Psalms 127

Salomon veisu korkeimmassa Kuorissa. Jos ei Herra huonetta rakenna, niin hukkaan työtä tekevät, jotka sitä rakentavat: jos ei Herra kaupunkia varjele, niin vartiat hukkaan valvovat.

Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Se on turha, että te varhain nousette ja hiljain maata menette, ja syötte leipänne surulla; sillä hän antaa ystävillensä heidän maatessansa.

It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

Katso, lapset ovat Herran lahja, ja kohdun hedelmä on anto.

Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

Kuin nuolet väkevän kädessä, niin ovat nuorukaiset.

As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

Autuas on se, jonka viini on niitä täynnänsä: ei ne häväistä, kuin heillä vihollistensa kanssa portissa tekemistä on.

Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
