlot, and thou shalt not be for another man: so will I also be for thee.

Poiché i figliuoli d’Israele staranno per parecchio tempo senza re, senza capo, senza sacrifizio e senza statua, senza efod e senza idoli domestici.

For the children of Israel shall abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an ephod, and without teraphim:

Poi i figliuoli d’Israele torneranno a cercare l’Eterno, il loro Dio, e Davide loro re, e ricorreranno tremanti all’Eterno e alla sua bontà, negli ultimi giorni.

Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king; and shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the latter days.
